Chapter 57 - Corruption
Chapter 57 - Corruption
Karim woke up with the sun on his face, he was tied to a log and there were more slaves around him.
He closed his eyes, getting used to the bright light. His body burned and itched from the heat. He would like to get out of there. Karim tried to break free from the chains. But no result.
"No use." A tired voice said next to him. "The only way out is with their will or being taken underground.
Karim tried to look at his companion next, the only thing he could see was blonde hair.
" And how am I taken there?" Karim asked, thinking of a plan in his mind.
"You have to really piss them off. But, you’re not thinking about it, are you?"
Karim gave a sarcastic smile. "It’s obvious that I do. I know how to be annoying when I want to."
The alpha observed the environment for a few seconds and tried to understand how that place worked. Slaves were pulled everywhere. The chains on their necks seemed to suck the energy of the alfas, who looked extremely tired.
Other slaves carried spheres of light, which Karim had no idea of their usefulness. However, in his eyes it seemed like pieces to build something.
Some of the humans fell, and the great wolves kicked them and pulled them by their chains, forcing them to continue. Karim observed it, extremely angry. And in a fully calculated act he shouted:
"Hey, you idiots. They don’t know how to divide the weight according to someone’s size. By the looks of it, you’re not smart enough to have slaves." He gave a sarcastic laugh, looking at the executioners from above. Even being tied up, Karim still could bring a certain feeling of being someone above.
One of the wolves approached, with an angry expression. And pulled Karim by the chain on his neck. Karim looked at him with a sarcastic smile as he did in the old days.
"What was big? A ugly like you are not used to see someone so beautiful?"
The angry wolf punched Karim in the stomach, blood ran out of his mouth and he groaned with pain but he continued to smile.
Even if it was with pain, Karim liked to have control over something. He smiled as he saw the wolf getting more and more angry and that’s what the alpha wanted.
"Shut up, you filthy slave. I’ll take you to work if you’re so sorry for others."
Karim, was released from the trunk. Relief took his muscles even for a second. He was dragged across the ground, barefoot, feeling the pain as he walked. His neck was already marked by the chains and his hands had almost no movement. However, it was the only way he could figure out how to escape.
A sphere was placed in his hands, it was warm and heavy. However, its appearance was of a translucent vidro with an intense light from it. He felt an energy similar to that of the Mother there. Something interesting was happening.
"Come, brat, get in the line." The wolf kicked Karim until he went in after one of the slaves. And so the work began. It seemed that Karim was carrying an ox, the sphere was really heavy but he was too strong enough.
However, something he imagined began to happen. His energy began to be sucked and go towards the sphere. The chain on his neck, seemed to resonate with the round object but, from what he noticed, it did not have the same effect as in the other slaves.
That made Karim give a sneer smile. He had an ace, he would be the worst nightmare of these old and stupid wolves.
"What are you laughing at, brat?" One of the red-fanged wolves attacked Karim with violence. Holding him by his neck chain.
"From your stupid face, what else would I be laughing at?" Karim mocked with a sarcastic smile.
The wolf got angry and pulled him out of line. He threw Karim on the floor and stepped on his stomach. Blood escaped from the alpha’s mouth once more. The great wolf hit the human’s head on the ground until he became deaf.
But to the displeasure of the ancestors, Karim’s wounds began to heal and he stood up, staggeringly but smiling.
The wolf looked at him, revolted. Approaching Karim, the creature prepared to attack him again but Akiner stopped him.
"No use, Eyan. The brat will continue to heal himself. Take him underground. This sarcasm won’t help him there." Said approaching the face of Karim, showing his big teeth and foul breath.
Karim twisted his nose and it helped him not to smile. That way, his plans would not be discovered.
He was dragged to a place deeper in the forest. They passed by the slaves who took the spheres to a kind of underground. The wolves took Karim there, the place was natural but had been modeled with structures of metals and magic.
A gray-haired man with blue eyes and brown skin supervised the work. The slaves carried the spheres towards a kind of tree made with magic.
The tree emitted an evil aura, the spheres were placed inside it and each one, this aura increased. Something sinister was happening there and Karim did not like it at all.
On the other side, there were golden roots that emanated the power of the Goddess. It was not possible, they were well below the sacred tree of the ancestors. From above, golden leaves fell and these leaves were transformed into spheres within a forge. The light that Karim had seen and felt came from them.
Karim did not believe what his eyes saw. How could this go unnoticed by the Mother? But, the answer was soon in his mind. The reason these alphas were there, was not only to be slaves and yes, serve as a barrier so that the Mother did not know what was happening. After all, she could not get close to them.
Ramesses had to agree that it was an ingenious plan. And that he could not do anything about it. With no idea in mind, Karim was taken to the corrupted tree and tied there. This was the first time he really screamed in pain, without a smile on his face.
His body wanted to kneel against the ground. But there was no way, with arms and legs stuck. The pain was unbearable, Karim felt his energy being sucked along with all positive emotions.
"You won’t be able to heal here, boy. You lost." Akiner mocked him and yelled at the others : "Keep working." Leader retreating.
Karim would like to think of a plan. Probably restoring faith in Mother would be the best way. But it would be difficult. Hope had been lost by all there.
Karim himself seemed to lose hope sometimes. He didn’t know how long he was there. There was no sun or moon, only artificial light. There was no way to know if it was night or day.
He was already exhausted by this time. Screams did not come out of his throat, he had no more strength for it. But at every moment of weakness, Sera’s face came to his mind and he smiled, remembering his wife and the reason that he had to win this challenge.
The screams and cries around him were loud. How could he convince those people that there was something good? That there was a chance. At all times, these thoughts came to his mind.
He closed his eyes and to his surprise, the Mother appeared to him with her blue skin. It was a light that made him happy.
"You’re being strong, my child. I’m proud of you." She smiled caressing his face. "You’re not alone, Karim. I, Sera, Damia and all your ancestors are with you. You carry the power of all these connections."
Karim smiled at her. There was no better comfort than hearing it from the Goddess’s own mouth.
"I trust you to bring faith to my children again. Unfortunately, there are rules to follow and I can only act through you. But I’m sure we will. Watch and plan carefully, use your trump at the right time." she said with a smile." I’ll have to go now but, I’ll be with you the moment you need it. "
Karim opened his eyes and the pain had eased. He took a deep breath, and thought of Sera again.
" I promise I’ll come back to you, baby. I promise. I love you." He threw his words to the wind, hoping that there would be some way his wife could hear.
"Hey, newbie, thinking about your wife will not help you at this moment. After all, I know well human emotions. Especially anger. And I’m sure that this one will take your heart at that moment." Akiner laughed at him.
Someone was being dragged to his side. Karim was removed from the tree and thrown to the ground. A wolf stepped on his back and raised his head so he could look up.
And he saw Otto Ramesses, right there in front of him. And for the first time, Karim agreed with Akiner, he was possessed by anger.
