Chapter 73 Sienna's pov

Chapter 73 Sienna's pov
Sleep did not come easily that night.

I lay awake on the bed, my thoughts drifting back and forth. I stared at the ceiling as thoughts chased each other in my head.

Every time I closed my eyes, Alpha Jacquet’s face appeared—his hurt, his pride wounded in front of his pack.

Then Lucian’s face followed, tense and guarded, like a man already preparing for war.

In actual truth, Lucian was always on guard.

The pack house was quiet, but I could feel it. The tension. I knew tomorrow was not going to be a smiling one between Alpha Jacquet and I.

I turned on my side and looked at Lucian. He was not asleep either. His eyes were open, fixed on the wall.

“You’re still awake,” I whispered.

“So are you,” he replied softly.

We both kept silent. We both had made a mistake tonight. The thought of how we were going to fix it was the only thing on my mind at the moment.

“I’m sorry,” I said finally. “For tonight.”

He turned to face me. “You don’t owe anyone an apology.”

“I embarrassed him,” I said. “In front of everyone.”

Lucian sighed. “He embarrassed himself by assuming your heart belonged to him.”

I sat up slowly. “It’s not that simple.”

“It never is,” he said, sitting up too. “But you didn’t do anything wrong.”

I hugged my knees to my chest. “Tomorrow won’t be easy.”

“No,” he agreed. “It won’t.”

I hesitated before asking the question that had been burning in my chest. “What if he forces a choice?”

Lucian’s eyes darkened. “Then we leave.”

“Just like that?” I asked.

“If we have to,” he said firmly. “I won’t let him cage you. Not when you dont love him.”

I swallowed hard.

“This is his pack. He saved us. He gave us protection at the time we needed it the most, Lucian.”

Lucian leaned closer. “Protection should not come with chains.”

He stared at me. I nodded slowly, even though I was a bit scared.

“Lucian,” I whispered, “what if he knows who you really are?”

His body went still. I could tell he was scared. There was no way I could beat all his men.

Ravenclaw might seem weak on the outside from but they were strong. Stronger than I cared to admit.

“Does he?” he asked quietly.

“I don’t know,” I admitted. “But Mara suspects something. She feels it.”

Lucian exhaled slowly. “Then tomorrow will reveal more than we are ready for.”

I reached out and took his hand. “Whatever happens… don’t face it alone. Promise me you are not going to let go.”

He squeezed my hand gently. “I promise. Go to bed now, we have a long story ahead of us tomorrow.”

“ Goodnight.” I said slowly.

Lucian turned facing me, he grabbed my face and kissed me on the lips. “ Goodnight baby.”

I shut my eyes finding comfort in his arms.

Morning came too fast.

The pack gathered early, earlier than usual. Word had spread. I could feel eyes on me as Lucian and I walked through the courtyard.

Each pack staff couldn't stop whispering and looking at us like we had done something wrong.

Alpha Jacquet stood at the center, tall and composed, but his eyes were sharp.

Mara stood beside him, her face unreadable.

“Bring them forward,” Jacquet said.

Lucian’s grip tightened slightly on my hand, but he said nothing as we stepped closer.

“Sienna,” Alpha Jacquet said, his voice calm but heavy. “Last night, you rejected me.”

My heart pounded. “Yes.”

“You did so without explanation,” he continued. “And that is your right. But as Alpha, and as the man who offered you his name, I deserve honesty.”

The pack fell silent.

“Why?” he asked.

I took a deep breath. My hands trembled, but I forced myself to speak. “Because my heart does not belong to you.”

A ripple ran through the crowd.

Jacquet nodded slowly. “And where does it belong?”

I hesitated for only a second. “With Lucian.”

Gasps echoed.

Lucian stiffened beside me.

Jacquet’s jaw clenched. “Then tell me,” he said, his voice lower now, “what is he to you?”

I looked up at Lucian, then back at Jacquet. “He is not my brother.”

Mara’s eyes widened slightly. I could bet she didn't expect that I was going to be so plain about it.

“He is the man I love,” I said clearly.

The courtyard erupted in whispers.

Jacquet raised his hand, silencing them. His eyes burned, but there was also pain in them.

“So this is your choice,” he said. “You choose him.”

“Yes,” I said softly. “I do.”

Jacquet turned his gaze to Lucian. “Then now it is your turn. Who are you?”

Lucian stepped forward slowly, releasing my hand.
“I am Lucian,” he said. “A man who has lost his pack. A man with enemies. A man trying to survive.”

“That is not the whole truth,” Mara said sharply.

Lucian met her gaze. “ And what exactly is the truth?”

“ You don't seem like an ordinary man.” Alpha Jacquet said getting off his seat.

“ You seem different. I have seen the way you fight. I have taken my time bro studies you, Lucian. I extended hospitality to you and even offered you a place in the pack but it seems to be that you have lied to us all.”

The elders immediately began to whisper. Each of them speaking at once.

“ And what are you saying, Alpha Jacquet? That I came here to steal your throne?” Lucian said in anger.

I could feel the tension in his voice, the way his wolf stirred. I knew this was going to result in a fight if I didn't stop it.

“ You tell me.” Alpha Jacquet walked, his step making a gentle sound.

I could see the anger in his eyes.

Maybe I should not have said no. A decision I was sure to regret soon enough.

He stopped right in front of us. “ You are nothing like a common man. You have this aura around you that makes me wonder who to truly are.”

Alpha Jacquet turned to one of the guards. “ Sword!” he said with a firm voice.
