Chapter 41 Taken.
I wasn't in my right senses. I mean, I should be happy that Domenic has decided to return me back to the human world. I would get to see my mom and Quinn again. They would know that I am still alive and nothing bad had happened to me. It was almost a month since I was away from home, and I'm sure they would both be very worried.
Yet, why do I feel so sad when Domenic told me that he wants to take me back? I know he says he will visit occasionally, but why do I feel like it's not enough?
I used to pray to every god I know so I can return back home, but now that there is hope for me, I wasn't so sure of myself anymore.
I sighed and closed the book I was reading. Not that I was even reading it. My mind was too occupied by my thoughts to concentrate.
The walls of the library were cold and quiet. No one really comes in here just as Lysander had said. I tired looking for the interesting book I was reading last time, legend of the gods, but unfortunately I couldn't find it. So I settled for a nice fluffy romance.
Its been some hours after breakfast and I know Sarah would be bringing my lunch to my room very soon. The vampire's were mostly indoors during the day, so that made it unsafe for me to have lunch in the dinning hall.
I returned the book I was reading to it's shelf and stood up ready to leave. Domenic promised to see me tonight after he is done meeting with his father. I felt giddy at the thought of seeing him again. I literally can't wait.
As much as I enjoy being with Domenic, the things he made me feel scared me. I found myself loving his touch, his smile, his presence and every single thing about him. Everytime he was close to me, my heart wouldn't stop pounding rapidly in my chest.
I've never felt this way for anyone. Not even Jason who I was so sure I was in love with. My feelings for Domenic was different. Just thinking about him made my brain turn to mush. Could I be in love with him?
I shook my head to rid myself of that thought. I'm not sure I'm in love with him, maybe I just like him a little too much and I'm going to tell him how I feel tonight.
As I walked out of the library, a figure blocked my part startling me out of my mind. When I looked up, it was an unfamiliar guy. I have literally never seen him before.
He was tall and buffy and he had a nasty scowl on his face that made him look ugly. His black shirt was tight around his muscles and he was wearing black matching pants. His short dark hair and red eyes told me he is also a vampire.
My heart pounded against my ribs in fear. I hope it's not one of those vampire guys who wants nothing but to molest me.
I pushed down my fears and put on a brave face. "Can I help you?" I asked with raised brows.
He scrunched up his nose and threw his face away from me. "You really are a walking temptation, aren't you little human?" His voice was so deep and dark. It sent shivers down my spine.
"I_ I hope you don't plan to succumb to that temptation. If you've been in the palace for long, you should know what happens to people who tried to hurt me." It wasn't that much of a threat, but a girl got to do what she can to survive.
His jaw clenched tightly, and I know for sure that I've made a mistake by threatening him.
"You're nothing but a weak human slave. Very soon the prince will cast you aside and I'll make sure I am one of those who takes your body and blood before you are thrown away!" His words sent unpleasant shivers down my spine. I tried not to show that I was affected by it, but I couldn't control my expression. "Anyway," he continued. "The prince has asked me to bring you to him. You are wanted at the council."
Doubt immediately clouded my mind. I knew Domenic well enough. If he wants me to be brought to him, he usually sends Lysander to get me. Why would he send a vampire I have never met before, someone who looks like he is really holding himself back from sinking his fangs into me?
"Are you sure the prince sent you?"
His eyes flashed at my question. "Who do you think you are to question my words?! I said the prince sent me to get you, and you are coming with me!"
"I get it, no need to be aggressive." I mumbled to myself, but the way buffy guy flashed his fangs and growled at me shows that he heard me loud and clear.
I was still wary though. Was this some kind of conspiracy? I mean, I don't even know this guy. He just came out of nowhere, but if he wanted to hurt me, he would have done it already. The library is actually a good place to have his way with me without interruptions.
Maybe Lysander was busy and that's why Domenic sent this guy instead.
Whatever. Let's just go with him. After all I'll be leaving tonight and this would all be a far away memory.
"Alright fine, let's go."
He turned and walked away and I scoffed at his rudeness and followed after him. He lead me down the corridor, and I had to jog behind him because his steps were long and rushed like he was in a hurry.
We pass through some vampires who gave me the usual look of hunger, and then past some more when we walked downstairs. I frowned when I saw that we were headed for the exit.
"Where exactly is the prince?" I whispered to Mr rude, knowing that he heard me loud and clear.
"He's waiting by his car!" He answered in a curt voice and went on walking.
Domenic is waiting by his car? Does he want to return me back to the human world now? But it's not night yet.
We walked out of the palace and into the cold air outside. Mr rude stopped and I did the same. I looked around hoping to find Domenic waiting at the front of the house, but he wasn't there and neither was his car.
Mr rude turned to face me, and this time his eyes were dark and filled with mischief.
My heart pounded as I realized that I have been fooled. I was right after all. Domenic didn't send this guy to get me.
"I_ I think I should go back into the house." I turned around and made to run in, but I instantly felt a prickle at the side of my neck like I have been injected with a syringe.
My body was suddenly paralyzed and I held my neck in pain. I found myself falling right into the arms of the bad guy, and all I thought about in that moment was...
Domenic, please save me!
