Cora
I looked at Jax’s motorcycle. There was no way I was going to be able to drive or ride it with my leg the way it was. I had already had the worst time walking to it. But I refused to limp away from the werewolves I had addressed. I wanted to ooze power and strength. Show them that Tanner was nothing compared to what I was. I knew threatening children was a bit dramatic, but they never listened when Jax defended me or when anyone else did. It was time to show them just how fortunate they had been that I stepped in.
John was next to me. “Cora you cannot ride his motorcycle.” I knew that. “John my leg is shattered, honestly, I don’t know how I am standing, but we can’t leave the bike here. No doubt t someone will trash it. “Can you drive with one leg?” He asked “Depends is your truck stick or automatic. My right leg is not broken but my left. If it is automatic I could probably get home.”
The pain was intense, but when I got home, I knew I would be able to mend it. I just had to get home. I decided to drive John’s truck, and he took Jax’s motorcycle. I was drained and sore when we got home. Jeanie came up to me as soon as I got out of the truck. “You are hurt.” I nodded. “Here” She offered me her shoulder. And I leaned on the old women's frame. She helped me to the house. “Take me to Jax I can tell you what to get, it is a broken bone. I can heal it.” She did is as I asked. Jax was still in the ice, but he was wide eyed as I came and lowered myself onto the ground.
“What happened? Where is John?” I looked at Jeanie first. “Run a diagnostics spell. I can walk you through it if you need me to.” I needed to tell her what to get to help with my healing. “I know how to a diagnostics spell.” I nodded and she began. “You were right a broken leg, some bad bruising and...” She paused. “What?” I asked. “Cora you are pregnant.” Great, it had to do with the intense fuck fest thanks to the titan Kronos. I didn’t tell her anything besides what to get from my workroom to heal myself which she left to retrieve. “Guess we are having another kid.” I looked at Jax, who looked like he couldn’t make up his mind on whether to be happy or concerned.
“I am fine, it is just a break and bruising. Tanner lost and now we get whatever land we want.” He still didn’t say anything. No doubt concerned about my leg and baby. “Oh, and since you are probably curious. I did a great job addressing the werewolves. I except at least some of them to reach out to John about coming here. I will be busy.” I spoke. Jax nodded. Things would be moving fast now, and we both knew it. “If they don’t, they are stupid. I showed them just how stupid.”
“What did you do Cora?” He asked leaning forward. I explained how I proved they could not protect themselves by hurling stones at their children only to drop them in front of the children's faces. How I called out that Tanner lost even though he cheated. “Cora, threatening them will not make them want to join us.” I shrugged. I did the best I could. Jeanie came back in, and I talked her through what to do.
I felt better after that and was tired. I remembered this kind of fatigue with Max. It was consuming and I was starting to feel it creeping up on me. “You should sleep. When you wake up, we can talk about what we want to do about the future of this place and the baby.” It was weird thinking about having another kid. If they were like Max, we would certainly have our hands full beyond belief not to mention building a new pack and city. But it was now even more apparent we needed a place like the one we were building. I gave Jax a kiss before I left him to go grab some food and then a nap. Max, I knew was content with Anne, I could sleep just for a little bit.
I fell right into sleep, but the titan Kronos was there to greet me. “Darling Cora” The skull face greeted me. “You are pregnant again. How marvelous. I like to think it had a little to do with me” He paused his sickening bone face smiling. “I am waiting for a thank you.” I didn't want to thank him. He had done something disgusting. I may not have had sex with him, but he got to feel how Jax felt, and it was to me the same thing. “I know you may not know it since you were in a different place last time you were pregnant. But right now, you are as powerful as you were when you had all that wolf blood in your system. Over these next nine months I think you should take out the gods. They still see you as a threat.”
“It is just Max, is at risk and this future bundle of joy is now too. You should protect them. You are a good mom, and you don’t want to have to worry about their safety.” I looked at the large black smoking body of the titan. The only thing I worried about was what he would do to my kids. Hecate had not so much looked in my direction lately. The last five years told me she was no threat. However, this titan seemed to be. He had come to me encouraged me to drink blood. Sure, he had done good but the bad outweighed the good.
I gave him a little grin. “Thank you, Kronos, for helping.” The titan straightened what I assumed was a spine I could not see. “Thank you for helping me understand the risks my children have. I think you may be right. I took your advice; I built a pack that is combined with witches and werewolves. I do worry about the gods like you have warned. I need sleep, but maybe you could tell me how to take them out. It would be a relief to be free from threats on my family.” Lies all lies. His smoky hand caressed my cheek, and I had to keep my breathing calm.
I would not let him know what was really going on in my head. I needed to remain calm. “I will let you sleep for now, but I will tell you how to do it. You are the strongest witch on the planet and history will make you immortal even if you don’t want to be.” He said it like it was some kind of accomplishment. I had no desire for power. The only thing I craved was my family and pack’s happiness. I would do what I had to ensure their happiness and safety and at the moment I knew the best way to ensure that was to get rid of this Titan and his corruption that touched the majority of witches on the planet.
