165. Magic in the Kitchen
Cora
I was up, working on the houses after yesterday I had a good system going. I was fast since I had gotten the hang of it yesterday. Jax came out this time keeping a safe distance. I looked at him and stared at him. “Far enough away from me?” I asked and he responded. “Well at least I'm not some crazy freak that can't keep my hands to myself.” I chuckled that was funny. “I never said I had a problem with you grabbing me touching me or I don't know even fucking me into the dirt” Jax was the one now smiling and chuckling.
“Anyways I just came out here to see how the houses were coming. I had tried to do that yesterday you know but you know how that went. They look really good something out of a magazine or one of those websites you're always looking at.” “Well thanks yeah, the books helped a lot. As well as those websites you referred to, I looked at a ton of pictures to know what I was kind of going for. Though I'm completely hopeless probably inside when it comes to plumbing electrical, I did do some reading on them, but I don't know if I should be the one doing that or if you want to hire someone or even have the other witches do it, I just don't know.”
“Well maybe we should just leave them blank inside until they have people living in them. That way they can design their own layout and then maybe you and the other witches could help them with that, or they could do themselves. I don't know what your plan was for that?” I had no plans when it came to the interior of those homes all I knew was the outside and roughly how big to make them. Jax told me that I needed to make sure the houses were about the size for a family of five. “You know all of them have basements?” Jax raised his eyebrows.
“Yeah, I not going to finish those, and neither is anyone else unless they specifically ask for help. That is their free space to do with what they want and quite frankly if it's what we like to have in our basement I don't want to see theirs.” Jax grinned. “I get your point. I am on my last one now.” I said and Jax looked at the empty space. “Is John and Anne on their way over?” I asked and he nodded as I began to construct the last of the 45 houses I planned to build. Jax didn’t say anything as I built, I knew he was just watching seeing how I did it. I loved that he was amazed by magic. It took some time, but it finally was done. I smiled at the homes I had put a good distance between all of them. I didn’t think anyone would want to be right up on each other.
“I can’t believe you can do stuff like this.” I smiled looking at my bonded. He was right though I was amazed I was able to do that. I had built 45 houses in two days, and I laughed like a schoolgirl. “Wait one more thing.” I had something up my sleeve. I didn’t know if this would go over well or not but I preferred it over a dirt road. I walked close to Jax and lifted my hands to be parallel to the dirt ground. Rocks rose from the earth. They went down the whole road and they were close together. When I noticed one beneath my bare feet was sharp, I leveled them all. The rocks formed to be the same perfect height it was probably the most even the stones could be.
I smiled broadly at Jax. In a matter of movements, we had a full stone road created all the way down the new buildings. I looked at my mate. “No more fucking in the dirty.” I paused. “At least not here that is.” Jax through his giant muscular arm around me and we walked back to the house. “Do you think Max will be up tonight?” Jax shook his head. “Nah, I tuckered him the hell out doing tracking, he will be out for another day. I checked on him before I came to find you.” I nodded and said, “Well what you guys spent what ten hours on it?” He nodded.
We both went upstairs to get ready for dinner and I looked through my closet I didn’t know what to wear. It wasn’t super formal, but I didn’t just want to wear my cotton shorts and tank top that was my go-to at home. Jax came up behind me. “Wear something grey it makes your eyes pop.” I snorted. “When did you become the fashion expert?” I asked. “Never I just know what I like seeing you in, which frankly is anything, but grey makes your eyes stand out.” Of course it did. My eyes were grey. “Fine” I picked out a grey Cordery zipper dress, that was short and a black long sleeve for underneath.
I through my hair up in a clip and did light makeup. I laughed when I put on little silver hoops. “I look like a mom.” I said and Jax called out from the stairs “You are a mom love, what you are is a mom I want to fuck.” I laughed shouting back. “You already did love.” I heard him laughing as I got on the steps to join him downstairs. “What are you making for dinner?” Jax asked and I raised my eyebrows. “Stuffed acorn squash with spice Italian sausage and then a German chocolate cake for dessert.” Jax mouth tightened I knew he was salivating. “Oh, and I am making a honey bourbon apple cider cocktail. And yes, before you ask it is from your company.” He nodded. “What do you need me to do?”
I looked him over. “Sit there and look pretty.” Everything began, I didn’t want to do it the human way it was already late in the afternoon and people would be here soon. In fact, just as I started the front door opened. “It is John and Anne” John announced himself and his wife. “Come in, we are in the kitchen.” I shouted as things were all moving around. Anne said, “Holly Shit.” I didn’t look at her but kept my back facing what I was doing. I heard Jax say “Oh yeah you have never seen Cora use magic in the kitchen. You should see what she did outside she built you a house.” I didn’t need to see her face to know her mouth had dropped.
I finally finished the meal and shot our guests a smile. “Hold on just a few more things.” I moved to the pantry opened the door and linens, China, glasses, tableware, the extra leaf for the table and several chairs flew out. I had them all suspended over our small table. Then the table expanded, and I set it with magic, opening a kitchen drawer for the silverware to fly out and be place. I leaned into my wall and had four cocktails poured and floated over to the four of us. Anne’s mouth was hanging open. “It is like watching beauty and the beast.” I laughed.
“Can be anyways should we toast?” Everyone nodded. “To White Paw Pack.” We all drank, and Anne came up to me. “I have seen you do magic, but nothing like that.” I laughed. “Yeah, I tend to do things the human way or have until recently.” She laughed. “Why would you ever do it if you could make a whole meal and set all this in minutes.” She asked. “I had a lot more time to kill that is why, been busy you know?” She nodded. I liked Anne she was sweet, but I never knew why she married John. Until he told Jax and I. “John told me he told you that I like...” I could tell she was having a hard time verbalizing it. “I know Anne and that is fine with me. No shame, if it works for you and John then it works for me.” She looked like she was going to cry. “Thank you, Luna.” It felt odd hearing that again.
“So, the others should be here soon, but if you guys want, we can show you what I built for you guys.” John and Anne both nodded fervently. As we walked, I told them “Okay so I didn’t do the inside obviously there is only a floor and some stairs, and mind you I can change anything. But you guys need to pick a layout and all that. I had no idea what you liked but I can basically do anything you want.” Anne hugged John as they looked up at their home.
