Chapter 61 – Life.
Chapter 61 – Life.
"Do you consider yourself a good alpha and a good father?" The voice laughed at him. "You fell in battle and abandoned your family. Do you still think you can make Thomas happy? I, happy?" The voice of his omega spoke and his face came out of the shadows.
"Thomas has already forgiven me." Joshua said convinced, even if deep down, something inside him still feared that this was a lie.
"But what about you? Have you forgiven yourself?" "Thomas" laughed and his laugh echoed through the mind of the alpha.
Joshua woke up in a jittery, trembling, and panting breath. The pain in his straight arm and rib could be felt. He tried to get up, but a pinch restrained him, causing him to lie down again.
"Don’t try, you’re hurt." Lady Aurelius alerted her son and sat down on the bed next to him. " I’m so relieved you’re all right, we thought we’d lose you." She said hugging him, tears forming in her eyes.
"And Elisa and Thomas?" he asked, worried. "Did they manage to escape?"
Amaia confirmed, with a nod and a smile. "Thom is very worried about you, Josh."
The alpha already imagined, after all the last scene that his omega saw was certainly distressing. He took the cell phone, which by luck, was well hidden and intact, and made the call.
Thomas answered him, looking tired. He rubbed his eyes and gave a long yawn. His face was swollen, surely from the crying. But he smiled to see Joshua well.
"How are you? I thought I was going to lose you." Thomas signaled and Joshua realized he was restraining himself from crying.
"I’m fine, darling." Joshua smiled and tried to restrain the urge to comfort his husband with a hug. The Goddess knew how he would like to be there now. "I hurt a little but, I will survive. You know I’d never leave you like that, don’t you?"
Thomas smiled and agreed with a nod, the relief could be seen on his face. "Don’t try hard, all right? I know how stubborn you can be. Rest."
Joshua confirmed, "Can you leave. How are things there?" he asked, worried about his daughter.
"Elisa is fine, she’s sleeping" Thom signaled with a smile.
"What about Ramesses? Nothing yet?"
Thom, now denied, with a sad expression. "We have no return from him or Sera. Not yet."
"The only thing we can do to wait." Joshua replied and upon noticing that Thom was sleepy.
"Good night, love. Give a kiss to Elisa for me."
He said calmly, noticing the goodbye of the husband.
"I love you." Thomas replied by sending a kiss. "Come over here soon."
"I love you too. I’ll go as soon as I can walk." He said before hanging up.

As he hung up, Joshua closed his eyes and tried to remember the battle. It was hard at first, but his memory slowly came back. The fight was brutal, thanks to Mother that Thomas and Elisa escaped unscathed.
He held out much longer after the attack. Even wounded, Joshua was of the soldiers' clan after all, and was not defeated so easily. The pain was distressing, but he still had strength to continue. Thomas and Elisa were his strength.
The enemies continued to arrive but, allies also came to help them. The Abiyoe were the first, bringing their warlike force and the rest of the Ramesses also helped.
Yelena sent a new weapon made with Jae Hyun’s blood, and that was what decided the battle. Now they had a new weapon and that could decide this war.
In the end, they won but that did not prevent losses. Joshua was almost one of them, between life and death.
He sat down on the bed and gave a long sigh, hated standing still without being able to do anything. "
"Hey, you got it, brother-in-law?" The alpha heard a laugh he knew well.
Nayssa was in front of him, accompanied by Kyria. The alpha had a bruise on one of her legs. So at that moment she was limping.
"Hey. How are things? Update me, please." he asked, having a cup of tea, and offering them.
"Will is still missing. Well, we know she’s doing something for Mother but not where or what. I believe it is in relation to the tree of ancestors." Kyria replied, sitting on the chair next to her. " That will certainly help us further forward."
"Yelena is also helping us. But there is something that as someone in the army, bothers me a lot." Joshua replied. "We don’t know our enemy."
Joshua tried to get up and to his unhappiness, the pain returned. "Drug." He cursed, angry. " You will have to look for me, ask my father or my mother to help you." He gave a long sigh, I had to trust them.

Cassius Aurelius guided the women to his family’s large library. "We have something about ancestral wolves, perhaps it will help. My ancestors have always had the curiosity to study all kinds of creatures that would become an enemy." He said walking through the vast site.
The leader of the clan, walked to the last shelf and picked up a big black and gold book. On the cover was a huge dragon, written, legendary creatures, extinct and extant. Cassius handed it to the girls and said:" Good luck. Now the work is with the young." He laughed.
Nayssa and Kyria looked at each other and smiled, they sat down on the large wooden table and sat down in the padded chairs.
The book was really huge, with a thickness of 20cm. Nayssa began to flip through the pages. There were several creatures in that world besides wolves. And the similarity between them was the hatred for the werewolves who took their mother away from them.
It was hard not to be distracted by so much interesting content, but finally, almost at the end, they got what they were looking for.
Huge wolves formed by shadows stamped the page of the book. Kyria yawned and watched as she looked at the picture. The creatures were fierce, but they had a wise look, an ancient look.
Kyria stepped away for a moment, that look gave her a shiver in the spine for some reason.
"The first wolves were not divided into alphas or omegas, nor could they take human form." Nayssa began to read and Kyria leaned her head on her shoulder to see better.
"They hated the species that came after them and envied them. The attention that Mother gave to the new children, angered them and they went on to hate her. After the werewolves' betrayal of the Mother Goddess, the ancestral wolves had a mixture of hatred and happiness for having been "avenged". But the hatred for werewolves continued. Making the ancestral wolves the most dangerous to them."
Nayssa looked at Kyria, worried.
" There are few who rival such beings. The elemental eagles are one of them, but they are elusive creatures that remain hidden in the lands of the north. A thousand years ago a werewolf found one of them."
Nayssa closed the book and smiled at Kyria with determination." At least we have a clue now. Any help will be welcome. I think it’s worth trying."
