Chapter 59 - Dream of a loss.
Chapter 59 - Dream of a loss.
The aroma and freshness of the forest took over the environment. The house with white walls and glass windows was the only residence in the middle of that green immensity.
Kallias entered the house and felt the scent of flowers flood his nostrils. With a smile, he climbed up the stairs where his son was. The white wooden crib kept a baby cute in blue clothes, who slept peacefully, with his blonde hair touched by the sun.
Kallias touched his son’s head and smiled, stroking his fine hair. When he backed away, the baby opened his eyes and with a childish laugh held his father’s finger.
Kallias laughed at the act of your little one and took him in his lap. "At least, you let your father rest." He said, looking at Jae Hyun, who was sleeping in an armchair, completely exhausted and approaching, giving a kiss on his tired lips.
The demigod went outside with his little Kian, who watched everything with attention and a childish curiosity. Kallias felt at peace with his son next to him and in that quiet place.
The wind hit his hair and he watched the leaves of the trees go in his direction. Mother’s energy was present at that place. But without understanding the reason, something seemed different in that place.
He fixed his gaze for a brief moment on one of the trees. And its green disappeared for brief seconds, turning into something taken by pitch and darkness. Kallias got up, confused, but everything went back to normal soon after.
"You are here." Gentle steps approached him and the sweet voice of your husband had become present. Kallias felt Jae Hyun’s embrace behind him. His warmth was contagious and warm. The alpha looked again at the tree and there really was nothing there.
" Yes, I am. I decided to give you a break. But our little one doesn’t give any work." He said, playing with his son, that at that moment he decided to grab his hair.
Jae Hyun approached and kissed him, somehow, the feeling that Kallias felt was of joy. Obviously, he would feel this to be happy and have a perfect family. But something inside of you told him that this event was something distant from centuries ago.
"Come on. Help me prepare dinner." Jae Hyun smiled and pulled his hand.
Kallias helped prepare dinner, while Kian is distracted by a toy shaped like a wolf. His laughter filled the atmosphere while his parents stirred the pots.
When dinner was ready, silence reigned. They ate in silence when Kallias seemed to hear something, it was a kind of cry far away. He looked everywhere, looking for the origin of the sound.
"What’s up?" Jae Hyun shook her husband’s hand and showed a worried look. "Are you okay?"
"It’s nothing." Kallias shook his hand, to keep him from worrying.
At that moment, a scream can be heard again. Kallias looked for the sound but it was still unknown. He stood up, but was stopped by his husband. Jae Hyun held his arm and said in a firm voice, in a sign of order: "You will not go."
Kallias looked at him, confused. Jae Hyun had never treated him like this, and vice versa. The demigod narrowed his eyes, something was wrong. He looked deeply at his husband and saw a shadow of empty eyes in his place. The same happened to little Kian.
Kallias walked away, growling at the shadow. That was an illusion. Really, what was he thinking? That life really did not exist, Kian was a grown man now. And because of him, his son had no present as a father.
Kallias turned into a black wolf and roared. The whole false fantasy scenario was undone. The house fell, as if a strong wind had destroyed it. The trees lost their leaves and their branches dried up like dead things.
The voice at that moment became more present. A high-pitched and agonizing cry for help, with the name of Kallias in the background.
It was his voice, your husband’s. Jae Hyun’s voice. Kallias ran in his lupine form towards his omega. But the false beings wanted to stop him.
They turned into twigs-like beings, and only with the eye-hole. Their thin fingers held Kallias with unimaginable force.
The wolf growled at them, his eyes shining yellow and his sharp teeth showing. He moved, knocking down those above him. Kallias bit them and threw them away. He trampled on the enemies, turning them into a black dust carried by the wind.
The voice kept getting louder and more distressed. Kallias ran to her, but the creatures were again frightening him. The more he pushed them away, the more they clung to him and laughed with shrill laughter.
The voice still screamed in his mind and he tried to reach it. However, the beings pulled him down and, as if he was in a trapdoor, Kallias fell.
His wolf growled as he fell on the soft ground covered with earth and he turned human again. What was that place? Where was he?
Kallias stood up, the place was the same forest he had seen before. Dark, cold, dull and lifeless.
He walked around the place, trying to remember the last thing that happened before he appeared there and at the same time looking for the voice, which unfortunately had disappeared.
Kallias' feet made a noise when they stepped on dry leaves. He trembled, tense and tired. Jae Hyun needed it and even then there was no idea where it was.
Kallias tried to reconnect with his memories. He remembered to ask forgiveness from Jae Hyun and shadows take his sacred place. Something tried to control him and Akiner’s voice became present in his mind. Kallias was his own enemy. Perhaps he was in his own subconscious. But how was your husband there?
The questions tormented his mind, how had Akiner achieved such a feat? The ancestral wolf was not strong enough against him. But he was a mayor in manipulating and channeling the energy of people. Surely, he had done such a thing with Kallias.
Since when? The alpha asked. How long has this been going on? Perhaps, since ever, when they first shook hands or when Kallias had already succumbed to his madness.
He did not know how to answer.
But something changed at that moment. The voice returned to fill his ears and Kallias turned and ran looking for the voice.
He does not know how long he ran, the vastness of that forest confused him and seemed something infinite, without exit. But the voice became louder and closer.
Kallias finally reached the site and saw a dark, dry tree. Hanging on it was Jae Hyun, unconscious and hurt. His lips bled and there were wounds all over his body.
"Kallias, Kallias." Jae Hyun writhed. He cried with swollen eyes and a pained expression. The omega seemed exhausted, as if that cursed tree was sucking its energy. "Help me, baby. Help me." Jae Hyun begged in the midst of screams of despair.
Kallias tried to approach, with a squeeze on his chest, to see his beloved in that state. However, ancestral wolves placed themselves in his way. Kallias roared, he would kill them as he had done in times past with the sword.
The enemies were against him. There were many who, for him, were no match to beat him. But still, yes, they were a nuisance. He fought against them, amid the cries of his omega.
"Jae Hyun, I’m coming, baby. I’m coming to get you." Kallias tried to calm his beloved with sweet words in the middle of the battle.
Kallias finally won, they really managed to leave him exhausted. But now he could rescue Jae Hyun.
When Kallias came to the ground with Jae in his lap, he saw Akiner in front of him, growling at him with hatred.
"Stay here. Soon your wounds will heal and we’ll get out of here." He smiled at the omega and prepared for his last enemy.
Akiner was strong and fast, but he could not compare to Kallias. With quick detours, the ancestral wolf could not hit him. Until finally I can hit it.
Kallias smiled at that moment, he and Jae Hyun would finally be free. However, something unusual happened. Jae Hyun took the place of Akiner and was pierced by the alpha blade.
"No. No!" Kallias screamed in despair. At that moment, the Jae Hyun he put on the ground had disappeared and only what was in his arms now.
Jae Hyun was bleeding in his lap, his eyes lifeless or glare. His heart was not beating and there was no sign of his breath.
Kallias cried when he saw his beloved dead and realized that it was himself who had done it. The pain and guilt consumed his body and his cry destroyed everything there, with a hurricane that hit not only him.
Now he was in a deserted place, only with black dust around him. The only thing that survived his pain was the tree. But even it bled and languished further.
Kallias' pain had changed everything. His tears kept falling over the body of his omega and even if the ancient wolves thought it was a good move. Perhaps the game had turned against them.
