Chapter 136: Coming Together
Chapter 136: Coming Together
Jaycee’s P.O.V.
We woke up around seven the next morning, after showering, eating breakfast and having a cup of coffee we headed down to the store to get ready for clients to arrive, I also called Carmela and had her tell Brenda Sue and Shirley to come in for an interview. Hopefully having them work or me will not be a mistake. We walked to the downstairs part of the building at eight-thirty and got things sorted out to start our workday. After we both logged in to our computers, I grabbed two clip boards, two job applications and two pens and set them on the reception desk. I then went to my cubicle and checked the time of the cake testing appointment.
“We have cake testing at eleven today, that is if you don’t have anything scheduled.” I say to Ace as he checks over his schedule.
“No, nothing planned.”
“I’ll put a sign on the door letting clients that show up while we are gone to either come back later or call for an appointment.” I tell him as I unlock my office door.
I log in and as soon as it is done booting up, I start my search for basic work ethics handbook. I downloaded and printed out two copies, then I typed up my own rules that I will have here for employees. Saving my work and printing out two copies, I then stapled it to the back of the two handbooks that I printed out. I also printed out the needed paperwork for hires. I also put those two sets of documents clipped to two clipboards and leaving and locking my office door I then walk to Ace.
“I hope if they show up they we be here before we leave.” I say to Ace as he straightens up his desk.
“I am bored! He says coming up to me and pulling me towards him in a passionate kiss. It did not last long as the bel above the door rings out. Walking out of Ace’s cubicle, I come face to face with Brenda and Shirely.
“Hi girls.” I say greeting them.
“Hi Jaycee, Carmella said that you were willing to see about getting us jobs.” Brenda Sue said both stood at the reception desk.
“Yes, I know you are probably confused about why, since the incident with Janet. But I am not going to hold a grudge and decided to get to know both of you. Plus, I want to help my two new friends.” I inform them as I pick up the two clipboards from the desk, giving them each a pen and a clipboard. “You can go ahead and sit over there while you fill out the job applications.” I say to them as I point to our waiting area.
They took the clipboards from me and walked over to the waiting area, sat down, and started filling out the application. I took the set at the desk and waited for the to finish or to take in walk ins. A half an hour later they came up and turned in their applications, motioning to them to sit back down I look over the two applications, deciding on giving them a job I called them both back up to the desk.
“Come with me.” I say having them follow me to the tabe in the middle of the room. Motioning them to take a seat, I went to my office for the other two clipboards and came back out, locking the door behind me. I handed each of them a clipboard and then took a seat. “On the top you will find the normal forms to fill out for employment; the booklet underneath is your handbook. If you will open your handbook to the last page, please.” I say to them as I sat there waiting for them to do what I instructed them. “Ok, later today I will have three clipboards hanging up on the wall outside of my office, one will be sign in sheet this way if by any chance I can’t get the times that you have worked from the computer I have it in writing, the second one will be an in and out this way we know when you leave the office for such reasons as breaks and clients, the third one will be a record of your commission. You will be paid twenty dollars an hour, however your clients, which is your commission, are fifty dollars and an hour. When you have no clients, we all take turns covering the reception desk. As you can see behind you there are three other cubicles you have your choice of which one you want to work in, and we will have computers for you by the end of today. After you are down with the forms I will show you to the stock room and get you the supplies that you will need to perform your job.” I say and then I get up and head into my office, leaving the door open. I started working on the forms for the three clipboards.
“Jay, we need to leave. What are you going to do about them?” Ace says tapping a finger on the door and then pointing his thumb at the girls.
“Can you see how far they have gotten; we may have to leave them here.” I say to him standing up and grabbing my purse out of one of the desk drawers. He left me and walked over to them.
“How far have you two gotten with those forms?” He asked them to stand by the table.
“We just finished.” Brenda Sue said as she hands her clipboard over to him. I come over to them.
“This is a part-time position, you will be working three days a week or six hours, your break will be at three or later if you are busy at the time. Brenda Sue would you be ok working Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays?”
“Yes, that is fine.”
“Good you can start right away by covering the reception desk, I'll sign you in when we get back. If anyone comes in, you can give them a choice to wait or to make an appointment. Shirely, do you have any problems working on Saturdays?”
“No.”
“Ok, then you will work on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. You both will work from twelve noon to six in the evening. I must go. Hae a good day, Brend Sue if you have any questions call us, the numbers are on the cards at the desk.” I say as Ace grabs my hand and we walk out the back door to the car.
Ace and I drove over to the bakery to meet with Ricardo and Carmella. We parked the car in front of the shop and got out; we noticed them standing outside waiting for us.
“Sorry we’re late, hired Brenda Sue and Shirley and had to go over last-minute stuff with them before we left. I have Brenda Sue starting today she is there covering reception.” I explained as we stepped in front of them.
“That’s ok we figured as much and let her know.” Carmella said as Ricardo opens the door for us to enter.
