Another Chance

Keira's Pov

How was trusting in their love for me supposed to help me win when they are comfortably killing me. I can feel myself slipping towards a permanent sleep as my strength wanes and my limbs stop fighting.

I hear a deep groan before Garden's hand leaves my neck. I fall down on the floor and my eyes fly open. I notice that both Garren and Fenris collapsed as well. They do not seem to be in pain, but they are huffing and puffing as if extremely tired.

"Hey! We must leave," Conrad's worried voice urges as he comes to squat by my side. I had asked him to stay outside so that he wouldn't fall into the Shaman's spell as well. Guess I screamed loud enough for him to hear. "I cannot kill my bewitched brothers. Let's leave before I have to."

He picks me up in his arms and make a rush for the door. "Where do you suggest we go?" he asks while setting me down on the front yard to take off his shirt. His massive wings spring out of his back.

"My father is still in there. I cannot leave him to die," I say even though I don't know how to save him.

"We cannot fight my brothers' powers as well as the Shaman's dark spells. We must leave now and figure out a way to save him later," Conrad answers before picking me up again.

"Take us to Silverpaw pack," I suggest. "We need to know what dark spell the Shaman cast to end our mate bond."

Conrad nods before flying us off.

Arina's true mate, Luther, is Silverpaw's beta. He rejected her without second thought on her eighteenth birthday. Perhaps that's the reason she is full of hate. But she already had a bad reputation even before the rejection.

Now she has two of my husband's, but she better pray that I never find a way to break her spells because once I do I will rip her into a thousand tiny shreds.

Alpha Alaric and beta Luther stares at us with wide eyes. The Shaman was one of the most trusted people in the pack. Of course they were doubtful of my story at first, but they believed me soon as they heard that Arina was involved. She is the pack's demon, one dearly loved by her father.

The pack has been the looking forward to an angel's visit. But not this kind. Angel Conrad and I were supposed to be on our honeymoon. But here we are, seeking answers from this ordinary pack.

"They must have used the enchanted blood spell. It's quite powerful," one of the Alpha's men supplies.

"And how do you know this?" Alpha Alaric questions.

"Well . . . the Shaman once cast the spell for me. It gave me a fake mate bond with the girl I wanted for two years," the man hesitantly answers.

So it lasts two years? That's an awfully long time. I can only imagine what she can have done to my entranced husbands and the kingdom if allowed to be the queen until the fake bond ends.

"What does it take to cast this enchanted blood spell?" I ask.

"Only my blood and that of the woman I wanted," the man answers.

"My brothers would not have given the Shaman their blood," Conrad points.

"They somehow thought Arina was me," I say.

"That is strange. They must be under two spells," the alpha says.

"How can any be broken?" Conrad asks.

"We wouldn't know, your majesty. Only the Shaman practiced these things," Luther answers.

"Can we search the Shaman's house for any clues?" I ask.

"Of course, your majesty. You're both welcome to have anything you need to end this horrendous evil," Alpha Aleric answers.

"Thank you," I say.

We stand and end to what I remember being the shaman's beautiful home. He used to earn a lot from his spells. Too bad the little wealth was still not enough for his greedy daughter.

His office is full of texts about enchantments and heavy spells.

"Why do you let witches live so free in your pack?" Angel Conrad questions alpha Aleric and his beta who had followed us.

"I honestly never thought that this particular Shaman was capable of evil, your majesty. Apparently I judged wrong," the alpha aswes ruefully.

I do not blame him. I too trusted the shaman to take away our mate bond for a while so I could return to Lunacrest without notice. Back then he did not know that my mates are the angel kings. I imagine Arina grew env after the news of our mate bond spread across all kingdoms.

We start searching through the piles of texts. After hours of relentless search I finally find the text speaking of Stealing Identities.
