Chapter 165. Uncle Wren
Chapter 165. Uncle Wren
"Wren! I can't believe it's you."
Riley hugged Wren very tightly after she opened the front door wide and told him to come in. What an unexpected surprise she met the super busy Wren. After a week of living in New York, Riley finally met him.
"Long time no see and you are getting more beautiful and sexy," Wren chuckled as he patted Riley's shoulder a few times.
God only knew how much he missed this woman. He had lost track of Riley ever since Riley disappeared and Logan gave him a stern warning not to try to get anyone to track her down.
"You say I'm sexy? No way. I got fatter after giving birth. Come in."
"But you actually look sexier. You used to be so skinny, you know. I prefer your new look."
Wren studied Riley's body from head to toe. Her long hair was cut shorter with a very beautiful wavy style at the ends. Riley had gained weight because her arms and curves were plumper than three years ago. Riley looked unbelievably beautiful in the sleeveless summer suit that wrapped her slim body. Overall, Riley was still as beautiful as he remembers.
"What? Aren't I fat?"
"I told you, you are very beautiful. Where is your son? I came here as quickly as I could after I got word that you were in New York.”
"Who's telling you?" Riley frowned.
Landon likely wasn't going to tell Wren she was there. Landon tended to be possessive of her and Landon hated Wren, who was too close to her.
"Logan. One of his men gave me an update about you.”
"Logan? When?"
Riley thought that Logan might be taking a back-up step by asking Wren for help.
“About a week or so ago. He said you were in New York. But last week I had some seminars I had to attend. I can't come here."
"Why did he tell you?"
Wren raised an eyebrow in confusion. “Is it strange to tell me that you are here with your son?”
They walked hand in hand toward Archer's playroom, where Archer was dismantling all his toys and making the place a complete mess. Archer had refused to take a nap today because he had unopened toys from his father and he wanted to open them today because he had been a good boy by eating his whole lunch and not leaving any vegetables on his plate.
"I thought Logan wouldn't tell you. Is your relationship with him okay?"
"Maybe I'll tell you the details later after I meet your son."
Riley nodded her head in understanding and pushed the door of Archer's playroom wide. The room looked messier than before she left it to open the door for Wren.
“Gosh, Archy, why did you unpack all your toys on the floor? Take all the Lego pieces. It could hurt someone's leg if they stepped on it.”
Archer grinned, showing a row of white teeth as he gripped the remote control in his hand.
"I'll take them later."
"Do it now. Mommy and Uncle Wren can't step inside if your toys are still strewn at the door."
"Uncle Wren?"
Archer poked his head behind his mother's body to find a man in a short-sleeved shirt and jeans waving at him.
"Hi, I'm Wren."
"I'm Archie. Are you mommy's friend?"
"I'm your mommy and daddy's friend. Wow, what a messy room. Your mother will be nagging all day.”
"Mommy is very fierce."
Archer picked up his Lego pieces after getting a glare from Riley. He did it in a hurry and put them in the bucket quickly.
"Done. Now can I play?"
"You haven't greeted Uncle Wren yet. He came all the way here just to see you.”
"We've greeted, mom," Archer sulked playfully.
Wren burst out laughing at how ridiculous Riley and Archer were for arguing in front of him. He never imagined that Riley would become a fierce mother one day.
“I thought you would always be innocent and naive.”
“Those are the two things I hate the most about you. You and Logan both like to mock me as a naive and innocent girl. Well, I'm not like that. Please sit on that couch. I'll make you a drink."
Just as Riley was about to step out of the room, Betty suddenly appeared behind the door.
“Betty, what a coincidence. Can you get Wren a drink and some snacks from the kitchen?”
"Of course. I will be right back."
"Thank you so much Betty."
"Never mind."
Riley left the door open and joined Wren to sit on the comfortable lazy couch. Her bottom sank into the soft couch, and she leaned against it as she watched Wren help Archer install the battery for his remote control car.
“As the son of Logan Hatcher, I wouldn't be surprised if Archer had this many toys. That's why I didn't bring him toys."
“Never buy him toys. I even scolded Logan to stop lavishing Archer with overpriced toys. All this is too much for Archer to play alone.”
“But Logan must have bought him toys anyway. Logan wouldn't miss an opportunity to make his son happy, right?”
"That's right. But I told him that buying Archer too many toys would make Archer a wasteful boy. I had told him that I didn't want my son to be a bad boy in the future. I want him to be a gentleman.”
"Alright, alright, you're obsessed with the good boy, aren't you?" Wren burst out laughing.
He then turned to Archer and played around with his sophisticated remote control car. Logan really didn't mess with his son's stuff. Now Archer had this many toys. Next year, Logan wouldn’t just give him a remote control car, but a real car that was really sophisticated.
"Well, go play, kid. I'll talk to your mother."
Archer shouted with joy and snatched the remote control from Wren's hand. He seemed unconcerned about the adult business his mother would have with his new uncle.
