166. Guests Have Arrived

Jax

John and Anne looked at the house holding one another. I could tell they were close. Not romantically but it was apparent they were friends. Since the night John shared that Anne and he were only friends who were married and why I had not really thought to much about it. I wondered what that consisted of? “Do you guys want to see inside? Give me some ideas?” Cora said. The sun was hanging low in the sky so there really would not be a lot of time left to see it. There was no power in the house so no light. Both John and Anne nodded.

I opened the door, and we all walked in. My mouth dropped just like Anne’s and John’s. I had seen the home from the outside but inside was just as amazing. There had been no walls, and, in the back, I could see the floor opened to stairs but there was none upstairs. It was a completely blank home with high celling's. “Now I know it is just you two, but I made sure there was a lot of space. I can put in stairs, so you have two floors and a basement if you want. Really anything you guys want.” John through his arms around Cora. “Thankyou” he said, and Anne hugged her next. “Thankyou.” Cora looked at me smiling.

I looked up and saw she had raw beams across the top and the floor was stunning all wood and looked amazing. With the no walls it made the place seem enormous. John, Anne, and I turned around facing the front door. All of us heard the sound of a vehicle. “Guess the witches are here?” Anne said looking concerned. Cora had to have sensed her trepidation because she pulled her into a side hug and said, “No one will hurt you while I am here.” I was anxious to get to get back to our house.

Max was sleeping there and with John and Anne I never worried, but these were strangers. I knew Cora could protect all of us, but it was unnerving having strangers. Cora felt my emotions and let go of Anne to slide into my side and I through my arm around her as we all four walked out. I saw two motorcycles with saddle bags. Nice models too. The men took off their helmets. These must be the twins Cora told me about, she said they looked like hipsters. I would say so.

They both had moustaches that had was in them to curl them up and trimmed beards that were shaped, unlike mine that was mountain man the hipster. The hair on their heads was pulled back in neat buns they looked identical. “Cora?” On of them said. “Hey Grant.” Her head turned to the other “Garrett.” They both nodded and still with me holding her she approached. “This is my bonded, mate, and husband Alpha Jax Hemmings and that is our Beta John Jenkins and his wife Anne Jenkins.” They stuck their hands out to all three of us werewolves with Cora, they just gave her a nod.

I wondered what that was about. Cora felt awkward, I felt it over our bond. She always had this issue when meeting new people in person. Probably due to her mother isolationg her so much when she was a child. Once she warmed up, she was fine, but beginnings were hard for her. I stepped in to clear the awkward void. I needed us to get back to the house, Max was there and though we invited these people here I didn’t not want to be close to our son.

“We were just heading back to our house; we got cocktails and food once everyone arrives.” They looked at me questioningly. Here I was the big bad wolf, their natural enemy and I was inviting them into my den. Cora knew she had to say something to ease their fears. She knew they were as nervous as Anne was. “Glad you guys came.” Small words but effective they fell in line making sure they stayed behind John and Anne. They wouldn’t turn their backs. One of them spoke up. “Cora nice job on that shield.” She turned around. “How did you know?” the twins laughed. “We do the same when we camp, has a different smell than the rest of the earth. Old magic, strong, I didn’t think anyone even knew of it. We thought it was a family secret.” She snorted. “I know all.” I tried not to laugh at her comment.

I said, “Nice bikes, I ride to.” One of twins said. “We are new to it picked up the hobby like a year ago I think.” A hobby motorcycles were a lifestyle not a hobby. I kept myself in check and didn’t say a thing. Though Cora felt my annoyance over the bond and leaned into me a little more. Just as we got to the porch a van began to pull up, this young woman got out. She looked interesting she had long pink hair that was in two braids that went to her knees, and unlike the twins she was wearing something that looked like she should be in a garden. Instantly she ran up to Cora practically yanking her from me and squeezing her into a tight hug. “It is so good to meet you.” She looked at me and went to hug me, but Cora stepped between the two of us.

“No, Jax is mine.” Her eyes flashed big. “Oh, okay sorry no harm meant.” Cora leaned into me, and I tried not to laugh. She never liked it when women touched me. I kissed the top of her head as research, and she went and hugged everyone else. Anne asked. “Who are you?” The witch turned around and flashing a smile said “Lia” The young witch then turned back to the twins. “Nice to see you both again.” The nodded. Was the nodding a respect thing for them? “We are missing one more, she should be here soon.” Cora said. We all went in where Cora used magic and gave the witches some of her cocktails. The twins were apprehensive about it but Cora took their drinks and sipped them before giving them back.

Did they think she would poison them. Lia on the other hand had downed her. How old was she? She didn’t look old enough to drink, yet here she was. “Can I have another?” She asked and Cora nodded in which she used her magic to get herself another. Anne was looking intimidated. “Okay seriously smells freaking amazing in here.” Lia said. “Thanks” Grant and Garrett were examining everything. “I thought you said you had a son?” One of the twins said. Immediately my fist tightened. Cora placed a hand on my shoulder. “We do but he is sleeping Grant. He was tracking with his dad here and wore himself down, he should be up tomorrow.” How did she know it was Grant who said that.

“Cora when can I see you channel, I heard of it when I was little but never seen it?” Lia asked. “You saw the houses driving in yeah?” Lia nodded. “I did those with my channeling.” Lia looked surprised. “No shit?” Cora nodded. Okay Lia was a kid I knew it her mannerisms and the way she talked and her clothes she had to be a teenager or something. “You have a nice house; did you do this one too Cora?” Cora responded. “Some of its Garrett, though Jax and I bought the house so I just a few things.” There was a knock on the door. “I got it.” Cora said and went to open it. She came back in with an older lady.

The women had grey hair that had been braided into a crown on her head. She had deep laugh lines. You could just tell she was a kind lady, maybe it was her eyes. “Everyone this is Jeanie.” She waved. “Jeanie this is Jax, my bonded.” The women cut her off. “Oh honey I know he is your bonded, the way he is looking at you tells me everything.” Cora tried to hide her smile. “I am not going to give you a hug, Cora I know would just hate that. But I am very happy to meet you.” I gave her a smile. I looked to see Lia looking embarrassed. Then Cora introduced her to Anne and John. “Are we going to eat I am starving.” Jeanie said and Cora said “Yes, do you want a cocktail by the way?” “Yes, honey that would be great.” Cora nodded and everyone went to the table. Food started flooding the table all still warm and setting up nicely. “Okay Cora this table is awesome, I mean it looks like picture perfect.” Lia said. “Everyone dig in but save room for cake.”
