Chapter 174
Chapter 174
Daniel's affectionate way of addressing Sophia successfully became an invisible knife stabbing into Benjamin. Benjamin's eyes grew even colder, and he couldn't care about anything else anymore, forgetting his identity as a CEO.
"Yes, I'm Sophia's husband. Legal husband."
His palm tightened forcefully, and his words sounded as childish as a kid's.
Sophia was caught in the middle between Benjamin and Daniel, in a difficult position. She bit her lip, watching the tension between them grow heavier. She smiled lightly and linked her arm with Benjamin's.
"Mr. Wilson, I need to head upstairs now. If there's time, we can have dinner together next time."
She did this partly to push Daniel away, and partly to end the current standoff between Daniel and Benjamin.
Sophia's hand was barely touching him - she wasn't even fully holding Benjamin's arm, just making a show of it.
Daniel's eyes dimmed, and the hint of a smile in them faded somewhat.
He withdrew his hand, seeing through Sophia's attempt to escape the situation.
"Of course. When I have time, I'll invite you both to dinner. Let's leave it here for today. I won't take up more of your time. Make sure to rest well when you get back."
"Tomorrow... I'll come pick you up myself. You just need to rest well tonight."
Compared to the childish Benjamin, Daniel maintained some rationality, keeping up the dignity Sophia deserved.
After saying this, he turned and walked to his car. Just as he pulled open the door, he suddenly looked up, his gaze passing over Sophia to look straight at Benjamin, whose face was still gloomy.
He curved his lips, his eyes showing obvious provocation.
"Next time we have dinner, Mr. White must come. I'm handling everything for Sophia now. In the future, I might even accompany her through all the procedures, so Sophia and I will have many chances to meet."
"But Mr. White is different. Mr. White is usually a busy man, right? Otherwise, in all the time Sophia has been at my company, I've never seen Mr. White show up even once."
At these words, veins bulged on Benjamin's forehead, his lips pressed into a straight line, his features turning cold and hard.
He stared at Daniel, unable to suppress the towering rage in his heart.
"I'll be going now. I won't disturb you two any longer."
Having achieved his goal, Daniel was in high spirits. He got into the driver's seat and drove away.
"You specifically asked me to come here. Is there something you want to say?"
Seeing Daniel leave, Sophia breathed a sigh of relief. She withdrew her barely-touching hand, her tone becoming cold and indifferent again.
"When did you and Daniel start being in contact? Are you already together with him?"
Benjamin threw all rationality out the window. The lines of his face were cold and hard, each word carrying an oppressive pressure.
"What do you mean by 'together with Daniel'? Even if I really was with him, what does it have to do with you? I don't want to waste more time with you. I have a concert tomorrow."
Sophia turned her head. She didn't want to explain anymore, just wanted to hurry upstairs and escape this suddenly messy situation.
Benjamin pressed his thin lips together and followed her.
"You still haven't explained clearly - what exactly is your relationship with him?"
He followed her all the way to her front door, questioning her nonstop. He didn't even notice that his face was full of jealousy.
"Benjamin, there are some things I don't want to say right now. Tomorrow is my concert. Stop wasting time in front of me. I need to go rest."
Before opening the door, Sophia left these words coldly. Then she unlocked the door and decisively closed it behind her, leaving Benjamin with nothing but a cold door.
Benjamin felt both angry and helpless, but he also knew that proper rest was crucial for tomorrow's concert. He stood outside the door, not leaving for a long time.
His heart churned with unease and bitterness. He pressed his forehead, his expression showing an unprecedented sense of powerlessness.
It seemed that ever since Sophia joined the company, everything had changed. She no longer revolved around the White family.
Matthew, Wayne, even Daniel - they were now around Sophia, and everyone's intentions were obvious.
They didn't even bother to hide it, writing it plainly on their faces. The strong sense of crisis surrounding Benjamin's heart almost consumed him.
Don't be afraid - he and Sophia still had a marriage certificate. This was the only card he had left.
No one knew when Benjamin left. When Sophia finished washing up and opened the door in the morning, there was no one outside anymore.
She quickened her pace with her violin on her back.
Francis was probably already at the company. She couldn't be late again.
Just as she thought, Francis and Daniel had already arrived at the company, with professional makeup artists and stylists ready.
Francis looked at the clothing rack being wheeled over, and his mouth fell open.
"Daniel, what's all this? These clothes on the rack are all designer brands. We're just having a small concert, there's no need for this."
Daniel stood up, his gaze falling on the rack in front of him. The rack was hung with high-quality, expensive, custom-made dresses. He shook his head.
"No matter how small the concert is, it's important. When Sophia arrives, don't say anything that will pressure her. Just do your best."
Hearing the favoritism in his tone, Francis pursed his lips and stood to the side with his arms crossed.
"Isn't this a bit too much? Sophia has a husband. Don't destroy a family because of your personal desires."
Daniel acted as if he hadn't heard. His expression was indifferent - these words didn't affect him at all, and even made him smile faintly, completely unbothered by the sarcasm.
"Say whatever you want. I'm not letting go anyway. I saw Sophia's husband yesterday."
He curved his lips.
"I'm very sure their relationship is already over, or at least the woman wants it to be over. Maybe the man doesn't want to end it, but I can see from Sophia's eyes that she has no feelings for that man whatsoever."
"I just need to wait. At the right time, I'll offer Sophia my help and warmth. Sophia will eventually turn to look at me."
Francis rolled his eyes dramatically, as if completely speechless at Daniel's twisted logic.
He shook his head.
"You've really lost your mind. Whatever, I shouldn't interfere too much in your business, but promise me you won't affect Sophia."
"She's talented. If she becomes famous, my name will spread along with hers. Alright, enough talk. Sophia should be arriving soon."
As soon as he finished speaking, hurried footsteps came from the doorway, seemingly running toward them.
Daniel stood up and walked to the door. He gently pulled it open, his cold expression softening a bit.
He looked at the figure jogging toward them from a distance, his eyes holding a tenderness that only appeared when facing Sophia.
