Chapter 64 Lucian's pov
Chapter 64 Lucian's pov
I looked around trying to see if this was not a trap but then, I saw a dark figure emerge from the back of the building. “ Stay behind me, Sienna.” I said immediately.
I watched with keen eyes as the figure got closer.
“ Henry?” I called out slowly. “ What are you doing?”
“ What does it look like I am doing? Do you think you can make it out of here alive? Every corner of the pack is crawling with Elder Vincent men and Stephan's. It is only a matter of time before you are caught.”
I looked at him and hugged him tightly. I have never been so grateful to anyone my entire life.
“ Are you going to be okay?” I asked, looking at his face.
“ I am going to be Lucian. But promise me that you are going to take care of yourself.” Henry said with a keen-eye on me.
I let out a weak smile even though I was hurt. “ I promise.”
“ Don't die. This pack needs it Alpha. I anticipate your arrival my friend. Go in peace.”
Henry bowed a little when he looked at Sienna. I don't know why he did it but I was glad he finally understood why I had to give my life for hers.
“ Come with me. We need to move fast.” I said as we walked through the main gate.
I don't know where to go. I felt a part of me scared but I knew I had to move on if we were going to escape tonight.
My father's land, his pack was the only place I know as my home. I looked back one more time before we ventured into the dark.
The pace was slow.
We couldn't move fast because my body was just healing from its wounds.
I winced in pain each time I took a foot.
“ I think we need to rest. We have been walking for a long time now.” Sienna said out of nowhere.
“ We can't stop now. Stephan won't stop now that he knows that I am alive and neither will Elder Vincent. This is not about you anymore, Sienna. We need to keep moving.”
Sienna inhaled sharply.
“ Is everything alright?” I asked, taking a breather .
“ No! Everything is not. You are in no shape to travel and we don't even know where we are going.”
“ Do you want to go back?” I asked standing firm on my feet even though it hurts.
Silence.
Sienna kept her mouth shut the moment I asked if she wanted to go back.
“ I had done this because of you. I chose to run because you are going to be killed. I can't believe this!” I said angrily.
I kept walking and she followed right behind me. The journey was awfully quiet. She said nothing and I did not either.
We were both tired and maybe a place to rest our head was what we needed.
Night came faster than I expected. The sky turned dark and the cold crept into my bones. My legs felt heavy and my chest burned each time I breathed. I knew I could not keep going ‘til morning.
Ahead of us, I saw a small abandoned shed hidden between thick trees. The roof was broken and vines crawled over the walls, but it was better than sleeping out in the open.
“There,” I said quietly. “We rest there. Just for a few hours.”
Sienna wanted to argue but she didn’t. She only nodded and followed me inside.
The place smelled of dust and old wood. I pushed the door shut and leaned my body against it for support. My wounds screamed the moment I sat down.
Sienna tore a piece of cloth from her dress and wrapped it around my arm. Her hands were shaking.
“You are burning,” she whispered. “You need rest.”
“So do you,” I replied. “Sleep. I will keep watch.”
She gave me a tired look but still lay down beside the wall. Within minutes, her breathing slowed. She was asleep.
I tried to stay awake but pain and exhaustion won. My eyes closed before I knew it.
A loud noise snapped me awake. I raised my heavy eyelids slowly. My body was burning hot but still I was wide awake. I could hear some voices, low, sharo and close.
I sat up slowly and held my breath. Sienna stirred beside me.
“Lucian,” she whispered. “Do you hear that?”
I nodded.
Outside, boots crushed leaves. Torches lit up the trees. Then I heard a voice I knew too well.
“Search everywhere,” the man said. “Alpha Stephan wants them alive. Scan the surroundings again; they can't have gotten far.”
My heart dropped.
They were still tracking us.
“They are close,” Sienna said in fear.
“We have to move. Now,” I said.
I pushed the door open and we ran.
Pain exploded through my body with each step but I ignored it. We ran through thick bushes and sharp branches. The forest felt endless and dark.
Behind us, shouts grew louder.
“There!” someone yelled. “They went that way!”
Torches flashed between trees. Wolves shifted and howled.
“Faster,” I told Sienna, though I knew I was slowing her down.
Suddenly, the ground beneath my feet gave way.
I fell hard.
Sienna screamed as she fell with me.
We landed in a deep pit. Thick chains snapped tight around my legs and arms. The impact knocked the breath out of me.
Sienna crashed beside me, crying out in pain.
Before we could move, figures stepped out of the shadows.
Not Stephan’s men.
These wolves wore dark markings on their skin and metal symbols around their necks. Their eyes glowed with hunger and pride.
One of them laughed.
“Well,” he said slowly, looking down at us. “What do we have here?”
Another stepped forward. His presence was heavy.
Dangerous.
“You fell into Ravenclaw territory,” he said. “And we don’t give gifts back.”
I pulled Sienna close despite the chains. Above us, howls echoed through the forest. Stephan’s men were still searching. And now, another pack had us trapped.I knew one thing at that moment. This night was far from over.
