Chapter 228: Now What Do We Do?

Chapter 228: Now What Do We Do?
Alasia's POV:

I have to say there was a lot going through my mind in that precise moment. As much as I wanted to allow Rameric to take the pain away, I knew in the back of my mind that's the last thing that I would want him to do. By having all those thoughts coursing through my mind previously, I had convinced myself for an unforeseen amount of time instead. That my actions had killed him. However, that was not the case as I'm now lying in his arms.

He was still crouching there on the floor as I turned to look up at his Beta Galien. That's when he spoke, "My Alpha Caine, I'm going to go and retrieve Alpha Raiven. I'm also going to send for Gladrian as well. If you are intention is to have her soak in the bathing basin, someone is going to need to come back and rewrap her wounds."

When he said that, I was quite confused. "Rewrap my what?..." I asked as I turned back to look at Rameric.

It was at that precise moment that Rameric slightly adjusted me in his arms as he made an attempt to stand up to his feet. He hadn't said anything to me or in his mind up to that point, from what I could tell by the Mate Bond, so I wasn't sure what he was going to do. Just then, Galien, his Beta, walked up and grabbed him on the other side, standing next to my head as he helped Rameric stand up to his feet.

"Alasia, there is nothing that I can say that can take all of the pain away," Rameric told me as I turned to look up at him this time. "However, in knowing that, I want you to know something else."

When Rameric told me that statement, Beta Galien took a step back, then walked around the stand to be in front of Rameric again. Galien wasn't looking at me, but he was looking at his Alpha. I could tell that Rameric was trying to process his thoughts before he said them, and this time, he did a pretty good job of keeping me from being able to read his mind despite the fact that I made the attempt.

'Please do not keep your thoughts from me,' I told him softly within my mind, causing Rameric to finally look at me. 'I know you feel remorseful for everything that happened to me over how ever long I was away from your side. I know I have faults for thinking that I had killed you. Nothing can compare to the pain that I felt. And most certainly, there is nothing you can do that can completely alleviate all of that pain from within the deepest and darkest depths of my mind. Nothing...'

"Seeing you in this position angers me. It hurts me. I have failed you, my Mate. I don't know what to do. I am unaware of what to do next," Rameric said when he cut off my thoughts. His head was lowered, and he broke eye contact with me, causing a whimper to come from deep within my throat.

Wait, was my wolf, Amora, somehow saddened by what he said? That's when Beta Galien took a step forward, drawing my attention to him as he still looked directly at Rameric. I knew he wanted to say something that might help the situation. That's when he spoke softly.

"Alpha Caine, if I may," Beta Galien spoke up at that moment, and his voice caused Rameric to look at him right along with me. "I do believe I know what you should do." Rameric didn't say anything at that moment as he looked over at his Beta, somewhat curious, just as I was as to what he was going to say. That's when Beta Galien continued his statement, saying, "Use this."

"Use this?" I asked him with a questionable tone. I then looked up at Rameric before looking back at Beta Galien when I asked again, "What do you mean by use this? How would somebody use something like this? What exactly is this that we are going to use?"

"That is precisely my point," Beta Galien said with no further explanation to help explain what he meant.

I turned to look at Rameric, and he furrowed his eyebrows and then his face relaxed as if he understood exactly what Beta Galien was trying to get at, although I had yet to come to that realization up to this point. I narrowed my eyebrows as I looked between Rameric and Beta Galien when I finally spoke up next.

"That's great. Is anybody going to bother to fill me in?" I asked openly, still somewhat hurt that I didn't understand exactly what it was he was trying to say.

However, in my defense, I hadn't been around anything like this ever before in my life. Even my mother, who was apparently the Fierce Lerion Warrior before my time, never had the opportunity to tell me. It wasn't until after I saw her in that strange sleep dream, telling me about everything about who she was, about who I was, and what was in store for me and my brother Brazen.

This was so frustrating. I had so many questions that I couldn't answer to better understand why certain things took place. I just know that I remember her words saying that I needed Rameric and that Rameric, who was not my Bonded Mate, would need me, especially when the time came. Especially when it would matter most. I was not sure what that meant when he first told me, but if it had anything to do with the bond we now shared, and if his knowing where I was at all times helped, then that might be beneficial.

'Do you know what it means?' Rameric looked down to ask me. However, when he asked me that the look on his face was something I didn't quite understand at that moment. What could he be thinking, as he somehow blocked me from getting through and reading his thoughts? For a moment, he looked up at his Beta and then looked right back down at me when he said, "We will use this to our advantage."

"Use this how?" I asked, still wondering what they were trying to get at.

"Vladic thinks you killed me," Rameric told me as he glanced at Galien. "Even the conversation in the carriage said as much. We can use this as he thinks I'm dead."
