Chapter 247

Chapter 247

VIP hospital room.

Haven's family never imagined there could be such a luxurious hospital room in the world.

It had everything, a bathroom, a kitchen, and not only that, but also a large living room with floor-to-ceiling windows and all kinds of smart appliances.

However, thinking about what was about to happen, Haven's children were worried sick.

"Maybe we should just try to get on Stella's good side. Stella has a conscience after all. Over all these years, she's made money and never forgotten to send you money. What we're doing doesn't seem right."

"Yeah, we should think long-term. Look, Matthew is on the rich list, and Stella's biological grandfather is wealthy too. As long as we stay on their good side, we'll at least have food and shelter taken care of, if nothing else."

Everyone was talking at once.

Clearly they weren't planning to go through with the plan. In their view, Haven's plan was too rushed. If something went wrong, they'd all end up in jail.

Haven's face filled with anger, "You idiots, do you even know what you're saying? Look at the bank account balance. Everything we're doing is just to make money. Stella's had nothing to do with us since she was little. You think now that she's living the good life, she'll help us?"

"She's been reunited with her family for so long and become a billionaire, but she still only sends a few thousand dollars a month. Listen to me on this. This is tens of millions of dollars we're talking about, money we could never earn in our lifetimes."

When cooperating with that person, Haven had hesitated about whether to side with Stella instead and get more benefits, but completely changed her mind when she saw Stella.

Either way, it was true that she hadn't cared about her for all those years. Haven knew perfectly well she had no real kindness toward Stella. That being the case, she might as well work with the person in the shadows. At least with those tens of millions of dollars, everyone in the family could move to the city.

Since she'd already made up her mind, there was no room for regret, or she'd end up with nothing.

Haven's words were ice cold, "Listen up, from now on you all do what I say. When Stella comes, if you dare talk nonsense, you'll see what I do to you. These next few days I want her at the hospital taking care of me."

"We're going to use moral pressure on her. Isn't Stella a reporter? And her family members are all capable people. For the sake of her reputation, she'll come obediently."

As for everything else, it had nothing to do with them.

Whether something happened to Stella, whether something happened to the baby—none of their concern.

The family talked among themselves, not knowing that someone had already heard every word clearly.

Stella sat in the car, watching the surveillance footage, and couldn't help but laugh.

Matthew beside her looked serious, "Since you already know they want to hurt you, why do you have to show up? These people are just small players. As long as we keep watch, we'll definitely catch whoever's behind this. Since Isabella hasn't fled the country, she'll be even easier to find. Leave it to me, it's just a matter of time."

When he learned that Stella was actually going to the hospital to see Haven, he immediately wrapped up everything and rushed over.

He'd thought that as long as he explained the pros and cons, Stella would change her mind, but she turned out to be stubborn.

Stella laughed coldly, "I know it's a matter of time, but what if Isabella gets away? No matter what, I have to get revenge for my good friend. She's done so many terrible things, she should be arrested. Or are you helping Isabella now?"

Stella grabbed Matthew's tie and pulled him close, her eyes cold as she looked at him.

"Listen carefully. I know Isabella is William's Raina, and I know their relationship is unusual, but I absolutely won't allow anyone who hurts my friends to walk away free. Not before, and definitely not now."

Whatever the relationship between William and Isabella was love, family, or something else. She had zero interest in it.

Right now Evelyn was still lying in bed, only occasionally able to move around in a wheelchair, and this would go on for several more months. Sure, William kept saying he'd take care of her, but men are so fickle. He says he'll take care of her now, but maybe in a few days he'll change his mind.

So she had to catch Isabella and bring her back.

Stella's eyes were determined, and she didn't forget to warn Matthew, "I'm saying this one more time—stay away from William. If you guys do anything to hurt people, I won't let you get away with it."

Faced with this warning, Matthew was helpless.

He'd already said many times that the relationship between William and Isabella wasn't what they imagined, but Stella wouldn't listen to a word of it.

The car soon stopped at the hospital entrance.

Matthew wanted to go with her, but Stella pushed him back into the car.

"I told you, I'm handling this alone. I know you want to help me, so just watch from the shadows. I want to face them myself."

Stella turned and got on the elevator.

In the hospital room.

After Stella entered, the room suddenly became much quieter.

Haven no longer looked as energetic as before, but lay weakly in bed, barely breathing, as if she might die any second.

Stella walked over expressionless, looking at the person in bed, her eyes full of mockery.

After all these years, Haven still loved to put on an act as always. Back when Preston and Gemma were alive, Haven would act and show how much she cared about her, but as soon as Preston and Gemma left, she'd immediately turn on her.

Stella took a deep breath and pushed all these thoughts aside, "How is the situation now? What did the doctor say? I can pay part of the medical bills, but everyone needs to split the cost."

Hearing this, Haven immediately opened her eyes, "You're so rich now, and the medical bills are only tens of thousands of dollars, but you won't even pay them. You really are an ungrateful wretch."

"Are you cursing at me now? Well then, I'll do exactly what you say. Fine, you can handle the medical bills yourselves. I'm not getting involved anymore. Don't come looking for me if anything happens."
