Chapter - 67: A Magical Power.
(Faedra's POV).
Zed pulled closer to me and wrapped his arms firmly against my waist while I rested my head against his shoulders. He always had a way to comfort me soothingly. I have always been grateful to end up with someone as he was as a friend. So far, he has provided me with all the things I needed, and here I am still acting off.
“I'm sorry, Zed.” I apologized and pulled away from him. I saw the look on his face—soothing, wanting, yet calm. He was the best I could ever want. In a man. I just could not stop feeling guilty at intervals.
“Maybe you are right; perhaps I'm still locked in their feelings; perhaps I still can't feel the bond all because of my pregnancy; I'm thinking you might be right; and after the delivery, I will finally get to be myself again... then it would not feel a thing for them! Anymore, their scents would no longer lean around me. Zed placed his index finger over my lips, restricting me from saying anything more than I ought to.
He gave me a warm and reassuring smile. Tucked the strand of fallen hairs behind my ears.
“It's okay, Faedra; I understand you.” He added while pulling away from me.
“I feel bad now; I never should have asked such a question. The only reason I'm here with you is so you can take your mind off lots of things. I should not be the one adding more problems to your mind. Let's just have fun; all this we will handle later.” He assured me once more. I nodded while the wind howled past my ears. It was darker now, but soon night would fall.
“Could you wait up a bit for me here? I'll be back soon. I promise all I need is for a few minutes to go on and let me know if it seems like anything else you might need.” He asked me, and I sighed and shook my head negatively while he nodded.
“I'm sorry, it is something that skipped my mind earlier on; I have to do it now, okay? I'll be back soon. Sorry that I have to leave, but stay here. I do not think you are moving an inch away from here, okay?” He asked, and I passed him a smile. He went up to the beach.
I sucked in the air, enjoying the feeling I got—the air reeling into me time by time, the soothing feeling I got—to me, it was everything so far. I wouldn't want myself caught up in it anymore.
I was drawn to the waters, wondering how it would feel at the time, with the wind cold and not many people around anymore. I proceeded down, dipped my legs slowly, and I was right. Cold chills ran up my spine, the feeling I had after the previous and recent turn in my life. I deserved a little bit of peace and quiet.
I kept my walks. All I needed was merely a couple of minutes, just some little time to blend in with the air, and I would return to Zed; besides, he would easily catch up to me.
Each step I took lifted the slots of burdens off my chest. I thought about my past, the decisions I had made, how I could have avoided it, and how I made some choices that had influenced the current situation I had been in. Finally, after a couple of minutes of walking, I aired my gaze ahead of me. I had made a fool of myself. I just couldn't get it. I had walked deeper out of the sights of the beach. I stared behind my back, and the sudden fear gripped me.
I was far away! Everybody else, it had gotten pretty far. I wondered why I had taken such a risk! I picked up my pace and headed towards Main Beach! , my heart thudded hard against my chest, and sweat broke off from my head. I didn't get why it felt like I was so paranoid; I could sense someone or something sneaking up behind me. I picked up my pace, not wanting to look back. I heard something running after me. I dared not stop it as I needed to get to safety; however, I tripped and fell flat on my face.
I couldn't move, my senses shook and my pups quivered, my eyes remained fixed on it. Every form of sanity I had was let loose on the spot
I could hear it now—the growling sound that it made—my throat dry while I watched my gaze with it—a huge black wolf snatching its teeth at me. The growl became more intense as it pulled towards me in an attempt to claw me.
A scream escaped my lungs; it pinned me down, taking me over to the ground. It bared its canines on my face, reaching to take a hit. I tried pushing it off my face with one push, but it tumbled over like a spark of light flashed towards it.
I shook, perplexed as I looked towards my palms. Did I do it? Was that just magic?
It regained its stance, this time more angry than it previously was; it bared Its canines! at me, I swallowed hard at the sight of its claws towards me once more, it got hauled over, and a couple of flames emitted from behind me!
I shielded my eyes a bit, coughing continuously, before looking towards the wolf. It was dead!
Slowly, fear filled me as I turned toward the direction the flames had come. Who had saved my life? I couldn't see clearly at first; I squinted my eyes.
The purple flames died away slowly, it seemed like poison gas, it was magic. I knew it already, I felt the hand reach towards me and lift me slowly up to my feet, the face became clear bit by bit as I was pulled out of the purple flame
“Castor?!"
