Chapter 69 Chapter 69

Chapter 69 Chapter 69
Selena

I dragged my luggage over the stairs, every step seemed to be tugging at the strings of my chest, pulling and ready to snap.

It was the same staircase I took with the huge man on my first day of work.

I had received a text message last night, with an address to come here.

“Oh my god, this’s so hard.” I dragged the luggage to the final stair, placing my hand on my waist, and I looked down.

“This is so cruel. If he wanted to use this building, why didn't he make an elevator or something? What of cases

of emergency? Someone has to climb this far, using all their energy?” I complained in annoyance, before turning and opening the door to the huge open space.

Strong winds blow, making me cover my eyes with my free arm. The blue jet’s engine roars strongly, as if it were waiting for me.  It was different from the last one.

“As expected of a rich man,” I said loudly, knowing I won’t be heard.

I have told myself to enjoy this business vacation. Yes, I was going to take it as a vacation.

Ever since two days ago, I haven't been able to recover fully after Josh broke the news of Valeria. She was dead, raped by three men, who killed themselves afterward.

I wasn't naive to conclude that it was karma. Karma has never worked for me. In fact, it had never been in support of the weak. It doesn't work against the strong, but favors them.

And I wasn't naive not to link the similarities.

A rape situation, just like she planned for me, and then, the three dead men beside her. There was no doubt that they were the men with me in that empty room.

There were so many questions that I needed answers to. Though Valeria had wished that on me, I couldn't help but feel bad for what happened to her.

So I have decided to make good use of this vacation, to forget everything.

Whoever has helped me, must have been godsent, though they were too cruel.

I dragged my luggage to the jet, and a guy jumped down.

It was the same guard who had driven me home from Theodore’s penthouse.

“I’ll take it from here,” He took my luggage from me, not giving me the room to refuse.

“What is your name? I don't know why, but I feel like I would be seeing you around a lot, I don't want to keep looking at you like a nameless person.” I yelled over the roaring engine.

“Zac.”

He yelled back and I nodded. As always it was comfortable. But this time, there are little pink pillows on the seat.

“Wow,” I picked up the little cute things.

“Was this made for me?” I muttered to myself.

I have always liked pink little things like this.

Once upon a time, when things were a little good, I had sneaked out a little money to buy pink toys like this. But soon after everything changed,  I had to abandon the child in me to hunt for food for myself and Josh, and now that things are fine, I seem to have forgotten how to go back and enjoy those things again.

I smiled, placing the pillows in my lap. Feeling a gaze on me, I looked up to find Zac staring at me.

Oh, it seemed I fucked up.

I started dropping them into the seat.

“Dont…. I mean, you can do whatever you like with them, they are yours anyway.” He turned back, looking forward.

What does he mean by they are mine? I chewed on my lower lip.

Maybe he made a mistake. But mistake or not, I was going to entertain myself anyway.

“Hm, do you know where we are heading for the business meeting?”

He hesitated before turning to me, “We are going to Russia. You may need to sleep, I'll wake you when we get there.”

Oh.  I nodded.

Russia was a good country if a normal person was going there, but Theodore wasn't normal. While the country was great, it had its share of crime.

I mean this is what I have gathered from watching TV and reading sometimes. But it didn't matter now.

I was going to enjoy the good part. Besides, I was following a strong force. Though it may lead to danger.

My plan was to watch the sky and clouds throughout the journey, but soon, my eyes grew heavy, and I gave in to the darkness.

I opened my eyes, only to close them back because of the sharp brightness.

My body feels so relaxed in a way that I haven't felt for a long time. This must be what it means to travel far in a comfortable space, I smiled.

“I can see that you are awake, Madam.”

I snapped my eyes open again and I zoned in on the lady in front of me.

She was in a white and green uniform, her hair blond, with unique grey eyes. What was she doing here? In front of me?

Wait? Wasn't I still on the Jet?

‘No Idiot, who lies, stretching their legs so comfortably in a jet. Dumbass.’

I ignored the voice in my head and focused on my environment.

I was in a white room, its interior different from the regular one, like it was made of clay yet so beautiful.

How did I get here?

I was last inside….. Oh no, don't tell me Zac carried me here.

Oh please. I closed my eyes, embarrassed.

“Young Madam, I’ve been waiting for you to wake up.”

I opened my eyes, almost forgetting I had someone here. Who was she and why was she here?

“I’m Svetlana, I’m the maid assigned to serve you.”

My brows furrowed. What does that even mean?

“All your things have been distributed and arranged, and more things you will need are placed inside the wardrobe.”

That didn't sit well with me. I didn't like my things being touched. But I don't say anything.

“If you are well rested, let’s leave to meet Master.” She bowed.

It seemed I didn't have any choice but to go with her to see this master. But who was this master?

“Theodore Mateo.”

My eyes widened. It seemed I didn't just ask that question in my mind.

“Alright.” This place was crazily luxurious. I thought, looking at the gold on the wall.

They have to be real.

Suddenly my phone started ringing. Turning around, I found my bag on the chair. I took out the phone.

It was an unknown number.

“Who could it be?” I stared at the screen, and it ended, only to start again.

I turned to the lady. “Please wait outside.”

She seemed to hesitate, but smiled and walked out. I picked the call.

“Who is this?” I asked, now impatient.

“This must be Ms. Selena Duvain,”

“Yes yes,” I nodded, confusion settling in.

“This is from the police station, your brother, Joshua Duvain, has been arrested for drugs with his gang members."

My body ran cold.
