Chapter 54 Lucian's pov

Chapter 54 Lucian's pov
\[Before the hearing\]

I felt the very life flee from my body before all of this. Like I was going to die. But then, I felt Sienna's strength in keeping me alive. A part of me didn't care if she saw my blood.

Not anymore.

I knew my secret was safe with her. She was the only person who I truly cared about after my parents. I remembered my vow to her mother.

I had promised to keep her safe. Promised to protect her and make sure nothing happened to her. I felt sad and weak that she was the one doing all of that.

I wanted to get up, but I felt my body as heavy as lead. I heard her telling me that she was going to get me some water.

I felt like going with her, but then I was not in shape to follow her.

I sat up, but then I heard footsteps approaching.

My gaze slowly went up, and there he stood, with mocking laughter, staring at me.

Henry grabbed me up with all his strength and dragged me out of the dungeon into the guard's quarter after making sure none of them were around.

He looked at my wound and saw that I was healing up. A part of me felt scared seeing that he said nothing about my blood.

I coughed slowly and he got me water.

“ Drink up you fool!” he shouted angrily at me. “I can't believe you want to kill yourself after trying so hard to stay hidden for many years.

The word ‘years' made me raise my gaze up at him. The cup slowly fell off my hands.

“You knew?” I said slowly, feeling a bit scared. I had tried to stay hidden, or should I say to make sure my blood was hidden from any possible guards.

I had trained harder and pushed myself to my very limit to become a better soldier. A skilled warrior who could overcome any problems.

But how come?

That was the question I kept asking myself.

“Are you still going to make a fool out of yourself? You know, this is not your fight. You can let this go, Lucian. You are the Alpha this pack needs. You are strong, fierce, and compassionate, and should I keep going about the many qualities you have as an Alpha?”

I groaned slightly getting to my feet. I could feel my body healing the moment I drank some water.

“ I need to get back to her. I need to make sure that she is safe.”

“ Oh my fucking gods! That Omega again! When are you going to learn that you are bigger than trying to get yourself killed now.” Henry shouted, he hit the wall so hard that his heavy blow made an impact on the war.

“I didn't save you so that you can die again. Do you think Elder Vincent is not going to know? You chopped off the arms and head of his men, and you think he is going to let all of this go? But for what? A girl who is doomed?”

I let out a growl the moment he said Sienna was doomed. A part of me finds the word intrusive.

Actually, it was not me that was angry. It was my wolf.

Azura.

My eyes glowed faintly.

“Did you see that? What happens when you cannot control yourself? Do you want to die so badly?” Henry said again, slowly this time around.

Henry was a good friend. If he had known for a long time then why didn't he say a word. I knew he was trying to protect me.

I looked at him and sighed. “How long have you known?”

He said nothing but simply went back to the bed and sat down. “Does it matter?” He raised his head slowly to meet my gaze.

“ All that matters is that you are going to take over the kingdom and right by the people. They deserve a better leader. Someone who is going to treat the people right and not someone who is bent on taking the throne because it was his by right.”

“I understand you, Henry. But my fate and Sienna are tied the moment she becomes my mate.”

Henry looked at me. “Are you making this up?”

“And why would I do that? If you knew I was the Alpha, then you would know Sienna was my mate.” I replied. “And right now, I need to make sure she is protected. Elder Vincent and Olivere want her dead for a reason I cannot understand. If she could prove to the Alpha's then she might have a chance.”

“How?” Henry looked at me, his eyebrows arched a bit.

“I am sure my father's men are not all dead. What do you think is going to happen the moment they knew I was alive?” I said, clenching my hands tightly.

“They are going to rally to my side and take out Stephan. I had won without having to shed much blood.”

“And do you think they didn't see you chop down a guard who was doing all of that to show them they should cling to any tiny hope of getting their freedom? Of not having to work for the same man who killed their Alpha. But what did you do? You chopped him down like a log of wood. Didn't you?”

The word hit me hard. I actually didn't think of that. All I cared about was protecting my secret.

“ I didn't do that on purpose, Henry. They would understand.” I said, staring at him.

Henry sighed. “Fine. But you need to stay alive if you are going to take your throne back and make Stephan pay for what his father did. But for now, try and protect yourself. You owe the dead at least that little.”

I nodded.

“But also, I need to protect my mate. I am not an alpha if I cannot protect my Luna. Am I?”

Henry laughed. “You can't change, Lucian. But do you have any plans? What if all of this didn't go the way she had planned? What do you plan on doing?”

That was also something that I didn't plan, but I was sure a plan was going to formulate the moment I took a bold step. It always does.

“Don't worry, Henry. I have it figured out.” I said with a smile even though a part of me was anxious.

But then, Sienna tried to be there for me, it was time I pay her back. She needed me, and I was going to be there.

A part of me was done hiding even though I was a bit scared.
