“How was the meeting today? You seemed so focused on Valeria.”
I stopped, turning backward at Stephen’s voice. I let my lips form a fake smile.
“Did it? Was it very noticeable?” I asked.
Something about Valeria’s face has been bothering me.
I couldn't believe her story of falling, there were way too many bruises. Why won’t she request leave? And not to talk about how she gets frightened easily now, the total opposite of herself. She was timid now, almost like broken.
That’s why I couldn't stop watching her in the meeting room.
“It was, at least I noticed it. You shouldn't be that worried about someone who was once rude to you, she even hit you.” Stephen smiled.
Everyone seemed to know about the car pack.
“She isn't the only one mean though, two more people are.” Two more people, Sarah and Janet.
Stephen's smile turned awkward as he brushed his hair backward. “Right. I should keep apologising for their actions. If it weren't because of me, she wouldn’t be bothering you.”
I smiled, looking at him being all flustered. How could I blame him when he was the only friend I had here? Though Sarah and Janet were against it, I wasn't about to listen to them.
“You don't have to worry about that…. I’m not annoyed by it, I’ll just ignore them.”
Besides I had more things to worry about, more things as in Theodore Mateo.
Ever since I left his place yesterday afternoon, I couldn't stop thinking about how he once again looked at me through the glass wall.
His asking me to be his, keeps playing in my head.
And guess what second that.
Thoughts of what he could do to me.
I still don't know what he had placed in my ass., I didn't dare ask him about it. It was a bittersweet experience leaning more into sweetness.
The thought of having him see me that way still sends shivers down my body.
Should I just agree to be with him for the sex part?

At this point, I should keep my distance from him. Far away from his touch and his sinful body.
But how could I forget how good it had felt? No human can forget that especially with someone insanely sexily hot as him.
And then I went back to his room after I received the message from the woman.
Well, it ended futilely because the save didn't open with the passcode sent.
What makes her think she could guess information about him so easily?
Now I have to find another opportunity to go back to his place.
“And….” He dragged, making me turn towards him.
“What?”
He stopped to face me. “From now on, you have to be strong and ignore everyone for a week or two, something else comes up, and everything will be forgotten.” His gaze was concerned.
I sighed. It's not hard to tell what he was worried about.
Father coming here has put me in a spot. I smiled at his kindness. “You don't have to worry about me. I did nothing to be ashamed of anyway. I will just throw a middle finger if anyone dares come at me.”
Stephen scoffed, his lips widening in a smile. “Yes do that, I’ll be rooting for you.”
We started walking again.
“But what of the boss? That day he carried you.” He doesn't look at me this time and I wonder why.
Everyone may have doubts now afterall It wasn't a normal thing to see the boss carrying an employee.
I was set to be ridiculed once again.
“There is nothing between us, boss just happened to be in the position to help. You of all people should know this.” I explained.
“I believe you. Though I don't think others would, just be careful.”
I nodded. Soon we parted.
I should be heading to my floor, but I needed to share a document with Anastasia and then Theo.
I haven't seen him today.
My eyes stopped at the sign for the ladies’ restroom.
If I were going to see Theodore, then I should fix my makeup.
I started to walk, only to stop at the voices.
My brows furrowed at the familiarity.
“Why? You still have so much ego even with your ugly face? You should look at the floor!”
I flinched at Sarah’s harsh tone. Who was she addressing?
“Do you need another beating? Maybe something to make your face worse?” another voice asked and I was sure it was Janet.
“Why are you both doing this? I….I thought we were friends before? I… ”
That was it.
The third voice was of Valeria and that was enough for me to conclude.
Those shitheads. Don't tell me they're bullying in broad daylight and in the bathroom.
I don't know when my legs move, but the next thing, I’m standing across them. Valeria was the first to notice me, her eyes tearful.
“Are you seriously doing this? Does this look like a playground?” I yelled, my eyes not believing what was going on.
Sarah placed her hand on her waist while Janet looked at me like I was dumb.
“You should join us, after all, she was mean to you too. Why stand there like a saint?” Sarah said.
“Or maybe she wants to act superior, after all she is with the boss now. Someone from a poor background being in this company is hard. Meaning she fucked her way through the position.” Janet said laughing as she looked at me.
I glared, glared so hard that I was afraid of my eyes hurting. But instead of exchanging words with them, I stepped towards them and dragged Valeria to leave. But I couldn't just ignore them.
“You should be mindful of the things you say, especially towards the boss.” I turned to look at Valeria, but she wasn't looking at me.
It must be shameful to be in this type of position. I turned to them. “I won’t report this time, but I don't promise to do the same next time. The company may have a lot of principles but I doubt this is among them.”
Now it’s Janet's turn to hold her waist. “Now she lectures us, I mean why won’t she, after all, she has the boss.”
Sarah stepped towards me, her stance intimidating, but I didn't back down.
“Dont tell me you are going to report this over sex with the boss.”
Well, that was all it took for me to lunge at her.
