CHAPTER FORTY FOUR - FORBIDDEN ENTANGLEMENTS
CHAPTER FORTY FOUR - FORBIDDEN ENTANGLEMENTS
MONA’S POV
“Aster?” I called out in disbelief. “What are you doing here? With her?”
“With me? Shouldn’t that question be directed at you? Why the fuck are you in my bedroom?” Elena asked, standing up from the bed.
“You know what? I don’t even know why I am surprised. This is what you always do, the minute things don’t work out between us, you find yourself a replacement.” I scoffed at him. “And later, you will wonder why I can’t bring myself to trust you.”
Aster’s expression softened as he met mine.
“Hello? Mona, can you explain what you are still doing here?” Elena snapped her fingers in my face.
“I’m sorry,” I said to her, hating how fast my chest was beating and how upset I felt at seeing them together. “I was just leaving.”
“Mona, wait!” Aster called out suddenly and I stopped in my tracks, turning to face him like some lovesick puppy.
“Why should she wait Aster? I thought you guys were over?” Elena asked him seeming annoyed.
“Elena, can you just excuse us for a second?” Aster asked, standing up from the bed.
“Excuse you? Do you realise that you both are in my room, if anyone should be getting excused it should be her and—”
“Just give us five minutes!!!” Aster suddenly yelled at her and Elena went silent immediately, and walked out of the room not before glaring at me as she banged the door shut behind us.
“There was no point in asking Elena to leave because I am not staying,” I said to him, turning towards the door.
“I don’t know what you want me to say to you Mona,” Aster started. “You made your choice already so why are you angry that I have moved on.”
“I am not angry that you have moved on, you can kiss as many girls as you want, Aster,” I shouted back at him angrily. “I am angry because you are kissing her merely hours after you walked away from me and as far as I know, I didn’t make any choice. All I said was that I wanted to come here with Luka to get to know him better.”
Aster scoffed, stepping closer to me. “You didn’t make a choice but I made it for you. I have said it before that I am tired of you stringing me along like I am some dog. The only reason you are angry right now is because I am done and you hate it, you hate that I am no longer at your beck and call.”
“Are you fking serious right now? When were you ever at my beck and call?” I asked him and he scoffed again. “The only thing you ever did was try to force yourself into my life and then you got angry when I didn’t give you access.”
“Oh is that so?” Aster asked sarcastically.
“Yes, it is,” I shouted in his face, feeling heated.
“Then I am forcing myself out of it. You can go back to your father and tell him that there is no point in waiting till your birthday to appoint the next Alpha, the decision has been made already and I want no part in it,” Aster shouted back in my face and I stared at him silently, feeling my heart break.
I wanted to cry for some reason I couldn’t explain, I wanted Aster to want me.
He stared at me for a second and I feared that he would be able to read my mind. “You know what I hate about you?”
“What?” I whispered, wondering what else he was going to say to hurt my feelings this time.
Aster closed the distance between us, “I hate the fact that you keep denying how you feel about me.”
I scoffed slightly, like my heart wasn’t racing with his proximity to me. “And how do I feel about you?”
I made the mistake of looking right at Aster when I asked that question because before I could think, he grabbed my waist and pulled me to him, planting his mouth on mine.
My hands went up to his neck, pulling him even closer before I could control myself. I hated myself for this, but I could not stop/ I didn’t want to.
Especially not when his tongue entered my mouth, making moan out in response.
“I have missed this Mona,” he said breathlessly, before kissing me again. “I have missed you.”
His words drove me crazy, and his hands sent a trail of fire through my body, but his mouth, his mouth made me feel clinically insane.
I could feel the golden mark on my wrist heating up as he kissed me but I didn’t care. I wanted to burn with him.
He groaned as my hands went up to my chest and he pushed me towards the wall, trapping me between his body as his mouth plundered mine.
“It’s you Mona,” he whispered as he freed my mouth. “No matter how much I try to forget about you, it is still you. And I know you know it, Mona, you know Luca’s not it. You can feel it too.”
I pushed him back, but my hands were shaky on his chest. “I’m with Luca.”
“Then why are you still here?” he asked me and tears warmed my eyes.
“Because I am a fool.”
With that, I pushed past him and rushed to the door.
“You need to stop fighting this Mona!!!” Aster called after me as I rushed away.
When I got downstairs, Luka was still waiting for me, still standing in the same spot I left him.
“What took so long?” he asked when he saw me. “Were you able to clean your shirt?”
“No,” I replied too bluntly, looking up at him and trying not to hate myself for what I had just done. “We need to leave now.”
“There is no way we are doing that Mona, we have barely spent an hour here and I am not letting you run away this time, we are going to have fun,” he said smiling at me and pulling me closer to him.
God, I felt so guilty.
“No please Luka, let’s just go home. My shirt is still stained and I don’t feel too well,” I tried to dissuade him.
But Luka was still smiling, “You will feel better when you dance with me.”
“No Luka, just stop!!” I shouted suddenly and he looked down at me with a stunned look in his eyes.
“What is going on?” he asked immediately, seeing the exhausted look in my eyes.
“I…I…”
“She kissed me,” Aster suddenly said and I turned back to find him standing behind us.
Luka looked from his face to mine in disbelief. “Is that true?” he asked and I nodded back at him, knowing that I couldn’t lie.
