Chapter - 68: Castor's Surprise Visit

(Castor's POV).

I felt terribly uneasy seeing how Faiers had gotten into the car with Zed. Perhaps I was not meant to think much about it; I still felt uneasy, and it tore me apart. As I grew restless about the whole thing, I couldn't leave her alone with Zed.

She obviously liked him; on countless occasions, Faedra had wished that Zed was the father to her pups and made it known to us that she certainly would choose Zed if she was asked to make a decision, but that had not changed much to the point; it worked up my nerve by every minute. It wasn't like I had much choice when I got down to it; I barely had a few things done, but I knew I just couldn't have them both together.

Shade didn't seem bothered; he was up spending time with his new-found, long-lost love and had barely noticed that I was gone from the house. Initially, I had the intention to spend mere minutes back at the beach with them, but seconds turned to minutes and minutes into the house while I stared at them from afar, worrying wickedly about the entire thing; it wasn't so easy for me to see it! Both were smiling, laughing, hugging, and touching arms.

An unsettling feeling riled me up. They were always acting like they had nothing to hide and holding themselves in public she never would have done that with shade, and yet there she was acting stress-free and doing all sorts of things with sec.

I was quick, however, to take to the shadows as she kept to her walks. I didn't get it; she was not stopping—her eyes! I seemed to have trailed off into oblivion, and I couldn't let her wander further into the woods all alone, so I followed, and it came out of her. I didn't want anyone to know I had been around; to me, it was somehow embarrassing, but I had little choice at the moment

I just couldn't let her face death all alone; I had helped fight off the wolf, and now I was here standing before her eyes pinned against mine while I tried moving my gaze all around desperately.

“You are hurt. I'll take a look,” I added. I pulled her arms closer to me while she stretched her legs. She was bleeding. The wolf had probably clawed her a bit. I reached and  glanced up to her sides and her top seemed to have gotten Stained from a bit of blood

I saw claw marks there as well. I tried lifting up her top to check, but she pulled away from me before passing me a cold gaze that bothered me every bit. I swallowed hard.

“I'm only trying to check on your wound; you look hurt.” I repeated the words, still frowning, and her face deepened as she tried picking herself up from the ground yet fell to the floor at intervals. She shook from pain and her senses were a little jumbled as I could see how much pain she was in.

Luckily, the scratches were not that deep, yet it was bothering me a lot

“Just stay silent and stop being stubborn!” I complained from frustration; my words mixed with yells whole a scoff escaped her lips. I helped her sit on one of the logs, she was still looking at me, still pondering on what to say.

“Why are you here?” She finally asked, breaking off the silence between us, knowing so well that I had done nothing other than stall them all through the time they had both spent here.

“Was it a plan for the murderer? You and Zed?" She asked; there was something about the manner in which she had spoken; she sounded almost as if she didn't want or need me here; there was not a little bit of appreciation in her tone; besides, I was the one who had saved her; Shaw was here; she saw the whole thing, yet she just headed to ask about Zed as well.

We both shifted our glances in the direction Zed was running hastily toward. I felt my thirst run sore while he passed his glance at me.

“Castor? Why are you here?” He asked as well, his eyes darting over to Faedra and her claw marks. He reached towards her, slowly numbing his gaze back towards me and back towards the wolf.

“I followed you both; I knew she was not safe. Something made me think whoever had her at first would certainly make a second attempt, and I was right; I had blended; I've been the shadow all along, taking notes of what I could see and understand.” I explained while Faedra still kept her watchful and suspicious gaze at me, and it made me worried and sick a whole lot.

“Fine, what about you? You said you would protect her, but why did you leave?” I asked, glaring at Zed for a moment, if she had been in grave danger.

“I asked her to wait up. All I wanted to do was to get her ice cream. There was a cue, but I couldn't cut it all because I didn't want to. For real, Castor, how long have you been in the shadows? Was  all day spent with your eyes  pinned on us?!” Zed asked again, and I jerked the ice cream from his grasp.

“I haven't been here for too long, but wait, something has happened, no matter how late the day has been  I may be crashing along with you both for the night.” I added hastily while they both exchanged glances, but I could care less; for all I knew, I was going to give it a chance, and I would not allow both to be together all by themselves.

I just hated the giggling, the laughter, the smiles, and the tears that I had witnessed! such as Zed. Maybe I would rather stay around her, I didn't trust Zed one bit around her. He was sly.
