Chapter 16 Him
“What is this Elara?.” Adrian does when he walked into the living room.
well what does it look like?
Last night I cried myself to sleep, I woke up with him holding me and his scent all over my body, I stared at him as he walked further in in grey sweat an my eyes were on it.
“You could aid me and I would let you touch.” Adrian stated and I looked away instantly.
“I was not- I didn’t ask Elara.” He said cutting me off, I just embarrassed myself, I should have being better at that.
I can’t believe I was staring at his body, I watched as he settled on the chair while I turned off the stove.
I made breakfast, after waking up by four and not being able to sleep, I knew what I had to do, I can’t be selfish any more, I can’t be always thinking about things that don’t matter and I need to be better.
“I want us to talk.” I breathed out, “help me take this to the dining room.”

“This is about my papa.” I stated, as my eyes met his, I fiddled with my finger a little bit, my mind filled with thoughts as I stared at him.
“I am listening Elara.”
“My papa has done everything to make me happy, when my mom was kidnapped, he made sure he was always there for me, he didn’t care if there is an important meeting, if I was scared and didn’t want him to go, he would always stay with me no matter what, when I hated something, he will take it away to make sure I never se with again, he is a great father and I want to do the same with him, I- I want us to pretend to like each other.”
“You what.” Adrian asked as my eyes met his.
“I want us to pretend that we are in love and you want me, all he ever wants is that I be happy, I have someone with me right, and I need to do this for him, this thirty days deal, we will complete it for papa Ana when we are done. I will tell him I want to be with you, I want do make him happy.”
“What do I get out of this?.” Adrian asked and my eyes met his, I didn’t think he would ever say something like that, I didn’t think he would need anything.
“You get to marry me, have the throne, is that not what you ever wanted.”
“My mafia is stronger than yours at the moment, more powerful. I am not doing this for the throne or the money.”
“Then why.”
“That’s not your concern Elara, you want me to lie and to pretend to your father, a man I respect, you want this to go on for two months and after that, you will leave, when he dies, you won’t stay here, you will find your way in another place.” Adrian stated.
I could never stay in this city after he died, it’s his city, ever thing will remind me of him and this city, I have only lost, I never once got anything, it always took away from me.
“The mafia ruined me Adrian, I don’t want to be any part of this, when he dies.” I stated so low. “I want out of this, out of the marriage, out of every arrangement , you can keep the mafia to you, it doesn’t matter to me, I will not ask you for money or a single dime, I just want to leave.”
“Your mafia will mean nothing if you leave, the guards and men, they will see through our lies, they will know for a fact that, you are not with me anyone and the throne can’t be mine, it’s only mine as long as I am with you, like i mentioned, I don’t want the throne, o want something else.”
“What do you want Adrian?.” I asked when he took a bite of the egg.
His eyes softly on mine yet his eyes was filled with darkness, its as filled with lust and my breath hitches.
“A kiss for every time I have to pretend in front of your father and when it’s all over, I need to know where you are even if you will stay away, you may want to stay away fork the mafia but no matter what you do, you are still your father’s daughter and a few already know what you look like, with the wedding, many will be aware of what you look like, I need to know you are safe.”
“Why? You don’t even care? You would rather prefer if I die and you don’t have to be burdened with me.”
“There are a lot of things you don’t know about, now it’s that a deal Elara.” He asked
A kiss for each time we have to pretend, I have never had my first kiss, o didn’t even during college and every one thought I was too chicken, they didn’t say it to my face though, only a few knew I am part of something dangerous and it scared them.
I have to do this for papa, he will die happy if he knows I am safe, I hate to lie to him but this is for his own good, I need to be there to make sure he lives every part of his life properly.
My eyes were on his briefly and I gave him a nod.
“I need your word for it Elara.” He said as my eyes met his, my breath hitches.
“It’s a deal.” I breathed out. “I will do anything for my papa just like he will do for me.” I smiled.
Adrain would have asked for something more yet he didn’t, why did he agree to let me go after the marriage, why did he agree to marry me if not that he wants the throne.
