Chapter 327
Robert said, “You can back out anytime. We can afford to wait, as long as you can afford to drag this out.”
Cedrick’s expression changed. “You wouldn’t be despicable enough to suppress me in the business world, would you?”
Robert smiled. “Mr. Maynard, I think you’re using the wrong word. How can you call what happens in the business world suppression?
That’s called competition.”
Cedrick’s face paled drastically. He stood frozen in place until Robert left.
He suddenly realized something. Once he transferred this money to Lucille, he and Lucille would have no more connection. After 30 days–no, it wasn’t even 30 days anymore–the day they got the divorce certificate would very likely be the last time they ever saw each other in their lives…
No…
A sudden pain struck him hard in the chest.
He quickly chased downstairs, saw Robert’s car still parked by the roadside, and ran over, pounding hard on the car window.
Robert looked at him coldly.
“I have something to say!
I really do have something to say!”
Cedrick said loudly.
Robert rolled down the window, his look a clear warning: This had better be important.
Cedrick had nothing…
He racked his brain, then suddenly had an idea and said urgently, “Right, Lucille, your parents and your brother–what’s your plan for them now?”
It was the only thing he could think of. In reality, he knew it was a pointless question, because

Robert wouldn’t let that family off the hook. He even knew that Robert was suing them for abuse.
“I’m talking about Tristen’s company!
Tristen’s company is still involved with mine. Just tell me what to do next, and I’ll listen to you.”
Cedrick said, breathing heavily, “Besides, Tristen wasn’t directly involved in the abuse. What’s going to happen to him?”
Robert and Lucille both looked at him as if he were an idiot.
Cedrick finally let go of the car window, defeated.
He felt like an idiot, too.
The questions he just asked were just to have something to say.
Robert might look gentle and refined with his gold–rimmed glasses, but he’s very clear about his grudges. He’d given up on Lucille’s parents long ago, so why would he show them any mercy?
He heard that Lucille’s parents are in a detention center and refuse to leave.
Someone went to post bail for them, but they wouldn’t come out.
He’d also heard the reason why. It was safer inside than out. Once they were out, they were afraid Robert wouldn’t let them off easy.
And with Robert’s methods, he could teach them a lesson without leaving any evidence, because he’s Leo.
The story of how a young Leo fought his way through a huge family to become its head was the stuff of legend.
He just never expected that Robert was actually Leo.
Cedrick gave a bitter smile.
He didn’t know what was wrong with him, why everything had been so bitter lately.
The food he ate tasted bitter, the water he drank was bitter, and even the air seemed to have a faint bitter taste.
In the afternoon, David came to his office, setting up a hangout, asking him to go out for dinner with Harlan and Maricela.
Cedrick sat behind his desk, suddenly feeling a complete lack of interest. “Forget it, I’m

“Cedrick…” David said, “You think I can’t afford a meal?

I just noticed you’ve been really down these past few days and thought we could all get together and have some fun.”
Cedrick shook his head. “I’m not in the mood for a crowd. Forget it.”
“Cedrick, what’s wrong with you?”
David looked at him, his eyes filled with worry. “You used to love hanging out with us. As long as we were all together, all your troubles would disappear.”
Cedrick froze.
What was wrong?
He didn’t know what was wrong either.
