Chapter 219 Amalie

Chapter 219 Amalie
“Ahh,” I scream as I hold my dad’s hand. He sits beside me, trying to give me comfort. I see him grasp my hand tighter and squeezes back.

“You’re doing great,” he tries to sooth.

“I want my mates. I want more pain meds,” I plead to everyone in the room. I’ve been trying to keep my baby from coming for hours, but with the panic and stress I’ve been feeling, it’s not working. One of my books I read had mentioned that being calm will slow down the process, but it’s been a very chaotic day.

Kira and Sara stand off to the side, making sure that no one comes in. Their mates are waiting on the other side of the door. Gretchen and my father are fluttering around the room as they prepare for my son. My dad continues to sit beside me and hold my hand. Nick and Kayla are watching Rose.

“I know sweetheart,” he tries to comfort. “The twins will be here soon.”

“Not soon enough,” I growl. This roller coaster of emotions is getting annoying. I want to be mad or sad, not alternating between the two. “The books did not prepare me for this.”

“You are going to be fantastic,” my dad says with a smile.

“Okay, I’m going to check,” my father says. He lifts up my gown to see how dilated I am. “You need to get ready to push.”

“No, please. Not yet, the twins aren’t here,” I start to beg.

“Your baby is coming,” Gretchen says as she slips on gloves.

“I can’t,” I sob.

“Ama, you are so strong. But you have to be strong for a little longer. You need to be strong enough to bring your son into this world,” my father says.

“Sorry I’m late,” Vickie says as she comes barging into the infirmary.

“My mates?” I ask hopefully.

“Almost here, I promise. But for now, we’re here,” Vickie says as she stands on my other side. She takes my hand so I can squeeze it.

“I want them,” I sob as I squeeze her hand through the pain.

“I know,” my dad soothes as he brushes my hair from my forehead.

“Border patrol spotted them,” Vickie laughs. “They passed the border and heading straight here. They are almost here.”

“You need to get ready to push,” my father says.

“Not without the twins,” I say as I gasp through the pain.

“We can’t wait any longer,” he tells me.

“We’re here!” Mark yells as he slams open the door to the infirmary. Cal is right on his heels.

Mark races to my side and takes Vickie’s place as Cal takes my dad’s. They both hold a hand and squeeze.

“Sorry we’re late,” Cal says as he presses a kiss to my sweaty forehead.

“You made it,” I gasp.

“Okay, push,” my father says.

I grasp their hands and start to push. Goddess, it hurts.

“You’re doing great,” Mark says as he uses his other hand to brush the few strands of hair out of my face.

“Okay, push,” my father orders again.

I let out a scream. “I’m never giving birth again,” I growl as I push again.

“Here he comes,” my father says happily. “Okay, you are almost done.”

I try to breathe through the pain. Whatever meds I was given, it was not enough.

“Okay, one final push,” he encourages me.

I push once more. Goddess above, does it hurt. Finally, there is a release of pressure.

“There he is,” Gretchen coos.

A few seconds later, a body is lain on my chest. The body is lightly swaddled and resting over my heart. My breath catches in my throat as I lay my eyes on him. He is warm and still damp and perfect.

He’s not screaming like I thought he would be. But he takes bigs breaths into his tiny body. My son looks up at me with green blue eyes. He has wisps of black hair on his head.

I let go of Cal’s hand and I bring it towards my son. I gently rub the back of my finger against his cheek. He is red, wet, and absolutely perfect. I let go of Mark’s hand and bring it up to hold my son.

“You did wonderfully,” Mark says as he presses a kiss to my forehead.

“He’s perfect,” Cal whispers.

“He is,” I agree. I blink tears out of my eyes.

“Have you thought about a name?”my father asks as he types away on his tablet.

“Anthony Ryan,” I say immediately. Anthony after Rachel’s father and Ryan after Grandma Rose’s father. Names that mean something to each of us.

“Perfect,” Cal says as he places a kiss on my cheek this time.

Mark just places a kiss on my lips.

“We will need to get him to the hospital later to get everything logged and done, but you can stay here for the night,” my father says as he leaves the room with my dad.

“We’ll go spread the news,” Sara chuckles as she and Kira practically run from the infirmary.

“He is absolutely perfect,” Vickie says as she smiles at me before leaving as well.

“Rest,” Gretchen says with a smile as she cups my cheek before she leaves.

“Do you want to hold him?” I ask the twins, looking between the pair.

“I’ll break him,” Cal says, uncertainty in his voice.

“He’s too small,” Mark says.

“Come here,” I laugh wetly. Cal is the first one to come back. I hand him our son.

Cal takes him in his arms and hold him close. He looks like he’s about to cry.

“Are you okay?” Mark asks as takes a hand and presses a kiss to it.

“Better now that you are both here,” I say with a tired sigh.

“We will talk about the reason why you were alone, but that can wait,” he tells me.

Anthony lets out a whimper and the three of us freeze.

“Shh, it’s alright,” Cal whispers, soothing our newborn.

Anthony settles down.

“You are amazing, you know that,” Mark tells me as he wraps his arms around me.

“I don’t feel amazing,” I say tiredly.

“You are so amazing,” Cal says as he looks up at me.

“I think I’m going to take a nap,” I say through a yawn. My eyes are closed before my mates can say anything.
