Chapter 216 Amalie
Chapter 216 Amalie
“Ow,” I hiss as I sit at Mark’s desk at the pack house. I sort through paperwork regarding my alliance. The alliance, named the White wolf alliance, not very original, is asking to meet next month, again.
Since my baby shower, two months ago, we have been meeting once a month. It has been at my pack, since my mates won’t let me travel. But Luna Stephanie pointed out that next month, will be after I have given birth. She wants to host the alliance at her home. Her and Jonathon will make sure that their pack was secure enough for me to visit with my newborn.
“Are you alright?” Sam asks as he looks up from his book. He is lounging on the couch reading and guarding me.
“Yes, this little one has decided to kick a lot today. He knows his fathers are gone and he is already missing them,” I say as I rub my hand down my very big stomach. I can’t see my swollen feet, and I know they are swollen. My baby is just rambunctious as I’ve been sitting here since Cal dropped me off so he could catch his flight.
“You sure?” Sara asks from where she is seated on the floor. She has a few books spread out around her. Sara has a notebook perched on her knee as she transcribes the text.
If Sam and Sara were going to babysit me, they would at least read and study.
“Yes,” I say with a laugh. But my laugh turns into a grimace as my pup gives me another kick.
“That face says you’re not sure,” Sara points out.
“I’m not due for one more week,” I point out at the sharp pain that goes through my back. “Little one, you have to stop kicking me there.”
I catch the look between Sam and Sara. I really hope that they name their future children with S names. That would be cool. Focus, I think to myself.
‘Ama,’ Beren whines slightly.
‘No, I’m not in labor. I have one week left and we still have to find Devin. I can’t have my baby now,’ I growl in return. I pick up the desk calendar to write down the date of the alliance meeting, when pain shoots again. The pain practically ripples through me.
“Call the Alphas,” Sara says as she moves to my side.
Sam nods as he stands behind me. His eyes glaze over as he mechanically gets out his phone
“You do not need to bother them,” I whine.
Cal just left five hours ago, and Mark is meeting with a council member in Pennsylvania.
I can’t go into labor. It took me days to convince Mark to go follow up on the lead in Pennsylvania. Cal had made James and Sam promise that one of them would be with me every single second before he took off towards Alpha Jonathon. If I go into labor now, the pair will never leave me alone again.
“It’s Braxton Hicks contractions that father was telling me about,” I say dismissively.
“Skol says it’s not,” Sam points out as he brings the phone to his ear.
“Well, your wolf is not a doctor,” I point out as I rub my back slightly.
“Are you timing the contractions?” Sam asks.
“Yes,” the witch says to her mate.
“You don’t have to do that,” I say dismissively. “Ow.”
“Yep, we’re getting you to the hospital,” Sara says as she starts to guide me from the office.
“Dr. Will is on his way,” Sam says as he waits for his phone to connect to my mates.
“I want Cal and Mark,” I say as I burst into tears.
“The Luna is going into labor,” Sam says simply before he hands me his phone.
“Love,” Cal says over the phone.
“I’m here darling,” Mark says as well.
“I can’t be going to into labor. You both aren’t here with me,” I sniffle. “I need you both.”
“I’m heading back to the airport,” Cal says. “I get the first flight I can.”
“I’m getting ready to board now, I was going to surprise you,” Mark says. “A little over a four-hour flight and then less than an hour run until I’m home.”
“Hurry,” I beg.
“I’m boarding, I love you so much and will see you soon,” Mark says before he hangs up.
“I’m twenty minutes from the airport,” Cal tells me over the phone. “I might lose the connection as I drive. But as soon as I get a signal, I’ll call right back.”
“I can’t do this,” I start to cry.
“Yes you can, you are so strong,” Cal assures me.
“I’m here,” my father says as he rushes into the office. I look around, I only made it to the couch and no farther.
“Is there anything you can do to stop me from going into labor? I need my mates,” I cry.
“If the baby is coming, he’s coming,” my father says. He turns and looks at Sam and Sara, “Okay, let’s get her to the infirmary.”
“But it doesn’t smell like the twins,” I growl in irritation.
“James will run to your house and grab a shirt from each of them,” Sam assures me.
“It’s not the same,” I hiss as my father tries to guide me from the room. “No,” I protest I don’t want to leave the office that smells like my mates. I am about to say something else, when our rogue alarm goes off.
“Get her to a safe room,” Cal orders sharply as the phone disconnects.
“So much for being here the whole time,” I growl in irritation.
“Okay, sweetheart,” my father says as he picks me up.
“Nope, I’m not hiding away from everything,” I growl fiercely. I’m so sick and tired of everything that can go wrong, go wrong. I want my mates and peaceful delivery.
“You are going to the safe room, and you are going to stay there this time,” Sam growls right back.
“Take me to the rogues,” I order. I let some of Selene’s power out to show that I mean business.
“What’s your plan? Use the goddess’s power to order them to stand down?” Sam asks.
“Yes, now take me to them so I can order them away,” I tell my father.
“You know I can’t do that,” he sighs as he walks out of the room and towards the nearest safe room.
“Nope, I will waddle my fat ass out of here and confront them myself,” I growl. I’m so done right now. I want my mates. I want these rogues to go jump off a cliff. I want peace and quiet to bring my son into this world.
“Well, look at what we have here,” Devin growls as he walks towards me with a swagger. “Did your mates run off and leave their pretty little Luna all alone?”
“I told you that they would fall for it,” Melissa says as she appears from behind him.
