Chapter 51 Preparing For Birth?
Chapter 51 Preparing For Birth?
"Your father-in-law is in critical condition in the hospital. We don't know much. Last night, Dylan's nephew managed to break down the door. Your father-in-law was buried under a lot of heavy items, including the door and the wall. Dylan took his father to the hospital as a form of responsibility, and we haven't heard from him since," said Damian.
"Oh my God. Dylan is truly an animal. He doesn't hesitate to hurt his own parents. Can you access information about my father-in-law's condition later?" It doesn't feel right to just leave my father-in-law like that. Even though he was in his own son's hands, Dylan was truly like a devil. And my father-in-law already loves me sincerely and has helped me in many ways. At least I have to be responsible for him.
"Philip's henchmen managed to find out the location of the hospital where your father-in-law is being treated. We'll sneak back in later tonight to see how things are progressing." Damian's words made me feel a little relieved.
"Please let me know as soon as you get any information about my father-in-law."
"Of course. Can you hold on for now? We will have a meeting and find a way to get you out." I shed tears; I don't know how many times I've felt grateful to have them.
"Dylan couldn't possibly hurt me; he wants this baby so badly right now. Please prepare your self-defense skills first. Practice until you are truly ready to fight Dylan. I don't mind waiting a little longer." Damian fell silent; he didn't respond to my words quickly.
"Damian?" I called out to him, making sure Damian was still in place and listening to me or not.
"Yes. But we won't let you wait too long. Two weeks at the most; please take care of your pregnancy and take care of yourself." I nodded without Damian knowing. I will stay here to get justice.
The connection on the earphones is broken. At the same time, Marin reentered my office. She took back my earphones and tied my hands again with rope.
"I'm sorry I have to tie you up again. Next time I'll find a way for you to at least move freely in this room. I'll hold these earphones so no one will suspect anything," Marin said. She was checking everything carefully, afraid of missing something; my position had to be the same as when she first saw it. Marin is so meticulous and careful; I hope she's truly on our side and can be relied upon.
"I need to make sure I don't miss anything because I'm worried Mr. Dylan will come here after this. But I don't think there's anything else. I'll go get breakfast first, and then I'll come back when it's time for meals. You can ask for those earphones when we meet again later." I nodded in understanding at what Marin said.
I stood still in place with the rope still binding my hands. I couldn't do anything until Marin returned with a tray of food that would be my breakfast.
"I ran into Mr. Dylan earlier. He knows that I'm the one who's looking after your room. He said it's okay if the bonds on your hands are removed, but the door still needs to be locked tightly," Marin said as she removed the bonds from my hands again. This time she gave me the tray of food to eat by myself.
"Is Dylan coming?" I asked cautiously.
"I don't know. He spoke as he hurried out. It seems like something urgent," Marin said.
"I hope he won't come here," I replied as I started eating my breakfast.
As night approached, I sat stroking my belly, the moonlight now peeking through the ventilation, along with the cold night wind that crept in. The tiles also felt colder, and I had nothing to use as a cushion to lie down and sleep on.
If I estimate this is around ten o'clock at night, and Dylan really doesn't come like I hoped. But at least I want Marin to come to give me a blanket to protect me from the cold night. However, Marin, who is very cautious, would not possibly come here and break the rules.
I started yawning, with no choice but to lie down on the floor while hugging the baby in my womb. I hadn't been in that position for long when, unexpectedly, the sound of keys was heard. The door to my room opened, and I woke up quickly.
Marin approached me and gave me her earphones; she didn't say anything other than handing them to me.
I took it with confusion and rushed to use it.
"Daniella. Your father-in-law has passed away." That's Damian's voice; he's delivering sad news about my father-in-law. In so many ways and for so many reasons, why did my father-in-law have to die after he helped me? Will my father-in-law hate me and regret helping me? I haven't had a chance to say I'm sorry and thank you yet. He's like my own father, and this really makes me sad.
I closed my mouth, tears flowed freely, and I couldn't suppress my sobs. Marin stroked my shoulder, even though she couldn't hear what Damian and I were talking about.
"We couldn't see the funeral process because Dylan was there. But Philip's men managed to meet your father-in-law before he breathed his last," Damian said.
I couldn't respond to Damian's words; I couldn't say anything other than overflowing tears. What's even sadder is how this husband and wife could die because of their only son.
"He left a message for you. He said you should never blame yourself for anything that happens to him. The time has come to meet Dylan's mother in the afterlife, and he is happy about it. He doesn't regret it; in fact, with this, all the longing for his wife can finally be unleashed through a meeting in a more eternal place. In conclusion, your father-in-law said he hoped you could run away and find a better man than his son." Those words brought on louder sobs, a tighter chest, and regret for involving the parents.
My earphones fell out of my ears, and I couldn't control myself except for the tears that wouldn't stop. But suddenly I felt something that was painful. My stomach hurt so badly, and my cries turned into screams.
Marin panicked when she saw me holding my stomach while wincing and screaming. Why did my stomach suddenly start hurting? Why did it have to be at a time when I'm grieving the loss of my father-in-law?
Marin immediately grabbed my fallen earphones and put them in her ears to tell Damian about my condition.
"Mrs. Daniella is experiencing severe abdominal pain. I'm sure you could hear her screams. I don't know what I should do," Marin said frantically.
I can't focus on anything; I'm just squeezing Marin's hand while holding my stomach. No one came here even though I screamed in pain.
"What? Preparing for childbirth?" And suddenly Marin screamed in surprise.
