Chapter 12 Chapter 12
Theodore
“How long are we going to stay here for?” Ethan complained beside me. He must be tired of looking at his phone. But I don't look at him.
Instead, my eyes caught on Selena’s window. It opened, and she pushed the curtain aside, then stared down with a frown grazing at her face.
She took a deep breath, and when she turned to the side, my breath caught.
Her eyes were teary under the light as she looked up, her eyes shining so brightly, yet her brows tightened together.
Why? What could have made her that way?
My fingers inch, enticed to touch her face. She was far. Up on her floor, yet she glowed. She was beautiful, but she seemed not to know that.
She clearly doubted me when I spoke about her eyes.
“She is already inside. You can't even see her so let’s go. You have a match in twenty minutes.”
A tear must have fallen on her delicate cheeks, because she wiped them, then she retreated inside, the curtain blocking the window again.
Why was she sad? What could have made her so? My ears burn as I clenched my fingers tight.
I had followed her after work, she had looked tired not sad. So why?
“Does anyone stay with her?” I asked, my eyes fixed on the window.
“Her brother.”
A brother.
It must be the one who picked her from the bar. They must have a close relationship.
“I’m sure you remembered him. She must have moved here to stay close to his school, though it’s far away from the company. But she is strange. Getting an average apartment, and a cheap car even after your mother’s offer. Or your mother couldn't have offered less this time right? What a shabby human.”
My eyes directed to the car in front of her apartment. It was indeed cheap.
Why? She could have gotten something better.
I turned towards the window again. This time, she moved around in her room. I had asked Ethan for the layout of her apartment so I knew it was her room. The apartment was indeed average, not fitting for the company.
“Arrange a car for her, and put it in my name. A card too.”
An hmm sounded from Ethan.
I sighed, placing my hand on my cheek. What could she be doing?
Taking off her clothes to shower? What lies inside her office? How smooth and delicate can her body be? Will her slim waist dance under the shower, her hands rubbing against her round breasts, down to her stomach then to her beautiful parts?
How would it be like to be able to touch her, and claim her as my muse, mine.
Soon.
Soon she would be mine.
“I’m sure she had told Mother about the warehouse. Increase the security. Make sure they don't penetrate through. And none of her men should survive, also make it look like we fell for her plan.”
Selena was no longer by the window. Too bad, I won’t get to see her till work.
“Why go through all that when we can just change the location. It isn't too late and the boys are already busy.”
I turned to look at Ethan, and his gaze was one of doubting what was going through my head.
“No. I want my mother to feel the taste of success, only to end up failing.” I turned to the window.
“Changing the location would make her doubt her little mole. I don't want to afford that now.”
“So that’s why? You are putting her into so much consideration. That's unlike you.” Ethan gazes keenly at me.
“No, it isn't for her.”
I leaned back on the chair, looking ahead. “Mother needs to keep using Selena so she won’t seek someone else.”
“We should be getting rid of her, like every other person instead of letting her off.”
Ethan wasn't going to drop it. I understand what he means, but I had set my mind. Soon, Selena would be on my side.
“Call off the match. Sergei should wait if they want one with me, while reflecting on what they have done. Take me home. I want to rest.”
Ethan knows not to object to me. And silently, he drove the car.
Selena was a threat. But unlike others, she won’t cause damage. I needed her to be by my side.
I entered the penthouse. Darkness traces everywhere. It was cold. I swallowed, my throat tightening, making it hard to breathe.
Why were the lights turned off? It never was.
The penthouse was a space I never visited. The company was large enough.
‘Or you are just afraid to be alone.’
‘Big boy should never be scared. My son definitely shouldn't be afraid.”
Crawls. Red crawls trailed my ears, my head.
I shut my eyes, my breath turning ragged. My ears burned, then I opened them, glaring into space.
I took a step, making way to the stairs then to my room. It has been months since I was last here.
I stopped at another door, wanting to open it, but I stopped, my hand stilled on the doorknob.
Voices, voices screamed from the room.
“So what! Why does it matter if I was sent? In the end, I loved you and you know it was real. You can feel it and I know well that you won’t hurt me, because you love me.”
I closed my eyes, pushing the voice off.
I folded my hand from the knob. I could visit it later. Turning, I headed to another hallway, then opened my room door.
“You came back later than I thought.” Hannah dropped her phone, taking the blanket off her body.
I trailed my eyes on her body. The white lingerie sits pretty on her breast, down to her thigh.
I entered inside, taking off my suit jacket, then walked inside the open door of my closet.
“What’s wrong? You aren't happy to see me?” She walked towards me.
Ethan must have told her about me coming home. She had the keys.
I took off my shirt, my pants followed, and then my boxers, leaving me bare.
“What a show. Though I wasn't expecting this, I could make use of it.” Her voice grew slower, and then I felt her fingers on my skin.
I closed my eyes, as she trailed down, burning down to my spine, slowly to my stomach, then she stopped on my cock.
“Ethan told me you went to Selena’s place. Why?” She took hold of me.
But unlike before, he fell lifeless and she still. Maybe she noticed it too.
I opened my eyes and took hold of her hand.
“Go sleep in the guest room. I’ll take a shower now.”
She let go, her eyes questioning. But I had nothing to say, nothing to give her.
Because I knew what was wrong. The path my body took, since I set my eyes on those eyes.
Selena.
