CHAPTER 30 Go raise your little bastard

Liz restarted the engine. Sitting at the driver's seat, Liz drove directly to Stephanie, who was lying numbly on the ground.

Stephanie looked at the car blankly. Through that glass, she saw Liz's eyes which were bathed in rage and madness. She didn't want to die, but she had got no reason to live either.

It came closer. When the car was a meter away, she felt herself pushed by someone, after which the car roared past in front of her. Who was that?

She searched for the man in surprise and found him to be Jack, who was supposed to be dead. By inertia, he fell on the other side of the car. Was he still alive?

Looking at the car which stopped for some unknown reason, Stephanie turned hopeful again. No, she didn't want to die!

The stop of the car was of course a pure accident. Liz was in that three-inch high heels, and one heel got stuck at the brake.

Liz cursed as she tried to pull her leg out, "Goddamn bad luck." With some effort, she finally freed her leg, but she was then pulled out of the car by a strong hand.

"Stephanie? You son of a bitch!" Liz gave a vicious curse after seeing her face, after which they broke into a fight. Stephanie was inherently stronger, so she managed to press her against the ground, making her unable to move. By then, Jacks" bodyguards arrived. Seeing the scene, they divided themselves into two groups. One carried away Jack, whose life remained uncertain, while the other seized Liz. Stephanie could finally take a break, but from Liz only since she still had to stay with Jack.

Being controlled by several husky men, Liz had to give up the thought of killing Stephanie, but she was still cursing, "Stephanie, you think you will be alright after you survive this time? I will make you suffer! I will!"

Stephanie was supposed to leave on another car, but it would take them a while to move the badly injured Jack. She thus walked to Liz, looking at her.

Stephanie's gaze was imposing. Liz found her to be so similar to Jack. Thinking about Jack, Liz's reason was back for a bit. "Is Jack still alive?"

Stephanie responded with a slap in the face. Liz was at first perplexed; then she began to laugh and talk in a delirious way, "Go on, beat me! Jack is now dead. You are going to live the rest of your life in pain. I am staying with Jack, and you can no longer be on my way! Go raise your little bastard!"

Liz's words were nasty, but Stephanie remained untouched. She gave her another slap and said resolutely, "Jack's not going to die!"

Stephanie wouldn't waste more time with Liz and went to check Jack's condition.

Seeing Stephanie's back and Jack being moved onto the car, Liz got nervous and shouted hysterically, "No! You son of a bitch! Jack is mine!"

No one was paying any attention to her anymore.

Stephanie followed them to the hospital. She didn't let go until Jack was wheeled into the operating room. Watching the door closed slowly, her tears oozed out. No, she can't cry anymore!

She had to do something! But what can she do in such situation? Realizing how powerless she was, her courage and resolution broke into pieces.

She sat helplessly on the bench outside the emergency room, her head filled with her memories of Jack. The way Jack teased her, the way Jack tried to approach her, the way Jack cared for her baby… She regretted. She shouldn't be so indifferent to Jack out of the fear of getting hurt. It was all her fault.

Time ticked by. She was still sitting there. She believed that Jack would not die. He would not!

Five hours passed. Finally, a doctor in blood-covered gloves went out and asked, "Who is the relative of the patient?"

Stephanie at once walked over. "It's me, doc. Who's Jack?" Her voice was trembling, which manifested her uneasiness.

The doctor shook his head slightly. At this moment, Stephanie's heart sank to the bottom of the sea.

"The patient's condition is not hopeful. Please go sign first."

'sign what?" Stephanie asked foolishly. She tried hard to hold back her tears, looking pathetic.

The doctor had seen such situation a lot. He sighed. "There is hope, but it's not promising. Please go sign first. Everything is possible."

He wanted to comfort Stephanie, but it was barely effective. Stephanie felt like she had fallen into an ice cave. She kept dropping, dropping, and dropping…

Jack, please, be alright-

The doctor saw that she was fainting so he stretched out his hands to support her. He asked her to take some rest, but Stephanie firmly shook her head and refused. She must stay there, till Jack came out safely.
