Chapter 70- Overcoming

Chapter 70- Overcoming

Even though she had defeated the ghost of that man, Sera could still feel the traces of his abuse in her bones. And even if she no longer felt fear of him, the scars would be marked on her soul.

Lincoln’s abuses were the beginning of everything, the beginning of discord and war between the Cohens and the Ramesses. She looked at the one who had been affected before her.

Damia Ramesses looked calm, as if that situation did not affect her. So, as Karim had described it. Her gaze focused ahead. And Sera admired her reaction to relive that monstrous moment.

Lincoln was younger there but his manners were no different than when he was older. He chased Damia like an insistent dog. Surrounding her from all sides, begging for her to be his omega. The woman’s look was the same as that of Sera when he saw the scene, disgust.

Sera’s stomach turned to see an alpha approaching an omega in this way, with false words, promises and limitless arrogance. She remembered when he held her on the table, touching her without permission in that invasive and lascivious way.

"You are just an omega, Sera. Not good enough for me but it serves to use you for being my offspring. You owe me for being a damaged offspring hear? Learn to obey an alpha and be thankful that someone wants a dirty creature like you, got it?"

The image changed to the day when that monster abused Damia. Seeing the scene, Sera could feel all the pain, all the hatred, all the shame.

Without thinking, she walked to that man, that monster who could benefit from women by being male and alpha. Her eyes turned yellow and her teeth show it. Sera was angry and her wolf too.

She remembered the day she killed him, the relief, pleasure and freedom she felt in not being a slave anymore. Fire was Sera’s friend that day, the weapon that killed that bastard.

And from his memory, the fire materialized in that environment. Sera had never felt so much hatred as to see that scene. Watch as Lincoln not only acted with her but with others, it made her possessed. Her pupils were dilated and his hands trembled with anger.

The whole environment had been taken by the fire but, that cretin was not affected. Even with an attack, he did not stop the horrible act he was committing.

" Sera. Sera." Damia called her, crossing the fire without being burned and touching the shoulders of the younger one. "Sera. It’s just a memory. Just a memory. There is nothing that can end it." She said looking at the man who left it dirty, leaving as if nothing had happened.

"We’re strong now, Sera. He may have beaten me. But he didn’t beat you. You’re still alive, Sera." Damia smiled at her and squeezed her shoulders. " You’ve been through more pain than I have and survived it. You’re a survivor, Sera. And he is gone, surely suffering, writhing in some dark place without love."

Damia turned away from Sera and looked to the horizon. Now only the forest could be seen. There was no trace of Lincoln Cohen’s image.

" We have to forgive ourselves and move on with the scars he left. You were victorious, Sera. I was not."

At each step, the sound of dried leaves being trampled could be heard. Until the plants gave way to water and a river could be seen. A river of blood and a dead woman with her neck cut. Damia.

Sera ran to her but there was nothing to do. It was just a memory. Something that had already happened.

Tears ran down Sera’s face. She was a sweet and gentle soul, who survived those heinous acts without rebelling against the world or the Mother. For sure, this omega was the right choice for the mission of uniting the Cohen and the Ramesses again.

"That body is gone, Sera. Don’t care for it." said Damia, stooping down and wiping the other woman’s tears.

"Unfortunately my pain made me forget something important. Something my family forgot over the years, until finally you and Karim came together as one."

"And what was it?" asked Sera with his cheeks still wet because of her tears.

Damia stood up and reached out to the young woman, helping her stand. She began to walk through that dense green forest, leaving the image of her dead body behind. It was something unimportant at the time, something that would decompose over time.

Sera followed her, curious. Looking once more at the image of her dead, with regret.

"When I connected with Mother for the first time." Damia told Sera. "I looked for records of my family, our past, our ancestors, our roots. And I have discovered something that today could be an ultrage for our families. However, it is a hope and answer to their mission."

Sera continued to follow and the dense forest became a clearing. Damia was sitting on a stump of wood, reading several papers already worn and yellowed.

Damia took Sera behind her old image and showed him what she had written on those papers. Ancient lines, lines before the first conflict. Scriptures which proved that Ramesses and Cohen had already joined before, not just one but more than 100 times.

"Our blood has already been joined, Sera. Our families have already connected several times. It’s not one or the other clan that is bad. It is the people who have soiled each family’s name and image. If we are united again, it can happen again. And you and Karim are proof of that." Damia said smiling." You needed to know that, Sera. To pass on the truth to your children."

Sera looked at Damia with tears in her eyes. She was really a crying baby, she thought, laughing at herself.

" I promise. I promise." She swore with several nods in her head." My children will know the truth."

And with the promise, spheres of light appeared before them. Sera’s mission was accomplished and finally her and Karim’s lineage was saved from the hatred and rancor of years.

" Goodbye, Sera. And thank you." She heard Damia’s voice saying goodbye once more.

And when all the souls of the Ramesses were released, the pitch returned to the place and Sera peecebeu the company of Twilight at his side.

A golden light took over everything and Sera felt the renewed energies. The tree opened for them and finally, Sera was back.
