Chapter 202 Chapter 202
The next morning came with the soft sound of birds singing outside the window. Sunlight slipped gently through the white curtains, landing across Savannah’s peaceful face.
She had barely slept all night. Every time she closed her eyes, she thought about the baby growing inside her. She still couldn’t believe it. After all the heartbreak, tears, and pain — here she was again, blessed with another chance at joy.
She placed her hand on her stomach and smiled softly. “Good morning, little one,” she whispered.
Suddenly, she heard the door creak open. Adrian walked in quietly, holding a tray filled with food — scrambled eggs, toast, fresh orange juice, and a small vase with a single red rose.
He smiled when he saw her awake. “Good morning, my queen.”
Savannah blinked in surprise and tried to sit up. “Adrian, what’s all this?”
“Breakfast in bed for my beautiful wife and our little miracle,” he said proudly, placing the tray on her lap.
She covered her face, shyly laughing. “You didn’t have to do all this.”
Adrian sat beside her and tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “Yes, I did. You’ve been through so much, Savannah. You deserve to be spoiled every single day.”
She looked at him lovingly. “You’re too sweet, Adrian.”
He grinned. “I know.” Then he picked up a fork, cut a small piece of egg, and held it out to her. “Say ahh.”
Savannah laughed and opened her mouth. “You’re treating me like a baby already.”
“That’s because you are my baby,” Adrian said playfully.
She blushed and shook her head. “You’re impossible.”
They both laughed softly. For a few minutes, there was nothing but the sound of happiness — their quiet laughter, the clinking of plates, and the warm feeling that filled the room.
After a while, Savannah put down her fork and looked at him. “Adrian… are you really happy?”
He stared at her with a surprised expression. “What kind of question is that?”
“I mean… another baby. Are you sure you’re ready?” she asked softly. “Things have been so crazy lately, and—”
Adrian stopped her gently by holding her chin. “Savannah, look at me.”
She lifted her eyes to his.
“I have never been more ready for anything in my life,” he said firmly. “You and Liam gave me a reason to live. And now, this baby… it’s a blessing. A new chapter for us.”
Tears filled Savannah’s eyes again. “You always know the right words to say.”
Adrian smiled and kissed her forehead. “That’s because I love you. And I’ll always remind you of it.”
At that moment, little footsteps echoed from the hallway. Liam burst into the room wearing his cartoon pajamas, holding his teddy bear.
“Mommy! Daddy!” he shouted happily.
Savannah and Adrian both laughed as he jumped onto the bed.
“Good morning, champ,” Adrian said, lifting him up. “You’re awake early.”
Liam looked at the tray of food curiously. “Is that breakfast? Mommy, did Daddy cook again?”
Savannah smiled. “Yes, he did.”
Liam made a funny face. “Did he burn it this time?”
Adrian laughed loudly. “Hey! It’s perfect this time!”
Liam giggled and reached for the toast. “Can I have some?”
Adrian nodded. “Of course, little man. But only if you give Mommy a morning hug first.”
Liam crawled closer to Savannah and hugged her tightly. “Good morning, Mommy. I love you.”
Savannah’s heart melted. She held him close and kissed his forehead. “I love you too, my sweet boy.”
Adrian sat back, watching them with a smile. “My two favorite people in the whole world,” he said proudly.
Liam then noticed Savannah’s belly and placed his little hand on it. “Mommy, your tummy looks bigger. Did you eat too much last night?”
Savannah and Adrian burst into laughter.
Adrian winked at Savannah. “Should we tell him?”
Savannah smiled and nodded. “Liam,” she said softly, “Mommy’s tummy is growing because… there’s a baby inside.”
Liam’s eyes widened. “A baby?!”
“Yes, sweetheart,” she said gently. “You’re going to be a big brother soon.”
For a moment, Liam just stared at her. Then he broke into a huge smile and shouted, “Yay! A baby! I want a baby sister!”
Adrian laughed so hard he almost dropped his juice. “Oh, you already made your choice, huh?”
“Yes!” Liam said proudly. “A baby sister so I can protect her and buy her toys!”
Savannah giggled, holding her son’s hand. “You’ll be the best big brother ever.”
Liam nodded with a serious face. “I promise I’ll take care of the baby and Mommy too.”
Adrian smiled warmly and hugged them both. “My family is growing,” he said softly.
After breakfast, Savannah stood by the window while Adrian helped Liam get dressed for school. She watched them together — father and son laughing, teasing, and fixing ties. Her heart swelled with love.
When Adrian was done, he came up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist.
“What are you thinking about?” he whispered against her ear.
Savannah leaned back into him. “Just… how lucky I am.”
Adrian rested his chin on her shoulder. “No, love. I’m the lucky one.”
They stood there quietly for a few seconds, listening to the sound of the birds outside and Liam humming in the background.
Then Adrian kissed her cheek softly. “Promise me something.”
“What is it?” she asked.
“Promise me you’ll rest more now. No stress, no skipping meals, no long hours on the laptop. I want you and the baby healthy.”
Savannah smiled. “I promise.”
He looked deep into her eyes. “Good. Because I want this baby to grow up strong and loved — just like Liam.”
Savannah nodded, touched by his words. “You’re going to be an amazing dad again.”
Adrian laughed. “Oh, I already am.”
She laughed too, leaning her head on his chest.
The door opened again and Liam peeked in, ready for school with his little backpack. “Daddy, are you done with Mommy? I don’t want to be late!”
Adrian smiled. “Yes, boss. Let’s go.”
He kissed Savannah softly. “We’ll be back soon, love.”
“Okay,” she said, waving as they left.
When the house grew quiet again, Savannah sat on the bed and touched her stomach once more. She smiled to herself.
Her life wasn’t perfect — she still had fears, and the shadows of her past sometimes came back to haunt her. But in that moment, everything felt peaceful.
She whispered softly, “Thank you, God. Thank you for this new beginning.”
And deep inside her, the baby she carried seemed to respond — a tiny heartbeat of hope for the future.
