Cedrick didn’t want to answer at first, but after a moment’s thought, he picked up. “Harlan, the matter with Rossi’s company isn’t that urgent. Postpone the meeting to tomorrow.”

The call ended, and Cedrick slammed his phone down.
Walking into the living room, he saw the liquor cabinet in the dining area full of bottles. A sudden rage
flared up in him, and he grabbed a stool and smashed it, shattering the glass door and all the bottles inside…
The massive crash sobered him up a little.
Standing in the middle of the shards, he could almost see Lucille bustling around the dining room, ladling soup for him, putting food on his plate, orbiting him like a sunflower, always smiling at him…
He took a deep breath. He finally knew what he had to do. He had to go to the hospital to see his grandmother.
At the hospital, Robert was texting Edwin back.
Edwin: After we dropped that woman off last night, the VP from Cedrick’s company picked her up. The two of them went to her place together. Cedrick went up later. The three of them were there all night. Cedrick didn’t come out until this morning. Harlan came out an hour after that.
Robert: Okay, keep an eye on them.
Edwin: Something interesting must have happened.
Robert seemed to understand something and let out a soft chuckle. “Well, this is getting interesting.”
Edwin: Are you sure you don’t want to tell Lucille about some things?
