Chapter 32 Chapter 33
Selena
“What are you doing?” I yelled, pulling my hand away from Noah.
I glared at him. “What do you think you are doing, dragging me away from there, Noah!” My face burned in rage.
“I should be asking you that, Selena. Why the fuck are you dressed this way, in this fucking place? How did fuck did you even get here?” He stepped closer to me, and I moved back.
Now he pointed at my dress. I could tell he hated it. I knew he did, because there was once a time when I had dressed this way just to please him, but he had condemned it, saying I should never wear such clothes.
Back then, I had thought he was being possessive, but even indoors, he didn’t like it.
But now, I wanted to rub it off, to make him more mad and so I did.
I adjusted the gown, spreading the slit on my thigh, making my thigh out, and more visible. Now I was glad Halley had rubbed that oil on me.
“What the fuck are you doing?” He looked at me in disbelief.
“Fixing myself.” Now, I placed my hands on my waist. Straightening my stance.
“I don’t know who you think you are to drag me out here and speak this way to me, but you need to stop now and apologize.” I don’t know where the boldness came from, but I had spoken without thinking.
Or maybe it was from my deepest soul. I wanted him to apologize for his actions. For this, because his past deals will never be bought by an apology.
He frowned, his eyes in disbelief. “What did you just say?”
“You heard me, Noah. Apologize for dragging me here in front of everyone. Now they are going to have their gaze on me because of your actions, so you should apologize.”
He laughed.
Why?
Why would he laugh?
He pulled his hair back, and my breath caught, and I hated it.
It seemed no matter how I tried to ignore it, Noah still had the smallest or a bigger part in my heart.
“You have never dressed this way before. Did you do it because of me? Because you knew I’d be here? How did you even get here? This isn’t a place for you,” He smirked, and then his gaze moved downward to my chest.
Something flickered in his gaze.
Suddenly I felt chill, like a presence.
“Where have you been, Selena? I was searching for you.”
I looked around at Theodore’s voice. Relief washed over me upon seeing him. Our gaze locked.
His hair was styled to the side this time.
He came to stand beside me. And then his hand moved around my waist, bringing me closer to his body.
God why does it feel so good being held that way, feeling his body over mine?
My gaze met Noah, and I swear he was sprinting red, his face covered in rage.
And that did something to my stomach, seeing him so angry. Memories of how he cheated rushed in. Meeting him in his room, laughing.
I clung closer to Theodore and turned to face him.
My body to his, his hand on my waist, I placed my hands on his chest, and then our gaze locked.
“How could you come so late?” I poked my lips out in a pout. “When you said I should leave, I thought you would follow after. Do you know how it is to be here alone,” I whined, smacking his chest softly, then I rested my head on his stomach.
I’m definitely good at acting.
But why is his stomach so hard, yet calming? His grip on me tightened, and I almost gasped.
“I’m sorry, I was caught with something. I should apologize properly. You must have been lonely,”
His hands touched my hair, brushing my strands softly with his fingers.
His touch felt so good, I clung to him shamelessly.
If he ever caught on, I would decline it as acting because of Noah.
I raised my head, placing my chin on his stomach to look at him.
“I was, but Mr Noah here dragged me outside. It was quite entertaining, though he was rude, and he even hurt my wrist,” I blinked at him, raising my hand to show him my wrist.
One side of his mouth curled into a smile, his gaze knowing, almost amusing.
“Let me see,” He took hold of my wrist, and then his eyes morphed into anger, his face tightened.
I wanted to applaud him. He truly knows how to act.
His other hand left my waist to take my other hand. I’m moved to his side, to face Noah who had gone suddenly quiet.
“Mr Theodore,” Noah bowed his head slightly.
“What did you do?” Theodore asked, his voice cold as he held my wrist up.
Noah’s eyes moved to mine, clearly not understanding what he was seeing.
“I did nothing. I only took Selena out to speak to her, you know of the relationships we—“
“It doesn’t matter.” Theodore cut him off. “You have completely crossed a line by taking my person forcefully and hurting her. You should apologize.”
Noah scoffed, looking down.
His pride was hurt, I knew him too well.
“Yours?” His eyes moved from him to mine. “What’s he talking about, Selena?” He laughed.
Maybe he thought it was a joke.
I turned to Theodore, “Being outside for so long, I’m suddenly cold.” I clung to him, looking at his coat.
Yeah, the only way to cover up my body, and also go inside was this.
Theodore looked at me knowingly. “Really?”
I’m held by my waist and brought closer to his body.
His looks seemed to know my intentions.
“Since you are cold, then Mr Noah should apologize quickly so we can leave to inside.” He placed his hand on my face, tracing down to my chin.
I shivered.
Damn his smartness. He could easily hand over his coat to me. I smiled fakely, turning to face Noah.
Noah licked his lips. “Selena, tell h—”“
“Apologize,”
Noah smiled, and I bit my lips at how dangerous Theodore sounded now.
Maybe this wasn’t the best decision?
Noah’s eyes locked with mine. “I’m sorry for dragging you out, Ms Selena,” He bowed slightly.
I smiled. It should feel good but why doesn’t it? “Then, we’ll leave.”
With Theodore holding my hand, we head back inside. And I tried my best not to turn to look at Noah.
“You amused me, Selena.” We walked side by side.
“You also. You are good at acting.” I said looking ahead.
“I never act, Selena.”
What does he mean by that?
Entering the hall, more whispers filled the space, and all eyes turned to us.
Of course, he would be a center of attraction, especially to the women.
He may be dangerous, yet people came to speak to him.
Some about his well-being, and others for business. All not failing to look at me, but somehow, none asked about me.
My eyes moved all over the room, and they landed on Noah. Two ladies stood in front of him, and he was filled with smiles.
It isn’t my concern, but why do I feel an ache in my chest?
I took a glass of wine from the passing server, and took a sip, focusing on Theodore and his people.
“Seeing how you came with someone else this time, Hannah must be busy.” A lady commented. I smiled at her.
Who was Hannah? Seeing the way they spoke about her, she must be close to Theodore.
I gulped down the drink and took another glass of wine from a waitress.
Once again my eyes met Noah. His hands held one of the girl’s waist, and then his eyes locked with mine.
