Chapter 45 Stuck with the vampire
“What? Excuse me?” Evan’s mood dropped to 0%. Ezekiel ignored the girl’s words, but he couldn't help but wonder where she got all this courage.
She stood up from her seat, slamming her hand hard on the table. Ezekiel sent her a warning look. But…Evan was never scared of that look. Maybe she had been when she was still a little teenager, and she regretted deeply being that innocent and stupid.
She wished she had been more sensible and powerful. She still remembers how this idiot fooled her, and she didn't want to go back to that part, or she would just end up strangling this man in front of her.
“Haha, so you can talk like that.” Evan heard a voice, wondering where it came from. Her eyes lost their concentration as she darted them around. Ezekiel lifted a brow, wondering if the girl had some mental issues.
Then it hit her like an erupting volcano. It was the bunny. He was in her green dress. She had hidden him there when Ezekiel came into the church with that red-headed vampire.
Realizing his curiosity and her own crazy act,she instantly sat down, a warm smile forming on her lips that was brighter than the sun.
“I am sorry, master,” she muttered, still keeping the warmest smile. Though Ezekiel wasn’t really touched by that smile, he could relate someone to her attitude.
Emptying the last drop of blood into his mouth,he placed the cup on the table. His black gloves clung to his palms. Noticing the gloves, she decided to ask.
“You're wearing gloves.Don't you feel the heat?” Her words were gentle, making the duke mystified.
At this point, he just thought of the girl as someone who would ask about anything her eyes spotted.
“No,it's quite comfortable. But you're wearing a turban. Why not take it off so some air can touch your brain? That way you'll be able to think more straightforwardly,” he replied, taking the napkin as he wiped his lips with it.
Evan's face turned slightly red,but it wasn't something she couldn't handle.
“Haha,I was just trying to see if you're actually comfortable…”
“I never asked,”he cut in.
This idiot! Who cares if you live or die? Nonsense,Evan thought to herself.
“Let me out of here!I haven't seen my master's face in quite a while,” the bunny pleaded.
You’re crazy,Evan replied to the rabbit with her mind.
“I am not crazy!Please!”
That was when she realized she could actually talk to the rabbit with her mind. And it created a wide grin on her face.
“Haha,I care because you're from the earth. And I care about everyone on earth. That doesn't mean you should insult me. Pfft, even the duke of Greenwave has no manners. It's an abomination.” With that, she got up from her seat and started walking away, taking off her so-called turban hat.
Ezekiel was flabbergasted. She almost had a reply for every answer he gave. His lips lifted up. This one was stubborn, and he needed to make her understand he was the duke of Greenwave.
Though Ezekiel was the fourth duke,he gained more respect. One reason was that he was the son of the late lord. He was also smart and intelligent. That's what truly made him special. Handsome and smart—not dumb like the other council officials.
Over the years, many respected pureblooded vampire elites brought their daughters to Ezekiel, asking for marriage. Of course, it was all a waste of time, as he said he wasn't meant for marriage. This even made Lord Raphael wonder if he was truly interested in boys.
Seeing one of the maids,he used his fingers, signaling for her attention. The maid walked toward him, her head slightly bowed.
“Follow the girl,”he ordered, and she immediately nodded and left. Evan didn’t bother touching the fruit. The truth was that she wasn't truly hungry. It was all for fun. Because she was in disguise, it would be difficult to feel hunger. One could even stay three days without eating when in disguise. But after that, you'd feel a sharp pang of hunger that could make your belly bleed.
Meanwhile,Evan had already walked into the basement of the mansion, happily exploring it. She wondered who got the idea of painting the mansion, because it couldn't possibly be Ezekiel. He was so boring, with no sense of fashion.
“Excuse me, milady, you can't go into that pl…”
Before the servant successfully ended her statement,Evan turned, walking back to where she came from, making the maid blink twice. Evan went straight to the dining room, boiling with fury. She didn't think she could hold her urge to slap Ezekiel when she saw him.
The duke was still sitting at the table, and Evan saw a maid pouring bloodtea into his glass with a glass kettle.
She went and sat back in her seat.
After the servant was done pouring the bloodtea, she left.
“Hmm,I can only see three maids so far,” Evan whispered, smiling like a little kid. Ezekiel took a long sip from his bloodtea before putting it down.
“You're just blind.I thought you might become a little bit sensible when you took off your turban hat. There are actually four maids,” he informed her casually. Evan felt like tossing the turban she was holding right into his stern face.
“Anyway, you said you are not a white witch. That means you're a lowly human,” he reminded her.
“Hmm,being human is much more peaceful than being a bloodsucking creature!” Evan retorted with the widest smile. At that moment, Ezekiel thought she was a psycho, just like his friend Simon.
Then Evan’s eyes fell on the plate of sliced apple fruits on the table. The apples looked dry and untempting. An urge to throw up stirred within her. She controlled her feeling; if she wanted to throw up, she would be sure to do it on Ezekiel's face.
“It's good to know you love being a human, and I love being a vampire. Because from now on, your blood will be my food.”
