Chapter 50

Chapter 50

Here, Isabella was focused on listening to Saskia talk about how she met Stanley.

Suddenly, a cold and displeased voice came from above her head.

"Looks like you've been resting well lately. After working all day, you still have the energy to come to a bar?"

Seeing William suddenly appear, Isabella's eyes widened in surprise.

"Mr. Brown, what are you doing here? What a coincidence! Are you here looking for someone too?"

Saskia looked at them with a gossipy expression, holding back laughter without saying a word.

William's face immediately darkened.

"Leave the bar now, immediately, or I'll dock your pay."

Isabella's expression froze. Before she could explain, William had already turned and left.

Isabella couldn't help feeling annoyed.

What a fate this was.

She could run into William even here.

But William was really something - even after work hours, he still had to control everything.

Saskia was already laughing so hard beside her that she couldn't close her mouth.

"So this is your boss? I didn't expect him to be so handsome in person. No wonder so many women are crazy about him. But I didn't expect him to care about you so much."

Care?

Isabella sighed with a headache.

"Are you sure he's not just tormenting me? What kind of boss manages where their employees go after work?"

It had to be said, William was really weird in this regard.

But Saskia shook her head, cupping Isabella's face with complete seriousness in her eyes.

"Isabella, he's not tormenting you at all - he clearly likes you! Otherwise, why wouldn't he manage other employees but come specifically to manage you? This is a man's possessiveness at work!"

Isabella's brain instantly froze.

William liked her? How was that possible?

She did have a one-night stand with William, but William was from the upper class after all. How could he possibly like an ordinary employee like her?

But thinking carefully about what had happened between her and William before, there were indeed some clues.

Isabella couldn't help asking herself.

Had she and William gotten too close during this time?

Seeing Isabella spacing out, Saskia reached out and poked her forehead.

"You, you haven't fully figured out matters of the heart yet! Anyway, trust me - your boss definitely likes you!"

Isabella didn't say anything, just unconsciously glanced at William in the distance, her heartbeat suddenly speeding up.

Did William really like her? Wasn't this a bit far-fetched?

After all, William didn't even like someone like Amelia, a socialite. How could he possibly like her?

For a moment, Isabella's thoughts were in chaos.

Saskia had already gotten Stanley's contact information and wanted to go back, so she went home with Saskia.

At midnight, Saskia, beside Isabella, was already fast asleep, but she stared at the ceiling without feeling sleepy at all.

The lovemaking between her and William that night kept circling in her mind.

Isabella couldn't help feeling a headache coming on.

Forget it, better not to think so much about it.

Whether William liked her or not, at the end of the day, they weren't the same kind of people.

She should just do her job well, focus on making money, and then, when Nora woke up, take Nora traveling.

As for other things, she'd put them aside for now.

The next day, Isabella went to work as usual. Just as she entered the office, she didn't see William, but instead saw Amelia.

Amelia stood with her arms crossed, leaning against the sofa, her eyes cold as they stared over.

"Some people really have skills. Just an ordinary employee, but by seducing her boss, she became his secretary. Not everyone can learn this kind of seduction technique!"

Amelia's voice was sharp and piercing, extremely unpleasant.

Isabella's heart jumped, but she pretended not to hear and walked to her desk to organize files.

She thought that if she just ignored her, Amelia would give up, but unexpectedly, Amelia suddenly walked behind her and grabbed her hair.

Isabella's scalp hurt so much she couldn't help gasping.

"Ms. Martinez, please let go."

Isabella tried hard to control her temper. Even though she was angry inside, she still kept her voice calm.

But Amelia tightened her grip, jealousy and hatred flashing in her eyes.

"Let go? Do you deserve that? You stole my fiancé and made him hate me. How dare you say that?"

Isabella trembled all over from the pain. Finally unable to hold back, she grabbed Amelia's wrist and pushed her hard.

Amelia screamed, stumbled, and fell to the ground.

At that moment, William walked in. Amelia immediately stood up and rushed toward him.

"William, you saw it too! This is the secretary you chose - she dared to hit me! How can someone like this deserve to stay by your side!"

Isabella looked helplessly at William. Her scalp hurt badly, and her heart was anxious.

"Mr. Brown, it's not what..."

"Well done."

Before Isabella could finish, William spoke calmly, while subtly distancing himself from Amelia.

Both Isabella and Amelia froze.

Isabella looked at William in disbelief.

Had William just praised her? Amelia was the daughter of the Martinez family after all. Wasn't William afraid of being targeted by the Martinez family by not giving her any face?

Amelia gritted her teeth and clenched her fists, her eyes full of resentment.

"William, we grew up together. Even if you don't love me, we have a bond. How can you side with an outsider?"

William glanced at Amelia with a cold expression.

"We never had any bond. I'm friends with your brother, but that doesn't mean I'm friends with you. Also, I've already made it clear to Mr. Martinez that our engagement is off. Please don't come here to disturb my work and bully my secretary anymore."

Amelia opened her mouth, seeming to want to say something more, but in the end, all her anger swallowed all her words.

She could only leave angrily.

Before leaving, she glared at Isabella.

This bitch!

Sooner or later, she would get back all the humiliation she'd suffered!

Isabella was startled by Amelia's look. Only after Amelia left did she finally breathe a sigh of relief.

"Mr. Brown, thank you so much for believing me."

William pointed to the surveillance camera in the corner.

"After the confidential documents were stolen last time, surveillance was installed in the office. I have eyes - naturally, I can see."

Isabella paused, then couldn't help laughing.

"Mr. Brown, you're really funny."

William walked toward her and pulled out a box from his pocket, tossing it to her.

"A friend gave this to me, but I don't like it. I'm giving it to you."

Isabella opened the box. Inside lay a ruby bracelet.

Isabella immediately felt overwhelmed.

"Mr. Brown, this is too expensive! You should take it back and give it to someone else!"

But William's face darkened.

"You can accept the pastries Joseph gave you, but you won't accept the bracelet I'm giving you? Do you really dislike me that much?"
