Chapter 69
Freshia Ava's POV
I heard a knock on the door from outside and that broke my thoughts. After that, I invited whoever was behind the door to enter the room. As I expected, the figure who appeared from behind the door was Eros. The man smiled at me and started walking into the room to approach me. He looks so calm now. His personality changed one hundred and eighty degrees to his personality when he brought me to this house the first time.
Eros sat on the side of my bed facing me who was sitting leaning against the headboard. I looked at him and saw the scars on his face. Actually, yesterday I also saw him but I didn't have time to ask him. I want to find out who actually caused her face to look like that. Is it Martin or his men? And I decided to ask him directly.
"Eros, I didn't have time to ask you this yesterday, but may I know what happened to your face?" I asked. But suddenly Eros' gaze changed and I felt like I was asking him the wrong thing.
"Didn't Martin tell you anything?" He responded by throwing me another question.
"So it was really caused by him?" I muttered.
"You just found out that his true nature is eleven and twelve with me?"
I just kept quiet. After that, instead of responding to Eros' words just now, I actually got closer to him and touched the scar on his cheek. "Does it still hurt, Eros?"
Eros' gaze softened again for a moment, then he shook his head. Making me smile as I took my hand back from his face. “Fresia.” He called when suddenly we fell silent. I immediately looked back at him after previously my gaze fell towards the bed.
“Why did you decide not to go with Martin?” he asked later.
I furrowed my brows. Ah, so it wasn't a coincidence that I met him at the cemetery yesterday. Does he actually know everything?
As if he could read my mind, Eros said again, "Actually, when I handed over Amara at that time, I ordered my men to follow Martin and Amara to your hiding place. Since then, I have ordered my men to scout you out and give me regular reports. I deliberately wanted to know how far he wanted to go. Until finally I got a report that you were going abroad. I know Martin definitely intends to take you to live there. After finding out about that, I told my subordinates to follow me until I booked the same plane ticket as you. However, not long afterward I received a report back that you left the plane and did not go with Martin. And I lost track of you again." Eros told me a long story.
"Then how did you meet me at the funeral?"
“I was just trying to look for you in the most likely place you'd be and my mind fell on your grandmother's funeral. That place has a special meaning for you so there are high chances that you will definitely visit there. Although I don't know when you will visit that place. Until I had to send my men to always be on guard there until I got a report yesterday that you went to that place.”
I just nodded my head in response as a sign that I understood. “You haven't answered my question, Freshia. Why did you decide to get off the plane in the end?” Eros asked again.
“The main reason is because I don't want to leave my grandma here. As you said just now, my grandmother's grave has a special meaning to me. Of course, I won't leave her. Another reason, previously for whatever reason, my grandmother suddenly appeared in my dream. There she said that I should follow what my heart tells me and going abroad is something that is completely against my heart.” I answered.
"Besides that," I continued my words. “I don't know why but after knowing some of Martin's true qualities, I felt uncomfortable with him. I thought that it was not impossible that Martin would do the same thing as you treated me before. Martin was also very pushy towards me and that made me even less want to be by his side."
“Then why did you decide to come back to me, Freshia?” Eros asked again after that.
I was silent for a moment before finally answering the question that Eros gave me. "I've lost the people closest to me, Eros. Simon betrayed me for the sake of himself and his family, and even Amara finally left me for her family. This also includes Martin who went abroad to return to his home. Only I was left alone without knowing where to go. Suddenly I felt like I had lost direction and purpose. When I returned to my old house where I lived with my grandmother, there was only that house without anyone waiting for me there. It made me realize even more that I don't have anyone in this world anymore."
I paused my words to take a breath, trying to steel myself. “But I am just an ordinary person. I also want to have a house where I can go home and have someone in it who I can rely on. At the same time, my mind wandered and was focused on you. I'm starting to equate your situation with mine. Only you have the same fate as me, who has no one else to lean on. We're both alone." Then I looked back at him. "Is what I said true, Eros?"
He seemed to nod. “Then, just when I was starting to feel hopeless, I saw you at the end of the road looking at me. When I wish I had someone I could rely on, you were the one who was there that day. Therefore, without hesitation, I just ran towards you who turned out to welcome me according to my wishes. That's what made me sure I wanted to come back to you, without looking back to remember all the bad memories I had from you."
Eros looked at me deeply, then grabbed one of my hands and brought it to his lips. He kissed the back of my hand. "Then do whatever you want, as I said before you can rely completely on me." Eros then said.
“Our fates are so similar, Freshia. Likewise with parents. Even though we still have a mother, we are both alone. They left us, for their own happiness." Eros continued his words.
I furrowed my brow again, looking at him questioningly. "What do you mean, Eros?"
“I still have something to tell you, Freshia. Regarding your biological mother who is also still alive and abandoned you.”
