Chapter 49 Fight in the village
…
Ezekiel had already left the mansion, telling the maids to inform Evan that he would be back the next day by noon.
This could only be called “opportunity.” Evan received the news from one of the maids. Bidding them all goodnight, she went to her room and changed into a long black cloak. She didn't use any door and just disappeared so no one would raise any suspicion. She refused to take the bunny with her; he was sometimes talkative. She entered a carriage, making sure her face was properly covered. The carriage rode for an hour before stopping where Ella had instructed.
She waited only thirty minutes before seeing someone walk up to her, though she didn't recognize Ella immediately because she was used to the silver hair.
“Impressive. I thought I was too early. Seems like you're earlier.”
“Yup. What do I get in return? You know this is more like a favor,” Evan joked. Ella walked up to her, putting her hands on Evan's shoulders.
“When have you ever heard in our time of a white witch village getting destroyed? Is there even any left?” She rolled her eyes, sitting on a nearby rock.
Evan sat beside her.
“Well,I guess there are vampire villages,” her words made Ella laugh out loud to her core.
“What is so funny?”Evan lifted a brow.
“Come on,vampires are high-ranked creatures. Even a half-vampire is respected by witches, let alone would black witches invade their land.”
“Hmm,”Evan hummed as if understanding something.
She sighed, glancing at Ella. “Aren't you tired? Why are you wearing a cloak?” Evan asked.
“Because it's good for witches. Now stand up, let's go.”
“So which species of creatures?”Evan asked with deep curiosity.
“It's humans, not vampires. Why would I be rescuing vampires, even going to the extent of making a proposal to you?”
“Wow.” Some humans don't like living with vampires, so they form their own villages; that's why humans are mostly found in rural areas. And they're mostly black witches' targets. Evan came to realize it now. Her jaw dropped as if her long-held question had been answered.
Ella stood up to her feet, ready to start moving. The area where they were was mostly used for farming, so no one was around. It was dark and scary. Evan joined Ella as they both walked into the green field.
“Here seems peaceful,”she mumbled. “Sadly, no human in his right mind would dare come to this place hoping to go home alive,” Evan added.
“Haha, true. This world sure is wicked.”
“Ella,do you remember when we went to your coven? And when you told me I have a brother?” Evan reminded her. This had been on her mind every single day, and she always hoped she would see her brother or be given an opportunity to meet someone called blood family.
“Hmm,” Ella nodded as if remembering a talk from long ago. “Though I dropped the case because he was a vampire, if you want, I can look into it again,” Ella said, making Evan turn to her.
“Really?Hmm, I think that should be what you help me in doing. Find my brother.” She jumped up like a little kid.
“Evan, you're so happy for having a brother you aren't sure of,” remarked Ella. They kept walking out of the entrance of the green farm.
“Haha, yeah I am. How about you? If you had a brother, wouldn't you be happy?”
“Pfft,I don't need one. I already have a sibling.”
“Really?”Evan blinked.
“Oh yeah,oh yeah, oh yeah,” Ella started dancing dramatically, swinging her hands.
“Haha, who is it, though? And why haven't you told me?”
Evan felt a little displeased, making Ella pout.
“Forgive me.I thought you knew, that's why,” Ella apologized, making puppy eyes.
“Ok, ok, fine. Just stop making those eyes. Who is it, anyway?”
“Of course,it's you!!” As soon as those words left Ella's lips, four reaper vampires leaped in front of them. Their clothes were ripped in many areas; their mouths and bodies were bloodstained.
They both pouted.
“Oops,”left both their lips at the same time.
“Come on,let's just disappear now!!” Ella said, chanting a spell. Just as they were about to disappear, Evan stretched forth her hand, releasing icy weapons that pierced the vampires' bodies, sending three to the ground.
“Congratulations!!You have just been erased.”
…
When they got to the village, they both sensed a ritual currently going on by black witches.
“What do we do?Where is the ritual taking place?” Evan whispered.
“Hey!Evan, keep it down. You talk too much.”
“Haha,”Evan laughed out loud at Ella's words, making Ella knock her on the head.
“Ah! It hurts,” Evan groaned.
“I'm sorry,I'm sorry, just don't make a sound,” Ella pleaded, using her hands to cover Evan's mouth as they both walked deeper into the village. Rain had already begun pouring down. All the little houses looked as if no one was living there. Everyone had locked their windows, deep in their dreamy world.
They moved deeper into the village and then spotted the place where about twenty-six black witches were performing a ritual meant for burning down the village.
Ella and Evan peeped from a distance.
“What should we do?”Ella asked Evan.
“Huh?You're the queen. You should know,” Evan replied.
“Look, the ritual is almost done. Soon this place will erupt with fire,” she added, smiling sarcastically.
“I'll go first,”she added. Ella nodded. “I'll stay here to hold back anyone who tries to escape.”
Evan walked with confidence to where the black witches were. This was what Isabella loved about this girl: she feared absolutely nothing.
“Hi,”her voice rang out, drawing all the witches' attention.
“Witches of the night, what do we have here?” she asked. Their bodies were like dragon scales. Their ears were long and inhuman. These were the true forms of black witches.
“Hmm,such confidence to walk here. Take off your cloak; let's see your face,” one of them said. Evan did as she was told.
“Who are you? Are you a black witch or a vampire?” Those words made Evan frown.
“Haha,do I look anything like a vampire? I am a human who has come to rescue my village. Mama will be proud of me.”
Her words made the witches laugh out loud.
“How brave,”they all chimed. Then their leader sent the youngest black witch to fight Evan.
Though the black witch was the youngest in the group, she still happened to be older than Evan.
“Hahaha, kid, show me what you have got,” the black witch mocked, her hands forming green smoke in the shape of a ball of fire. She aimed at Evan. Evan gracefully dodged it all, and then in turn, she sent her own icy weapons that pierced through the witch's body, slicing it into little pieces.
All the witches were dumbfounded.
“Luckily, you don't need meat for your ritual. Just take this one, my dearest,” said Evan.
