Maricela was already in tears, “Cedrick, stop talking, I’ll turn myself in, don’t speak for me, don’t fight with Lucille because of me, I don’t want you to be scolded by Lucille, L… I just want us all to be happy… Lucille, please stop talking about Cedrick, okay?
It’s my fault, you can scold me, you can hit me or let the fire burn me once, just please don’t scold Cedrick…”
Lucille watched her performance coldly; she was really good at acting…
“Why would I scold you?
Why would I set you on fire?
Do you want me to commit a crime too?
I just want to call the police!
Aren’t you going to turn yourself in?
Go on!”
Lucille pointed at the hospital room door.
Maricela froze; really, she has to go?
“Aren’t you going to turn yourself in?
Why are you still standing there?
Or are you just pretending?”
It was the first time Lucille was so firm.
Cedrick rubbed his temples, “Lucille, don’t be so aggressive…”
“I’m not forcing her!
She said she would turn herself in!

Now she’s not going; what else is it but acting?”
Maricela burst into tears with a “wah,” “I’ll go!
I’ll turn myself in now!”
Maricela twisted her waist and ran out of the room, crying as she ran.
“Maricela!
Maricela !”
Cedrick, anxious, immediately got up to chase after her, ran to the door, suddenly remembered something, turned back, and hurriedly said to Lucille, “Lucille, Maricela is proud and can’t bear any grievance; going like this, I’m afraid she might do something rash, I’ll go check and be back…”
Lucille looked at him and just found it funny.
How anxious was he about Maricela leaving?
He couldn’t even stay to finish his words before leaving; instead, he spoke while walking, and by the time he reached the door, he hadn’t finished speaking; his last words, accompanied by his urgent running, vanished into the corridor…
Lucille sat on the hospital bed, dazed, her heart still aching faintly.
Clearly, she was almost burned to death; clearly, Maricela might be the suspect; yet in his heart, the scale still tipped toward Maricela…
Nothing could overcome the Maricela in his heart.
She had nothing left to hesitate about; she went directly to the local police station to report
the case.
She told the police everything she experienced today at Cedrick’s company: the meeting room caught fire, the fire department was called, the facts were all there; she submitted the video from her phone showing the wires cut in the meeting room, her hospital diagnosis of allergy, and the rashes on her face that hadn’t faded, all evidence of her mango juice allergy.
Also, she submitted all the records of her distress calls from the meeting room, including the only connected call with the receptionist.
As for who cut the wires and who locked the door, there’s surveillance in the corridor outside

the company meeting room. She didn’t know if the footage was still intact, but she trusted the police could figure it out.
After reporting it, she took the receipt and went home.
Her ID was back in her hands. She rescheduled her visa appointment, took her allergy medicine, and went to bed early.
She had forcefully erased the name Cedrick from her heart. She didn’t care at all whether he found Maricela today or what he did after finding her.
Whether he found her or not, the police would find her anyway.
She just wanted to be okay herself.
