Chapter 60 Sienna's pov

Chapter 60 Sienna's pov
I could barely sleep all through the night. All I did was stare at the cold room I was locked up in. Stephan had made it clear that I was to be closely monitored. I don't know if he was doing that out of his generosity or if he was trying to make sure I didn't escape again.

But that was not the issue. I was worried.

Worried about the old man I had drawn into my battle. I remembered the state I had left him in that day.

What if he is dead, or what if he had run away from the wood?

What becomes of me?

I shut my eyes and tried to breathe. I remembered Stephan's last words. The anger in his voice and, of course, the doubt in his eyes too. A piece of me must have triggered his senses into realizing Elder Vincent and Olivere might not be the people he thought them to be.

But then, I was relaxed and reassured. I knew Lucian was going to do anything to save me. I remembered him fighting none other than ten men to get me to safety. That alone spoke volumes, and I knew he was never going to allow me to die even if Stephan ordered it.

I prayed again to the moon goddess. If it was indeed my destiny to rule, then I was sure I was not going to die at the hand of Elder Vincent and Olivere.

I was saved once. I believe I could do it again. I shut my eyes trying to get some night sleep, and hopefully, I would see my dead mother again. Even if it was for just one night.

The loud bang at the door yanked me up from the cold floor. Two guards walked in and grabbed my hands. My eye fluttered open, looking scared.

“What is going on?” I said, looking at their faces.

But they don't seem to be concerned. Rather, they were focused on getting me to the pack hall where all the elders were already gathered.

Immediately the door opened, and they all stopped murmuring. They looked at me with eyes of shame and scorn.

I wonder why.

My gaze immediately searched the room, and it fell on him. Lucian was standing very close to the court where I was to stand. I don't know why, but I guess he was just trying to have me protected.

The courtroom went silent as we expected the Alphas.

I don't know why Stephan's uncles were trying so hard to know the truth, but it was none of my business as long as it will help me get justice for my mother's death.

Juliet's words were not going to mean anything the moment the old man walked in and told everyone that he had seen me with the veil that day.

The thought alone gladdens my heart, and I prayed and hoped Stephan's men would find him.

I looked at Lucian, and he smiled at me. His blue eyes glowed faintly, calming the raging storm in my mind down.

After a while, the door let out a rumbling noise, and Stephan's uncles walked in. Each of them mounting their seat.

All we have to do is to wait for Stephan, Elder Vicent, and of course Juliet, whom I cannot wait to see choke on her words.

But then, it is taking a while. I can't see Alpha Stephan, not Elder Vincent, and neither was I seeing Juliet. Something was wrong. I could feel it in my bones.

After what felt like an eternity, the door opened and Stephan walked in. The look on his face was grim, and I could see that he was angry.

My gaze went from Lucian and back to Stephan. He took his seat and looked at me. His gaze shifted and back to the elders.

“It seems we have been mocked and played by this lowly maid here.” Stephan said angrily.

“Wait.” I tried to hold my breath. My eyes laced with tears. “Played? Did you find the old man?” I asked, my gaze drifted to Elder Zack, whom I was expecting to voice his opinion.

“Of course we found your old man. Bring him in!” Stephan roared.

One of the guards nodded, walking out of the door. Every head, every gaze, was fixed on the door in anticipation. Andi couldn't stop my heart from beating fast. Too fast, actually.

The door opened, and Elder Vincent, Olivere, and Juliet walked in with smug grins on their faces.

At that moment, I knew that I had been fucked over again. It always seemed like they were one step ahead of me.

The guards brought the old man into the room with his eye gouged out of its socket.

He wanted to talk, and he couldn't. It was that moment that I knew that his tongue had been cut off.

I fell to my feet and burst into tears. This was way too much. This was not the promise of the moon goddess nor the promise of my mother.

The old man wanted to talk, but he couldn't. The Alphas all looked at themselves, and I could see the backing out of the case.

It was a win for Elder Vincent. No one was going to believe me now, and definitely not even Stephan, who wanted to see me sent to the mines already.

“So tell me, Sienna. Who is the liar now?” Elder Vincent walked forwards with a satisfactory smile on her face. He turned to the Alphas. “My Alphas, it saddens my heart that you came here just to ridicule your nephew when it should be this bitch’s life on the line,” he said with an outburst.

I felt scared. My eyes landed on Stephan, and I saw that look on his face again. The same look he had when his father was killed.

This time, I knew that I was not going to be sent to the mines. I was going to be killed. I had to do something. Anything.
