CHAPTER 75 A New Beginning
Fire
The High Elder yelled for both vampires and wolves to stop their attacks, but none of them listened. Drew swung his sword at any and every vampire that came near us which in turn caused a ripple effect. Any vampire near the newly slain bloodsucker would also turn to ash. Unfortunately, that wasn't a good enough reason for the vampires to stop their attack. I had a feeling the Viscount was pushing the vampires to attack us.
The sky above grew darker and the lightning began targeting the ground. We were in the center of the meadow completely helpless against the streaks of lightning.
"Fire, you have to stop with the lightning!" My aunt cried as she grabbed the wolf who was about to attack the Duke and threw him into the forest. "We'll all be toast if you don't stop!"
"That isn't me! I can't do elemental magic," I said. I rushed towards Kai Long, picked him off the ground and handed him to my aunt. "Use him as a shield."
"Wait! You can't do that!" Kai Long exclaimed, struggling againt my aunt's hold on him.
"Oh yes, we can. You started this, so you should die first!" I screamed at him.
His eyes darkened and his snout elongated. He threw his head back and howled like he did a while ago, as part human and part wolf.
I thought the wolves would stop attacking us, but I was wrong. The wolves had instead focused all their attention at Kai Long and the vampire who was holding him...my aunt. They snarled and growled, all of them slowly walking towards my aunt, ready to pounce.
"Let that traitor go!" Drew yelled at my aunt, grabbing his uncle by his arm. "Mark my words, Uncle. I will find you and kill you." Kai Long laughed at him.
"You are NOT a Long, Nephew and you will NEVER be a Long," Kai Long spat back at Drew. He, then, unexpectedly focused his beady eyes at me. "As for you, Enchantress, I will never forget." He raised his upper lip to show me his protruding fangs.
"I'll be waiting for you, Kai Long. Make sure when you show yourself to me, you are ready to die by Drew's hands," I sneered at him.
Without another word, he began his trek across the meadow towards the forest, his wrists and ankles still in chains.
Drew lowered his sword and tilted his head back to howl at the wolves. They were given a choice... to leave with Kai Long and live as rogues or stay with their families and serve him, their Alpha. A handful of wolves followed Kai into the forest while the rest stayed.
The thunder rumbled again and lightning flashed. The wind blew stronger. If it weren't for the backpack, I would've blown away.
"Eldest, you better command your progeny to stop or I'm going to turn all of them into dust, including you," Drew yelled, raising his sword once again.
Both the Eldest and the Duke raised their fists in the air. I walked up to Drew and held on to him. I could feel the air swirling like a tornado.
"Grab hold of something. It feels like it's a twister!" Drew yelled, sticking the Flaming Sword into the ground and holding on for dear life.
"Fire, we have the power to block this magic," Nirvana said.
Of course. Gosh, I'm such an idiot. I closed my eyes, chanting the words of the spell in my head.
I opened my eyes and a blue light soared into the sky hitting the dark clouds above us, creating a hole in between the clouds which allowed the sunlight to pass through. Gradually, the wind stopped and the dark clouds disappeared.
"I forgot I could do that. Thank you," I said to Nirvana, grateful that she took the initiative to help me stop the bad weather.
"You have much to learn," Nirvana said. "Anyway, you will have enough time to hone your skills. This is not the end, but a new beginning."
"What do you mean 'new beginning'? I asked, confused.
"There are many enemies which lurk in the dark, Fire," Nirvana said. "One day, your path will cross with the golden-eyed wolf and both of you will stand side by side each other to wage war against those who want to destroy this world. But for now, let peace reign."
I heaved a sigh of relief and let go of Drew. Whoever created the storm was very strong. But who?
"It is time to anoint the new leader of the vampires. Long may she reign," Nirvana said.
I walked towards my aunt and placed my hands on her shoulder. Blue light erupted from my hands. The light spread all over my aunt's body until it reached her eyes, making her eyes glow a brighter red, just like the eyes of the dead Vampire King. I saw all her memories, including the so-called Black Mage.
"Tabitha Acheron, Queen of the Vampires," the High Elder announced, smiling. "Long may you reign."
The nobility and the remaining surviving vampires knelt on one knee and bowed to their new queen.
"We will no longer wage war against each other. I pledge to the Wolf Enchantress, making it my solemn vow, to work with the wolves. Together, we can live in peace," my aunt said.
"Vampires, I need you to look for the former gamma of Alpha Turner. He is a black mage. Long have I kept his secret and now I can finally have him imprisoned," my aunt said, then faced Luke and Mason. "I need you to swear your allegiance to Fire or I will have you imprisoned as well."
Luke and Mason collapsed on their knees and bowed.
"I didn't know my father is a black mage. I swear it, Alpha Fire," Mason said.
"Nor did I," Luke said. "He would go off in the middle of the night sometimes, but I thought it was because of a mission."
"Luke... Mason... it's fine. I didn't know either," I said, gesturing for them to stand up. "Luke, as my Beta, I need you to become Alpha of our pack. Take Mason as your Beta. But, if your father shows himself, I need you to tell me."
"I will, Alpha Fire," Luke said. "I promise."
"I'm now Luna Fire, Alpha Luke," I said, bowing. "You and I will have a meeting before you head home to the UK. Our pack members no longer have to hide. They can move to the territory near London." Luke bowed one last time and gave Mason a brotherly hug. They were now in charge of our pack.
I smiled as I saw the brothers pat each other on the back. I will make sure my pack will have a chance to have a fruitful life.
I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned around to find the Duke in front of me.
"So this makes me your uncle," Duke Stefan said, kneeling down. "I deserve any punishment from you for killing your parents."
I rolled my eyes at him. "You'll have to do a lot more than just apologize. You have to swear your allegiance to me and promise me you'll be willing to wait before I give you the punishment you say you rightfully deserve.
"I swear," he said. "But why do I have to wait?
"Because your punishment isn't alive yet," I answered.
He stood up with a confused expression on his face. He shrugged his shoulders. "I don't care what it is. At least now we are friends."
"I agree," the Eldest said. "I feel much better now we are all friends."
"I don't," screamed Grandma Ling. "I need to see a doctor now!"
"I'll take her back to the territory," the Duke said. "I'm faster." He lifted the elderly woman in his arms and dashed towards the territory in a blur of light.
"So where will you be staying, Aunt Tabby?" I asked.
"For now, at the East Coven Stronghold. I'll have my own castle built near here. How about you and Drew?"
"We'll be staying here for now," Drew answered. "I need to teach these wolves about loyalty to their Alpha."
"Let's all celebrate," the High Elder said. "Today marks a new beginning for all of us."
