Chapter 78 Chapter 78
Selena
The sheets were changed, my body was clean and ready for the day. But my hands could only clench the little green gown on my body.
What were we now? He said he now owns me, what does that make us? A master and his slave?
I couldn't stop questioning.
I looked at the green gown Svetlana said Theo picked.
It wasn't work fitting.
Where was he? I have been awake for more than thirty minutes, and I couldn’t bring myself to go out and face everyone’s judgmental gaze.
There was no way they didn't hear my scream last night.
An assistant sleeping with her boss.
I chewed my bottom lip, then I placed my hand on my hair and brushed down neatly.
My phone beeped in my hand, and I swiped it open, only to frown.
It was the lady.
“I believe you should be able to get something from this trip. Don’t mess up.” I read.
How does she always know what Theodore was up to or doing?
I typed back to her. “I won’t.”
I wondered what she would ask of me when she finds out I am with Theodore now.
I sighed, still looking at my phone. Just then another message slid in.
From Boss: Svetlana would take you around the city. She will get anything you need.
My face flushed.
Something was different about his text. It felt like it was no longer an office relationship.
The ache that I have felt since I woke up dragged my chest, and I rubbed it, still looking at my phone.
I typed: What about work? We came here for work.
I bit my lip as I waited for him to reply, my heart beating really fast.
A message passed in, Boss: Don't worry about it. I’ll take care of everything.
How sweet.
Maybe Theodore wasn’t the cruel man everyone labeled him to be.
He has never been cruel to me, he was the opposite.
‘But the drugs?’ A voice sounded from the depths of my heart.
The cops never caught the one in charge. Who even knows if he truly did it? But then, the lady said the drugs were harmful.
“What am I even doing?” I shook my head, dropping my phone.
I wasn't defending him now.
There must be something he has in mind for me.
I just have to be careful.
But for now, I stood up with a huge smile plastered on my face. I should enjoy his offer.
A knock on the door made me turn to it.
“Young Madam, master must have told you already,” Svetlana said entering the room. I nodded with a smile.
“I’ll be following you. And just call me, Selena.” I stood up from the bed.
She didn't look happy with it, a frown spread all over her face.
“I’m sorry, but I can't do that. I have to respect you just like I do with my master. If not I’ll get in trouble, so please allow me.” She bowed deeper, pleading..
I sighed. It seemed I would have to leave it. I moved to her, helping her up.
“If you want to, you can. And besides, it’ll be more comfortable that way.”
Her eyes searched mine, then she nodded. I guess that works.
“Young madam, we should leave now, I’ll take you around.”
Well, I guess it didn't.
Russia was beautiful.
It hasn't always been my dream country, but it was one not to miss.
Its beautiful scenery and architecture were relishing. And Svetlana did her best explaining different buildings and things we came across.
Moving around was exhausting, and a few times, my legs hurt, but I couldn't stop walking around.
Now we were in a large street filled with stalls of different things.
“This is our famous night stalls. If we go deeper, we could eat a little of night foods, what do you think?”
Excitement flashed in her eyes and she held onto the little purse that contained a card and cash.
Well, she had dropped her guard a little since we started walking around.
Now she speaks more, telling me her favourite part of the city, and I was sure this was among them.
I looked at the place with colourful decoration, its liveliness hopping up.
“Oh, you might not like things like this. I'll be sure to find you somewhere else.” Her excitement was replaced with disappointment as she waited for me to turn.
I must look really rich in the dress. I looked down at the green dress.
“No, I like it. Let’s check around.” I beamed at the smiles that radiated from her face.
Svetlana has a nice smile with a cute little face. She should be Josh’s agemate.
I wondered how she got to be Theodore’s servant. But then, life must have happened to her just like it did to me.
Maybe hers was more manageable compared to my younger self.
“You know, I have a younger brother like you. He is cute just like you.” I smiled warmly.
“Really?” Her eyes beamed excitedly. She sure is easy to please.
I nodded. “Yes. Josh is nineteen. He just….” I wanted to add that Josh just started college, but that could dampen the mood.
“Wow, I’m eighteen. Young madam’s brother must be beautiful like her.”
My face reddened. “Am I?” I teased and she nodded with a blush.
We moved to a stall, where an elderly woman fried something over the heat. She smiled as we approached.
“Ahh, pirozhki!” Her eyes grew bigger as she stared at the bun-like food. I haven't seen it before.
She raised her head awkwardly to face me. “I’m sorry for that, it has been a long time since I saw Pirozhki.”
I frowned. “Why? It looks like something common.” I looked around, trying to see what was special about it.
“Though it isn't common, we aren't allowed to leave however we want. We belong to the masters and we are only allowed to explore twice a year.”
I turned to her in disbelief. “What?” How was that possible? That’s inhuman.
She leaned down, picking one of the buns. “We have been with our master longer than we can remember. We belong to him.” She said it peacefully. I couldn't imagine what she must have been through.
To be isolated from the rest of the world at such a young age.
I looked at the elderly woman who had been looking at us quietly. “We’ll take everything.”
Her eyes widened, and immediately she started packing the buns on the tray.
“Why? You can't eat all of it, what if you don't like it?” She asked in panic.
“Who said I’m getting it for myself? Since you love it, then you should eat it to your fullest.” I gave her a warm smile.
She smiled back and waited eagerly for the lady.
