Chapter 46 Meeting My Father's Old Friends
Chapter 46 Meeting My Father's Old Friends
I glanced at Damian worriedly when Mary suddenly turned her earphones back on. At that moment, I was also afraid that Mary would be hurt like this continuously until she opened her mouth.
"What should we do, Damian?"
"Your departure will enrage Dylan, and besides, he's also in a battle with Victor. Perhaps we can use this opportunity to speed up the return of your father's members and launch an attack. Only then will your people there escape Dylan's wrath." I seemed to be weighing things up. I should have forced them to do it with me.
"But it still takes a lot of time to gather all the members, right?" I asked Damian, but Damian shook his head.
"Collin and Philip also helped me contact the others. They say most of them changed their numbers to erase all traces and memories of the past. But there are a few new numbers they know as well. They say they'll soon persuade the others. And you should know that we already have seven members." Damian's words gave me hope; maybe we can take things slowly now.
"Is this house safe enough for us to use as a headquarters? Maybe they should meet with me, and we can start planning something." Damian nodded, indicating that the house was safe enough for such secret activities.
"If that's the case, let's gather more members in the meantime. Let's start setting up the meeting," I decided.
"Okay, as you wish."
My heart was pounding thinking about how this would be a huge decision in my life; I would even fight with the fetus in my womb. But I hope this war is over before my child is born into the world and Dylan claims him as heir.
Whatever happens, I don't want my child to follow in their father's footsteps. Even though they are that man's flesh and blood, and he has rights to his child, I will not let my child become a bad person.
The next morning, I met Lily and my mother in the living room, and tears welled up in my eyes again. I thought I would never see my mother again after my forced marriage to Dylan. However, God kindly reunited me with my mother, and when she looked at me, she couldn't hide her emotion either.
"Daniella," whispered Mother. I rushed toward her and hugged her tightly.
"Oh my child." A mother's embrace is so tight, accompanied by sobs that moved me, yet I still tried to appear the strongest compared to my mother.
"Are you okay, dear? Are you and your baby healthy and not lacking anything?" Mother asked without releasing her warm embrace.
"I'm fine, Mom. Dylan can't hurt me because he needs this baby as an heir. So I'm being watched pretty well even though we curse at each other all the time," I told my mother.
"Thank goodness if that's the case. Mother is worried that Dylan is treating you unsuitably as his wife." Mother released her embrace, and at that moment, her face gradually relaxed.
"Please take care of your health. Perhaps we can't meet freely, and we're worried that Dylan's men might be following you. Not only am I afraid of my presence being discovered, but I'm also afraid that you are now their target, Mom." Mother nodded in understanding; it seemed she also knew what mafia life was like during her time with Father, which was why she didn't ask many questions.
"If that's the case, please contact me as often as possible. Also let me know how my grandchildren are doing. Now that you're seven months pregnant, your plan is too risky. You don't have the knowledge of a leader, but I hope all of your father's friends can guide and protect you."
All of Mother's words were a prayer and a message, like sending her child off to the battlefield. But I'm proud of my mother for agreeing to her rebellious daughter's choice.
"Lily, how are you?" This time I'm greeting Lily, my friend who is always by my side. I hope that if there is a second life, I will come back as Lily's friend.
Lily stood up, her smile widening, not showing any sadness in front of me. "I'm glad you're in Damian's hands now. Dylan has really gone too far; I heard you were taken to the punishment room." When Lily said that, I rushed to ask her to lower her voice because I was afraid my mother would worry.
"Although it's not physical punishment, psychological punishment is actually very effective in driving people crazy. For me, it's better to be beaten than to have my psychology completely tortured," Lily said, still as sarcastic as usual, but this time her voice was lowered. We also made sure our mother wasn't eavesdropping on our conversation when she sat back down on the sofa.
"It's okay; the important thing is that I'm here now. And I've opened my eyes and mind to attack."
"I'll support you, with all my connections, with everything I can do," Lily said.
"I hope you can protect my mother. I'm very worried that Dylan will hurt my mother because I ran away from her house. From now on, Dylan's people might come to the house to see if I'm home or not. When they come, please protect my mother; don't let them be rough." I just asked Lily to take care of my mother, but I still feel worried about Lily being caught in the middle of our war. So I asked Lily to go to the side and just protect my mom.
"You don't need to worry about that. I've already recruited many men skilled in martial arts to guard your house. Try looking outside to see how many of your mother's guards there are." Lily pointed toward the window, and when I looked out, there were indeed several burly guards around my mother's car.
"You're amazing, Lily." I gave Lily a thumbs up.
"But I also want to move forward, hold a weapon, jump over fire, and eradicate evil," Lily said with a slight frown, and that managed to make me laugh.
"But this isn't a shooting game like in a video game. If you get shot for real, you can't use extra lives to fight again," I said, still laughing in response to Lily's desire.
"I know, Daniella! But let me also fight alongside you and Damian." Lily's eyes blinked hopefully, and I couldn't refuse her when she was like this.
After I agreed to Lily's wish to join the fight against the South led by Dylan, the sound of cars suddenly echoed in the yard. It was Damian's car with two other cars following him.
Damian got out, along with some men in black leather jackets I didn't recognize. As they entered, they immediately saluted my mother. And I stood frozen, watching what was happening before me.
"Daniella, these are our members. Collin, Philip, John, Jeremy, Luca, and also Axcel. James should be here, but he's still recovering. Now let's discuss together, and first of all, Daniella, please introduce yourself first," Damian said.
