Chapter 69 Lucian's pov
Chapter 69 Lucian's pov
“ She likes me.” the word came out of my mouth. I stuttered a bit and tried to gauge Sienna's reaction.
She only looked away and said nothing.
I knew she hated the fact that another woman liked me. I remembered kissing Juliet too but that was because I wanted to protect her.
Here in Ravenclaw pack, she doesn't need anyone to protect her.
“ The Alphas like me. I can read the emotions.” Sienna said calmly.
I let out a long sigh.
“ What do we do?” I said, raising my eyebrows a bit.“ They think we are siblings.”
“ I don't know, Lucian. I only said that because I was scared the men might try to harm you if they knew we were mates.” Sienna replied
“ I need the army of this pack. They can help me take back my throne.” I said looking at her again
But instead, she squeezed her eyebrows. “ Is that only what matters to you? Taking back your throne?”
I stand up staring at her face. “ Do you know how much I had sacrificed for you, huh?” I said with a harsh voice.
“ I gave up everything I had managed to build over the years. And you think I have not done anything? That I valued my throne over you?”
Sienna looked at me, “ And are you going to throw me to the Alpha to get his army to fight your fight?” I shake my head slightly.
“ I can't believe you right now. I thought you understood me. My kinsmen are waiting for me to come back and save them. The pack needs a true leader. But I am here hiding.”
“ I saved you when you were at the point of dying and yet you still want to go back? Have you ever thought of letting go? Maybe this is a fresh start for us both. We could be anything we want to be here.”
“ Have you forgotten they killed your mother? Don't tell me the little days or weeks you used here made you forget what they did to us both.”
“ I remember, Lucian. You don't need to try and remind me. But we need time to regroup, think and see if it is worth it. I miss my mother very much but she won't want me to give away my life like this.”
I ran my hands through my hair. “ Henry was right.” I said under my breath.
“ Henry? You mean the guard that made our passing easy. So what does he have to do with any of this?” She asked with her eyebrows arched.
“ Nothing! I am going to do this with or without your help. If you want to stay back here and get married to try Alpha if this pack then soothes yourself. I am going back to set my people free for Elder Vincent and Stephan. I am going to liberate them and rule where I belong.”
I gave her one long lasting look and walked out.
\[ Later that day \]
I was in our room going through some books when I heard a knock at the door.
“ Come in.” I said, staring at the door.
A guard walked in and bowed. “ Your presence is needed in the council chambers, Lucian. The alpha would like to see you right now.”
My heart beat rose gently.
“ Am I in trouble?” I asked quickly.
The guard shook his head negatively. “ Not that I know off.”
I grabbed my armless jacket and wore it.
I knew things could go AWOL if they knew what I was. Who I really was. Trying to hide my identity was all that mattered to me.
I knew Sienna would not betray me. She had done more than enough to help me hide who I truly was.
The guards announced my presence and I walked in to see all the elders seated.
Alpha Jacquet raised his head slightly when I walked in. I looked around and I could see Sienna seated not too far from him.
“ You called for me.” I said slowly, my head bowed in respect.
“ Yes.” Alpha Jacquet said with a smile. “ Please, have your seat.”
I walked closer and took a seat opposite Mara. She smiled immediately, our face met and I nodded.
Alpha Jacquet coughed, “ I think we should hold a party to welcome you into our midst and officially declare you a part of this pack.”
\[ Elders murmured \]
I could tell he has not spoken with any of them.
Was this because of Sienna?
My gaze moved slowly towards her and I could see that she was just as surprised as I was.
“ But we only just go into the pack, Alpha Jacquet.” I stammered.
Alpha Jacquet laughed.
“ I know but I have seen that my sister has taken a liking to you. You see Mara here is a good judge of character. I bet she agrees with me.”
Alpha Jacquet raised his eyes to meet that of his sister. “ What do you think, Mara?”
The room went quiet as all eyes turned to Mara. I knew she was going to agree to what her brother had just said.
She shifted a little on her seat before clearing her throat.
“I do agree,” Mara said calmly. “Lucian has proven himself useful and respectful since he arrived. The pack needs more people like that.”
A few elders nodded in agreement. Others looked unsure, exchanging glances with one another.
My hands tightened on my knees. This was happening too fast. A party meant attention. Attention meant questions. And questions could lead to the truth I was trying so hard to bury.
Alpha Jacquet smiled wider. “Then it is settled. A welcoming feast will be held in three days.”
“Alpha,” one of the elders finally spoke. “Is it wise to rush this? We do not know much about his past.”My heart skipped.
Alpha Jacquet raised a hand. “Everyone has a past, Elder Roland. What matters is who they are now.”
I lowered my head slightly. “I am grateful for the honor, Alpha. Truly. But I do not wish to bring trouble to your pack.”
“There will be no trouble,” he replied confidently. “You are under my protection.”
I felt Sienna’s gaze on me again. I did not look at her this time. If I did, I feared my control would slip.
The meeting soon ended after some light discussions. One by one, the elders stood and left the chamber. I remained seated until Alpha Jacquet rose from his chair.
“You may go,” he said kindly. “Rest well.”
I stood and bowed before turning towards the door. Just as I stepped out, Mara’s voice stopped me.
“Lucian, a moment please.”
I turned back slowly. Sienna had already stood up too.
“Yes?” I said.
Mara walked closer, lowering her voice. “You seem tense. If something troubles you, you can speak to us.”
“I am fine,” I replied quickly. “Just not used to so much attention.”
She smiled. “You will get used to it.”
Sienna finally spoke. “I will walk him out.”
Mara nodded and stepped back.
Outside the chamber, the hallway felt longer than usual. We walked in silence until we reached our room.
The moment the door closed behind us, Sienna turned to me.
“Why would you say those things earlier?” she asked quietly.
I exhaled sharply. “Because this is getting dangerous. They want to pull me deeper into this pack.”
“And is that such a bad thing?” she asked.
“Yes,” I snapped, then softened my tone. “It is for me. If they find out who I am—”
“They won’t,” she interrupted. “Not if you stop acting like you are already guilty. Or there is something that is actually worth hiding.”
I looked at her, really looked at her. Her eyes were tired, filled with worry.
“I am scared,” I admitted. “Not for myself. For you. I can't protect you if anything goes wrong. I am but one man against many.”
She shook her head. “Then stop trying so hard to make everything difficult. Maybe we need to blend in. And don't you think I have forgotten about everything. Maybe we should try and live the moment, Lucian. Forget about our past for a bit and live a little.”
Silence fell between us again.
Later that night, I could not sleep. My mind kept replaying Alpha Jacquet’s words. A party. A declaration. A bond to this pack.
I stood by the window, staring into the night sky. If I stayed, I risked exposure. If I left, I risked losing the army I needed.
Either way, blood would be spilled. Behind me, Sienna stirred in her sleep and called my name softly.
I closed my eyes.
The Ravenclaw pack thought they were welcoming a stranger.
They had no idea a fallen Alpha was standing in their midst. A true Alpha that was soon going to take back everything that was stolen from me.
