Chapter 44 Lawyer
We didn’t have sex, we shared a night of emotions, I drank a generous amount of wine, and we talked about everything, he never found the person that killed his family, till date, I didn’t want that for me, I didn’t want to feel the debt of never knowing I never found who hurt my papa, knowing I was not able to make sure he got justice.
By the time we woke up in his house, it filled good being here, but the moment we got that call, I knew it can’t be right.
“We got the footage, you don’t- I want to watch it.” I said cutting him off, my eyes were on his as we pulled his laptop to the bed.
I was scared because everyone in that house is my family, they watched me grow up, the took care of me and they loved papa, I needed to know why though.
On the first footage, papa was in his office for a while, after he was done, it was time for dinner before his meeting, he always liked to eat his dinner as early as five because he stayed up the rest of the night to work and he didn’t have time for it.
I watched as Sarah served him the meal and gave him the drug
“She won’t do this.” I breathed out as I continued to watch, my breath hitches as my eyes never left the screen
Papa didn’t eat anything after that, he left the house, the second footage was when I was in the bathroom and Adrian left to speak to the guards.
Sarah walked into the room yet again, every room has a camera, it was for safety purpose and I guess she didn’t even realise that.
“She won’t do this papa.” I breathed out, but she did, she didn’t care, she injected it into his water bag and that was it, the thought of that scared me.
My eyes filled with tears, she was like an older sister to me we would even have sleepover in my room, she taught me how to make a few meals and papa would always joke about how she is already a part of the family and she didn’t even know it yet.
We didn’t treat her like a maid, we could never do that, we cared for her, when her mama got sick, papa took care of all of the bills, he made sure she didn’t work until after six months.
“She- we love her, we care for her; why will she do this? She was the one that called about papa getting attacked, why would she not tell the doctor that he is sick, she knew he was, and she.” I was about saying when I chocked back on a sob.
My heart hitched and my mind filled with thoughts, my eyes filled with tears and I could feel myself losing my mind, the one person that I trusted the most , she will do this, after everything that happened, I know that papa loved her and he cared for her,
We were not even mean, unlike any other mafia family, we didn’t treat her like she didn’t mean any thing to us
“I want to meet her, I need to speak to her.” I yelled.
“When was the last time you saw her? Do you think she will of this of her own accordance, one thing I know about the mafia is, loyalty runs deep, you will never be betrayed unless the person has a reason to, unless the loyalty is not appreciated, unless you treat the person otherwise and someone like Sarah, what could she have been promised?.”
“Power, money.”
“If she needed money, your papa will give her, you will give her without any questions, if she wanted to leave and start a normal life, you will never hold her back. Your papa would have protected her, your papa cares for everyone in his mafia. Guards or maids, he cared for all of them and because of you, he has a special place for Sarah in his life.”
“So why the fuck will she do this?.” I yelled when I stopped to think, was she blackmailed, if she was, why didn’t she say anything to me or papa, we would have helped her, we would have made sure that she is fine.
I stared at Adrian with tears in my eyes.
“The last time I saw her, I haven’t seen her.” I breathed out, I know when papa got attacked, I didn’t meet anyone, I didn’t have it in me, I only stayed with him, even in the morning, I didn’t see her. “She was not there when he died, she didn’t come for the funeral, she, she is gone.” I breathed out.
“I think it’s too convenient that your maid will kill your papa for no reason then disappear after making sure he is killed, she won’t do that, and in the same day, the gang, they lose a member and his cousin replaces him, a cousin they have never seen before yet they are too amateur to realise you can’t trust anyone.”
“So I am right, someone did this all along. Do you think it’s my family? They never wanted him to live and with us not married, they are about to get what they desire, and someone called them, that’s the only way that they know he died, Sarah called them.” I breathed out.
She called them c she left after what she did, it was a chaos that no one even knew what was happening. No one even realize that she has left, I know they will realise it soon.
“They killed my papa didn’t they.” I asked with anger, I-stared at Adrain waiting for him to tell me yes, yet his eyes said it all and I am right about it.
“Call your lawyer Adrain, they did this for the throne and I will make sure they never get it.”
