Chapter 32

Chapter 32

My heart race tripled and I retraced my steps as I heard their guttural loud growls. Before they could take another step towards me, they halted abruptly and widened their eyes in horror. I watched as blood spilled out of their mouth with their skin turning pale.

When they went limp and tumbled to the ground, I saw Desmond behind them with their heart in his hand– He had just plucked it out behind them.

The other vampires who were busy with their festivities stopped whatever they were doing and directed a cold gaze at us.

It wasn't surprising to see them react that way as they could tell when one of their members die.

They snarled with their eyes fixed on me.

Xavier and Carlos appeared at my front, protecting me in their grasp.

"Nope nope .You don't have to attack yet, mates," Damon announced to his members who growled angrily as they felt they wouldn't be opportuned to get back at us for killing their men.

"But they killed one of us. We can't just watch as they invade our quarters and kill more of us? We have to fight back," Gary, Damon's personal assistant, blurted as he approached Damon. He was known to be mouthy, proud, violent and inhumane because he was a close friend to Damon, who was the head of the vampires.

I watched as Desmond swiftly appeared at Gary's front and grabbed him angrily by the neck.

Gary coughed and choked from Desmond's grip, he then smirked and laughed sarcastically as he watched Desmond tightening his grip on him.

"If you dare utter another word, trust me, I'll drag your intestines and make you feed on it." Desmond warned with gritted teeth as he glared at him, his veins popped out and the anger on his face could kill at a spot.

"Why don't you go ahead and kill me?" Gary boasted with a sly smile.

"You killed your own people. You betrayed your own community. It's not surprising if you do worse than that. I believe you know what awaits you when you kill me, so go on!"

"SHUT UP!" Desmond thundered as he smashed him angrily at a wall.

"Easy with your temper, brother. Actually, it feels good to see you angry after a long time." Damon teased as he approached Desmond with a smirk.

"You!" Desmond growled as he gripped Damon by the collar..

"Easy –easy. We don't want things getting out of hand, do we? I believe you know what my men can do to your friends if you have ulterior motives."

"Shut the fk up and tell me what you did to my friend!"

"What friend?"

"Quit acting dumb. It doesn't suit you," Desmond mumbled with gritted teeth as he glared at him.

"Oh, I see. That pretty girl with wavy blond hair?"

Desmond, who was now enraged at his pretense, pinned his brother to the wall and scowled at him. "I will make you rot in hell if I learn that you laid a finger on her. Now tell me, where the hell did you keep her?!"

"Attacking Hazel wasn't my intention. Her presence was not necessary for us to accomplish our goal. It was only her overly nosy behavior that led her to fall into her own trap," Damon blurted and teased before sighing.

"Our aim was to get your precious mate, whom, I suppose, is camelia," Damon admitted as he turned to glance at me, his icy gray eyes causing me to shudder and freeze a spot.

Carlos scowled at Damon and threatened, "Don't you dare harm our mate! You will regret your existence if you try to do so. If you want to get to her, then you have to get to me first."

"Tell me why you're doing this, Damon? What do you gain by doing all of these? " Desmond asked calmly, trying to get the attention of his brother.

"I've given you everything you ever wanted. My support, my patience and even my position as the leader so you wouldn't have to harm my mate or any of the werewolves. What more do you want? Tell me!"

"You want to know what I want? I need the seal in Goldmoon's pack, tell your friend, Carlos, to get it for me and then I won't have to think of harming your other friend, Hazel." Desmond uttered with a lopsided smile as he watched the shocked look on Carlos's face.

"Is that why you're doing all of these?" Carlos asked, his face reddening in fury as he clenched his fist.

"Yes. According to the moonlight witches, I heard it's in your pack. Give it to me and I won't have to harm your dearest friend."

"I think you're mistaken. The moonlight witches are enemies to my father and Goldmoon pack. They must have fooled you so you could wage war against us. I'm sure of this," Carlos admitted convincingly but Damon smirked, losing his patience.

"You're testing my patience, Carlos." Damon remarked with gritted teeth.

"The witches are only lying to you. You're getting nothing because it's not in our pack and neither is it with my father," Carlos blurted angrily while an enraged Damon ran swiftly to a room and appeared with Hazel in a couple of minutes.

Hazel looked exhausted and weak. The Goddess knows what they must have done to her.

"Your friend here bit Damien, who happens to be one of my men. Not only that, Desmond, my brother, killed three of my men not long after he showed up. Murder against my people is something I will never tolerate,"

"And because you've refused to comply with me, Carlos, by telling me where the seal is. I'm left with no choice but to kill her,"
Damon muttered with his teeth shifting into fangs. Before they could try to stop him, he turned to sink his large canines on Hazel's neck, sucking her hungrily In fury.

"NO!!"
I cried as I saw Hazel drop to the ground limply. Her pretty teary hazel eyes were the last thing I saw before she finally shut them.

'This couldn't be happening. This can't be real.'

I muttered as I dropped on both knees, trying not to believe what I had seen.
