Chapter 246

Chapter 246

Stella slapped Raina again and again.

Raina's cheeks turned red and swollen from the beating, her eyes wide open.

Stella stopped when her hand got tired, "Remember this. If you want to provoke me, you're not qualified. Who's the shameless one? Who's overestimating themselves? Everyone knows the truth."

"If you were really that confident, you shouldn't have come to me. You should've gone to Matthew and told him to divorce me. The fact that you came to me shows you're not that confident at all. What do you want? To provoke me? To stress out a pregnant woman and cause premature birth, to hurt the baby? This is the first time and the last time. Come here spouting nonsense again, and I'll beat you to death."

With that, Stella left.

Raina stood there, her face twisted with rage, her eyes full of ice-cold hatred.

Stella didn't care one bit. She stormed back to the office, but this time she didn't open the door—she kicked it open.

Matthew jumped in shock.

Seeing Stella's furious expression, he frowned, "What's wrong? Are you not feeling well? Or..."

Stella walked step by step to the sofa and sat down, taking deep breaths. After calming herself down, she spoke in a sarcastic tone, "Guess who I just ran into on the company rooftop?"

"Who? Was it William?"

Matthew thought for a moment. In Stella's world right now, the person she should hate most would be William.

After all, Evelyn getting hurt this badly was all his fault.

Stella rolled her eyes, "You're really good at changing the subject. Listen carefully, I saw a woman, a very beautiful woman, and she told me she's my husband's first love."

"Oh, and that woman was so generous. She said she won't divorce during my pregnancy, but will wait until after the baby is born before making me divorce. How generous of her."

"My marriage is being dictated by another woman. Do you have any explanation for this?"

Her tone grew colder and colder by the end.

They had written it clearly in their agreement. For the sake of the child, they would maintain appearances.

At least during the marriage, neither party could cheat.

But ever since Raina returned to the country, Matthew had been helping her organize concerts and getting her into the company. What exactly was he trying to do?

The room fell silent.

Matthew sighed and walked over, pouring a glass of milk, "Have a sip. Getting angry isn't good for pregnant women. Whatever it is, we can work it out slowly."

"I don't care what relationship you have with that person, but one thing—you can't bring this mess to me, and you can't affect my mood or my child. Forget it, I'm leaving. This company is a mess, I can't stay here another minute."

Stella stood up from the sofa and turned to leave.

Matthew wanted to stop her, but seeing that stubborn figure, he stopped himself.

The car sped along the road.

Stella looked in the rearview mirror. Confirming that Matthew wasn't chasing after her made her even angrier.

"Go to the Brown Villa."

Evelyn was staying there.

Right now, going home would just mean getting angry alone. Better to visit Evelyn.

Half an hour later, seeing Evelyn in such good spirits, Stella's mood improved a bit, "How are you? Are you comfortable living here? If not, come live with me. You know I have a professional medical team there, taking care of you would be no problem at all."

Evelyn shook her head, "Stella, I know you care about me, but you're pregnant. What if worrying about me hurts the baby? But wait, what happened? You seemed really angry when you arrived just now."

Stella told her about Raina.

Evelyn's face instantly darkened, "So what are you going to do? The baby's due soon. But you're different from before. You have the confidence to leave anytime. Whatever you decide to do, I'll support you. And Mr. Aiden Moore and the others are very reasonable people. If they really do something wrong, they'll stand on your side too."

Although they hadn't known each other long, Mia and Aiden were extremely reasonable people.

They wouldn't protect Matthew just because he was their son. On the contrary, they disliked Raina and would stand on Stella's side.

Stella thought for a moment, "Let's maintain the status quo for now. You know Grandpa's health isn't good—I don't want him to worry. Enough about me, let's talk about you. The doctor said a good mood helps recovery, you should go out and walk around more. The weather's beautiful outside right now."

Evelyn nodded, "The sunlight in my room is already very good."

The two were chatting when suddenly there was a knock on the door.

William walked in with a serious expression, his eyes fixed intently on Stella, "You..."

"What?" Stella asked back.

"Nothing, it's just that since you're here for once, why don't you stay here for a few days? You two can keep each other company."

William's tone was extremely awkward as he spoke. Clearly he didn't want this, but for his beloved Evelyn, he had to ask.

Stella laughed in anger, "Forget it. If I stayed here, it would affect the baby's health. Just seeing you annoys me—I wouldn't even be able to eat."

William was about to retort angrily when suddenly his phone rang.

Stella glanced at it and answered.

Then a pitiful voice came through the phone, "Stella, I know I was wrong. I've been in a car accident and I'm in the hospital right now. Can you please come see me? The doctor says I need major surgery and I might not wake up. I just want to see you before I die."

Haven's voice was old and pitiful.

But Stella wasn't moved at all. She frowned, "You were in a car accident?"

"Yes, a car accident. I'm lying in a hospital room right now. I'll be going into surgery soon. Please come quickly, or you won't see me in time."

"Child, I know your grandmother has done many wrong things over the years, but I'm dying now. Please come see me one last time, so you won't have regrets."

"Yes, please come quickly. We're waiting for you at the hospital. I'll send you the information right away."

There was a chorus of voices on the other end, and then they hung up.

Right after, a message came through.

It was the hospital address and room number.

Before Stella could do anything, Evelyn grabbed her hand, "Don't go. This family clearly has bad intentions. What if it's a trap?"

This family was obviously being manipulated by someone.

Everything required caution.

Stella just laughed dismissively, "How could I let them down if I don't go?"

As she spoke, her fingers rapidly tapped on her phone screen.
