31. The Dream

31. The Dream
Jade's POV

It only takes me a minute, but it feels right, I feel the need to open up to him. He is my brother after all, I want to get to know this side of him. It's not just my wolf anymore. Whatever decisions our parents made is on them, he had no part in what happened to me when I was born.

"Yes Nicolas, I would like that." He slowly wraps his arms around me and hugs me almost as if he is holding the most fragile thing in the world, if only he knew. It is different from Liam's hugs I hate to compare the both since I love my brother Liam to death but at the same time, Nicolas feels like a part of home, his scent wraps around me like a security blanket I didn't know I needed.

I feel taken aback by the familiarity I feel with this hug alone. I hear his voice break the silence, "You can call me Nick, you're my little sister and I want you to use the name all my loved ones use.

Letting go of the hug I respond, "Alright Nick, thank you for the talk, I really needed that." He responds, "No problem and take as long as you need, you know where to find us when you're ready to talk more. "

I nodded and started making my way back home. Lost in thought I enter my home not seeing anyone else around I make my way to my bedroom, it is already dark outside, and I decide to shower and sleep. The day has exhausted me till no end. After a quick shower and sleep overtakes me as soon as I am in bed.

Dream

Suddenly I wake up with a startle. I notice I am no longer in my room, but I am in a really large and elegant room. Looking at my surrounding I can see other people in the room complety engrossed in whatever was going on since before I woke up here. How did I end up here?

I see a little boy walking towards the others; he looks completely scared but something about him seems familiar to me. I hear his trembling voice ask "Mama, what's happening, is my little sister okay?" He starts getting closer to where the others huddled up surrounding something. As he does that, he completely walks through me.

Startled by that, I tried to speak, but no one seems to be able to hear me. At the end of where the others are at, I hear a sharp scream break through the commotion. I make my way to see what is going on and see that the person that everyone is surrounding is the queen.

Wait, so the little boy must be Nicolas. How am I even here?

I hear the queen command the others, "everyone leave the room, except Maria." She waits for everyone to rush out the room following her command, and I see one of the servants stay behind.

"Maria, it's time my water broke, and I have been having contractions, please tell Emilio and tell him to guard this side of the wing, make sure none of the intruders make their way in here. We need to make sure the warriors in the frontlines are able to keep our castle secure until Santi makes it back." She suddenly lets out another scream.

"Mama?" I hear the same frightened voice from before.

"Hijo, it's okay your sister is coming, this is just part of the process don't be scared. We will be fine"

"But you're in pain, is my sister in pain too?" She reassures him quickly, "No Nick, I promise your sister is fine, this is just the process your sister and I need to go through so she can come out my belly." A painful moan leaves her mouth.

"Maria, I need you to grab the things we kept in here for the birth, the baby is coming fast and I'm beginning to feel the need to push. Nick, I need you to do something for me, I need you to turn around for me, cover your ears if my screams are too much for you."

I can almost feel his resistance to do what she asked, but something in her eyes left no room for argument, and he did as he was told.

"My queen, here I have everything let me help you prepare."

The servant helps the queen take off her dress and helps her into a robe and wipes off all the sweat around the queen's face. "Just get into whatever position feels right my queen."

The queen then gets into a squatting position and lets out a painful scream. "Maria, this is too fast I can already feel her crowning." The maid has a basin, a few towels and some other instruments ready for what I can only guess is my arrival.

Queen Isabella hasn't stopped screaming, and I see that she is using all her strength to push. She relaxes for a minute and begins to push again and repeats that process four more times. I look towards Nicolas and he is still turned around, exactly as his mom asked but is now covering his ears. The queen suddenly lets out a scream that sounds different, and it's followed by a sigh of relief. Then, I hear the cry of a baby.

I whipped my head back around and saw she was now holding a baby as if she quite literally caught it when it came out. She adjusts her position on the ground by laying on a makeshift bed on the ground the servant had prepared.

The servant helps with the aftermath of the birth and gets rid of everything that was soiled. While the queen, although exhausted, smiles down at the baby." Nick, come meet your baby sister." Nicolas timidly turns around and makes his way towards the queen.

"She has your eyes, Nick; look at how perfect she is." Nicolas looks at the baby and says, "she looks wrinkly."

The queen chuckles, "All babies look like this when they are born, it's because she was in water while she was inside my belly."

"Oh, kind of like when I take too long in my baths."

"Yes, something like that. Now we have to find the perfect name for her."

As she was saying this, she was caressing the baby's cheek with her finger, The baby opened her eyes again and I can tell it's me by the eye color. The queen stares back at the baby and so does Nick.

"Mama, it's true she really does have mine and dad's eyes."

"I know right she has your beautiful eyes it’s like I’m looking at a jade. Wait, that's it! This is perfect for her; I will name her Jade."
