152 Not Passing Crush....
“You lying bastard!” my beloved roars, instantly transforming into a furious storm. “I don’t have a mate! I wasn’t given such a blessing! And I will not tolerate another deceitful scoundrel in my life! Save your passionate speeches for your true mate! Otherwise, you might deeply regret it when you meet her!”
“Oh, God…” Alina cuts in with compassion, interrupting her friend. “Lakisha, Aiden doesn’t have a mate blessing either. And honestly, the two of you desperately need a serious talk!”
I see my beloved freeze at Alina’s words, the truth hitting her hard. She grows even more flustered, words tumbling out of her trembling lips:
“I’m not going to talk to him,” she fusses in a shaky voice. “I need to put Liam down for his nap…”
“Lakisha, I won’t leave my son, don’t even think about it.” My voice is firm, my gaze steady, and I see both disbelief and fear in her eyes. “I’m coming with you. You’ll introduce me to our son, we’ll put him to bed, and then we’ll talk.”
I can tell how hard this decision is for her, but at last, she agrees, and we walk together toward the house.
“Mama, uncle?” the little boy tugs softly at Lakisha’s hand, pointing his tiny finger at me. She exhales heavily and looks at me, uncertain. I give her a meaningful nod.
“No, Liam,” she kneels down beside the boy, locking eyes with him. “That’s not uncle. That’s Daddy. This is your dad.”
“Dad?” he repeats in surprise, staring at me.
And inside me—it’s like an explosion. I never thought goosebumps could run all over my body just from hearing a child call me dad!
“Yes, Dad,” I crouch down beside my son, smiling at him sincerely. “And you know what? I already love you very much.” I confess, and out of the corner of my eye, I see Lakisha glance away, clearly nervous. “If I had known about you earlier, we would have met earlier. But now, I’m not going anywhere—no matter how much your mom might protest.” I grin at the boy, and he smiles back.
Once inside the house, I watched secretly as my beloved tucked Liam in for his nap. Well, why not? I need to learn! I understand—I’m a brand-new, overjoyed father, but the little one doesn’t know me yet. He needs time to get used to me.
And he will get used to it. Both he and the stubborn blonde troublemaker, with whom I’m about to have a serious conversation.
Quietly, Lakisha came down to the living room after putting Liam to sleep. She looked completely shattered, nervously twisting her fingers. I could hear her heart racing, her breathing uneven.
I stepped closer, right up to her, but she kept looking everywhere except at me. I gently lifted her chin so she would meet my eyes.
“Lakisha, I’m angry with you,” I admit sternly, letting her see the truth in my gaze. “Angry that you lied to me and never told me about my son. I’ve missed so much of his life—our life!” Once again, I see tears welling up in her eyes. “But despite all of that, I’m also… so incredibly happy. Because I came here for you—for both of you. I came ready to fight for the woman I love against what I thought was another man. And it turns out… there never was one.”
At my words, Lakisha lets out a choked sob.
“I selfishly wanted to take you and the child away, even from the devil himself if I had to. But fate, that cruel trickster who never gave me a true mate, had already given me something far greater—my very own family.” My voice softens, though the fire in my chest only grows stronger. “I love you, Lakisha. From the very first moment we met. And now, you’re not getting rid of me, little one. Not anymore. Whatever I’ve missed, we’ll make up for—together. With a second child, if that’s what it takes.”
Slowly, I lean down, brushing the tears from her beautiful eyes before pressing my lips to the ones I’ve longed for. For a moment, she freezes. Then, with trembling hesitation, she kisses me back and throws her arms around me—holding me so tightly as if afraid this is just a dream, and I’ll vanish.
But she’ll be waiting a long time if she thinks I’ll disappear.
Because now, only death itself could tear us apart.
