Chapter 17 Chapter 17

Chapter 17 Chapter 17
Selena

“What about my car?”

“I’ll have someone take it to the company.”

That was the conversation we had a while ago.

I’ve never been so unsure of what to do. Between fidgeting with my bag and looking through the window, I couldn't pick one. And the worst was the eyes boiling into my side.

I could feel it. Not the awkward silences, but how he won’t stop staring at me. His continuous gaze travels down to my knee then back to my side.

“Hm,” I coughed softly, hoping to break the silence. But it was useless, because the silence returned.

I sighed, it was better to look through the window.

I turned, looking outside as the car moved.

Why was he there though? He couldn't have gone to threaten the grandpa himself, right?

Has my presence prevented him from harming grand..

“Ah!”

I gasped, almost jumping off the seat if not for the strong grip on my leg– the same reason I had turned startled.

The image in front of me renders me speechless.

Theodore Mateo is slightly bent over my leg, his hand holding my thigh as he looks at me.

My eyes were wavering, a hiccup escaping my throat.

“What..what are you doing, boss?” I stutter, his hold on the skin of my leg burning–in a good way.

Suddenly the dream of last night engulfed my head. The way he had touched me, held my body as he pleased me.

I shook my head. I was insane. I should slap my head for thinking of such in this position.

“You are restless. Keep still.”

He opened his mouth, but that was all that came out before his attention shifted to my leg.

How won’t I be restless?

What was I supposed to do?

Should I just act like it was normal for him to do this?

This was Theodore Mateo.

He couldn't have found my legs attractive, and worth sell…..

‘Don't flatter yourself.’

I pulled back my leg with unintended force to the side, pressing to the door.

“It.. It isn't..appropriate, sir.” I murmured, avoiding his gaze.

Lord! What the fuck was wrong with me, acting like a little virgin? Well, I was one, but.. but.. I shut my eyes tight.

He should say something, explain himself. But instead, he asked something nerve-wracking.

“You have never been touched?”

“What?” I yelled, my face turning into a ball of flame as I looked at him.

And his next words couldn't be more outrageous.

“Stop at the penthouse.”

“Penthouse?” I blurted out.

Why? Why would he want to take me to his place after saying that? He couldn't have truly taken an inter..

“Yes. You need to treat your knee. It shouldn't get infected.” His lazy eyes stare back at me. So relaxed like he didn't notice the turmoil I was in.

I swallowed. How should I act? I’ve seen so many bosses angered at rejection. And I wasn't in to anger him.

Something about his calmness was unnerving.

But, I still spoke. “I uh.. thanks for your offer, but this’s my work. Instead of the penthouse, please drop me in a hospital. I’m sure they have all it takes.” I murmured the last part.

My hands clenched my purse when he didn't say anything, but stared instead.

There was something about his gaze, it wasn't glaring, instead, it was searching.

Redness spread on my face, my face heating up.

He suddenly stretched his hand, almost making me flinch.

If I didn't.

“Wh..at?” I stutter, my eyes on him.

“The handkerchief,”

Oh, but why does he need it?

“Why?”

How audacious, Selena. Just give it to him. My head yelled.

“Too many questions.” His eyes narrowed, and trust it wasn't a pleasant sight and that was all I needed to I fetched the handkerchief and placed it on his hand.

What was he going to do with it anyway? It was just a piece of clothing.

“Lift.”

What does he mean by lift? With his hand stretched out towards me. It couldn't be he wanted…wanted me to place my leg on his….

I’m not allowed a complete thought as he grabs hold of my leg. I yelped when he placed it on his thigh.

“What..what do you think you are doing?” I stutter, frightened, shocked at the event unfolding.

But instead of speaking, and answering my questions. The handkerchief is wrapped around my wounded knee, gently, like my leg was delicate, and could easily break, his full concentration on it, his touch soft.

I should push him away. But what was this feeling engraving my heart as I watched his gentle touch?

Was the great Theodore Mateo usually like this?

He seemed to have a few words. His eyes speak louder than his mouth.

Right now, he looked just like a normal guy. A normal CEO of a company.

I bit my lips, not knowing how to act anymore at his gentleness. This wasn't what I knew

He finished wrapping it.

I pulled back my leg, his hands releasing me. “Hm, thank you,” I murmured. Not looking at him.

“Next time, don't go alone. You should leave with those in charge though you have a different opinion.”

“It's not like I choose to go alone,” I murmured.

Valeria was obviously annoyed, and won't follow me even if I ask.

“Speak loudly,”

I bit my lip, then turned to him. “I didn't request to come alone. I was assigned to it as my ways differ from the company.”

Fuck, I shouldn't have added the last part. Visibly, my words aroused something in him, those lazy eyes turned amused.

“Tell me Selena, how does your way differ from the company?” He was serious, his gaze was.

Suddenly, the seat turned hot. What should I say so as not to offend him?

“Uhm,” I opened my mouth and closed it back. But his gaze only says how intent he was on me answering him.

There was no way out. But there was one… Sudden boldness embraced my skin.

“From Valeria’s words and behavior, I’ll say the company always takes a brutal approach. She had asked to abduct and torture him. I believe this is the way of the company. And that doesn't wo—..

“Then what works with you?”

I raised my brows, I was cut off. I rubbed my hands on my skirt.

“Instead of violence, posing no threat is bet—”

“That's how you got hurt.”

Silences.

“I…he didn't mean to, he just…” I was out of words.

“Don't interfere anymore. Let Valeria handle it.”

I snapped my head to him. What was he going to do?

“What are you going to do? Threatening shouldn't be the best option. He only wants assurance that the building is handed to the right person, if you give me a little time, I’ll be able to handle it.”

He didn't say anything, though his eyes were still on me, assessing.

“We are here.” The driver called out, and I turned to look outside, hoping it wasn't the penthouse.

No it wasn't, it was the hospital.

I looked back at him.

“You rejected my invitation to my penthouse, it's only right that I bring you here.” He spoke, his eyes ahead, his arms folding against his chest.

If he was a normal guy, I would have said he was sulking, but this was Theodore Mateo.

“Uh, thanks for bringing me here.” I bowed, opening the door.

He doesn't look my way. Even when I stepped down, he didn't.

But just when the door was closing fully, his gaze turned to me, slowly, like a dream.

The door closed, and he drove off, leaving me in front of the hospital.
