Chapter 195 Chapter 195
The hall was still full of smiles and soft music after Savannah’s touching speech. People were whispering about how beautiful her words were when suddenly a tiny voice broke through the crowd.
“Mummy!”
Everyone turned, and there was Liam, running toward the stage with his small shoes tapping fast on the shiny floor. His little suit looked too big for him, and he was holding his toy car tightly.
Savannah gasped softly and bent down just as he reached her. Liam threw his small arms around her legs and hugged her tightly. Everyone in the hall laughed at the sight.
Adrian stood up, smiling with pride. “That’s my boy,” he said proudly.
The host laughed too. “Oh, we have another speaker tonight!” he said, handing the microphone to Liam playfully.
But Liam held the mic with both hands and said, “Please give me the mic, I want to talk!”
The whole hall burst into laughter. Some people even stood up to record him with their phones.
Savannah knelt beside him, smiling softly. “Go on, my love. Tell them what you want to say.”
Liam looked around the big hall, his bright eyes shining. “Good evening, everyone,” he said in his tiny voice, and the crowd clapped.
“My name is Liam, and this is my mummy,” he pointed at Savannah proudly, “and that’s my daddy!” He pointed at Adrian, who gave him a thumbs-up and smiled wide.
Everyone laughed again.
Liam continued, “My mummy is the best mummy in the world. She cooks yummy food and always hugs me when I’m sad. And my daddy buys me toys, but sometimes he hides chocolate from me.”
The hall erupted with laughter again. Adrian covered his face and laughed too.
Savannah couldn’t stop smiling. “Liam!” she whispered, but he was already enjoying the attention.
“And my teacher is nice too,” Liam said seriously. “She said I am very smart, and I like going to school now. But…”
He paused for a second, looking shy. Everyone leaned closer.
“I wish I can have a baby sister to play with,” he said with a wide smile.
The room exploded with laughter and “awws.” Couples were laughing, some were clapping, and Savannah’s cheeks turned pink.
Adrian stood up, shaking his head. “Oh no, here we go,” he joked, and the audience laughed even more.
Savannah took the mic gently from Liam and kissed his forehead. “Thank you, my little man. You’ve done well.”
Liam grinned proudly, waving at everyone as the crowd gave him a big round of applause.
He ran back to his seat beside Adrian, who lifted him up and whispered something that made the boy giggle.
But while everyone was laughing and happy, not all hearts were light.
Across the table, Nathaniel sat frozen, his eyes glued to the small boy. He didn’t even blink. His chest felt heavy, his throat tight. He saw how Liam smiled and how much love shone between Savannah and Adrian.
Nathaniel’s hands trembled under the table. He blinked fast, trying to hold back tears, but one still escaped.
Louis, sitting beside him, noticed. “Bro… are you okay?” he asked softly.
Nathaniel nodded but didn’t speak. His voice was gone.
Inside, his thoughts were loud. That little boy… he could have been mine.
He swallowed hard and forced a smile as the claps faded around him. Everyone else was laughing, but his heart was breaking quietly.
Savannah didn’t notice him. She was too busy helping Liam down from the stage, laughing with Adrian.
Nathaniel looked at them once more before whispering under his breath, “I lost everything because of my pride.”
The music started again, and laughter filled the air, but for Nathaniel, the night had already turned dark.
