Chapter 203 Chapter 203
Chapter 203 Chapter 203
Selena
I opened my eyes to whiteness. Everything was white. A flat endless stretch of it was above me, soft and blank, like the inside of a cloud.
It didn’t feel real. Could I be in heaven? I blinked again and then the light shifted. From too bright to something…then the whiteness turned steady and then it resolved into a white ceiling.
I could hear noise by myself. Who could be speaking so loudly? I tried moving my head to the side to see the faces of the voices, but my body felt too heavy.
“I….”
It was hard and painful. My throat felt like someone filled it with sand. My tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth.
I tried to swallow and it hurt dully, a very unfamiliar way like it wasn’t my body.
What was happening to me? Why was I in this position? I closed my eyes, panicking filling my heart.
I took a deep breath and it felt like I was finally alive yet foreign.
What happened to me?
Why was I here?
Why couldn’t I raise my body like I usually do? I couldn’t even hear the Inosjsbsbb words that were being spoken around me. Or was I in a foreign land, then what was I doing on the bed?
Oh my god, it couldn’t be I was placed on a bed as a sacrifice while they said incantations for me to be given to a god.
No please.
I tightened my eyes, and then a sharp pain shot to my brain. I screamed but I couldn’t hear myself.
It was all in my head, but the pain was there. I opened my eyes slowly and then….
Something flashed in my head…something black…a black heel rushing into my sight.
I shut my eyes immediately, expecting pain, but it never came. It was just my memory.
More shoes stamped on me and I could hear myself screaming.
That was my last memory before I blacked out. I opened my eyes.
Hannah.
That bitch.
My hands moved to my stomach. I swallowed with ease as I moved my hands to my stomach. My baby was safe.
“What do you think Theodore is doing now?” Someone said, but it wasn’t just someone. It was someone I knew too well.
Halley.
“Hal…” My face tightened in pain as I tried calling her name. What was Halley doing here? I was still with Theo in the underground so how come?
“What do you think? Boss is probably collecting goodwill for Selena.” It was Rayan that spoke next.
“What does that even mean?” Josh asked.
My lips curled into a smile. Josh and Halley were here with me. Then does that mean I was outside the underground? Or Josh brought her in. But was Theo okay with that?
It has to be if Halley was here.
I looked around the ceiling, then I turned….but pain shot to my neck as if asking me to stay put.
From the look, it seemed I was in a hospital? There was something about the atmosphere that didn’t feel right.
“What do you think?” Rayan asked back.
“Of course I don’t know, that’s why I am asking you. “ Josh yelled at him.
“Do you use your brain for only computers and keyboards?” Rayan yelled back.
“No.. You obviously use your brain studying the human parts that you forgot the basics to explain if you say something!” Josh yelled back, and I couldn’t help but smile.
They were both geniuses but in different fields. When did they start being friends?
“Can both of you actually stop arguing? Didn’t you say you have to be positive around Selena as she can hear us, Rayan? Both of you honestly need to stop arguing so as not to frighten her into not waking up.
My brows furrowed. What does she mean by that? From her words, it seemed I had been sleeping for a long time.
How long?
What happened to me? But I didn’t feel any pain, so…
“Fine.” Rayan scoffed. “I should tell you.”
I didn’t have to see Josh to know he must have rolled his eyes. Growing up, he won’t stop taking some of mine and Halley’s attitude.
“I told boss he should do good, and it will convert into goodwill for Selena to wake up,” Rayan explained and I frowned.
Just how long have I been sleeping for everyone to start thinking of miracles?
Wait.
What if I wasn’t really awake?
The reason they didn’t notice my eyes had been open for the past three minutes was that I was already a ghost.
My eyes widened.
Oh no.
But if I was a Ghost, then I should be able to stand and look at them right?
I pushed myself up, but it only shot pain to my heart. Again saying I should stay put.
That means I was alive, and not a ghost.
“And he really believes that?” Halley asked.
The room grew quiet.
“Yes…you don’t understand how much and how desperate he is, waiting for her to wake up. And it must be torturing for someone like boss, watching and not being able to do anything to help Selena.”
“So when he asked for anyone that did Selena wrong, it was to kill them as a payback? Isn’t that evil?” Josh asked.
“If he gets them, he won’t kill them. For someone whose first instinct is to kill, leaving them is collecting goodwill, that’s how important Selena is to the boss. I do hope she wakes up soon and gets back to him.”
Just how long have I been sleeping to make Theo like that?
Tears flowed down my cheeks as I stared at the ceiling.
I was causing him pain. He must have been feeling like it was his fault. He must be blaming himself. How could this happen?
Just how long have I been sleeping? My heart tightened, my throat dried.
I tried to open my mouth to say something but only a sharp pain resonated in my head.
“Please...” I tried lifting my hand, but I couldn’t, it felt too heavy. “help me.” I cried more, my heart hurting.
“Why am I heari….Selena!” Josh yelled, and more screams followed. They heard me.
I sighed in relief as sounds of chairs screeching filled the room. Rayan was the first that looked down at me, then Josh, and Halley.
“She is awake,” Rayan said, relief all over their face.
“I...” I tried to open my mouth again, but I couldn’t.
“Don’t force yourself to speak, Selena. I’ll take it from here.”
He moved closer to me and then touched my something beside my head .
“Everyone gather here this instant, the madam is awake, and needs immediate attention now.” He said.
“I’m sorry to say this guys, but you’ll need to stay outside. She needs an immediate checkup now.” Immediately more people on white rushed in, and Halley and Josh were taken out of my view.
“Thank you for waking up, now I get to keep my head from going under the boss’s knife. Stay put and you’ll be back to normal soon.” He turned to his team.
“Start.”
